The Italian Association for Cardiovascular Rehabilitation and Prevention (ITACARE-P) and the Italian Federation of Associations of Hospital Doctors on Internal Medicine (FADOI) released a joint position paper to guide referrals of cardiovascular patients discharged from Internal Medicine (IM) wards to Cardiac Rehabilitation (CR) facilities. The document provides rationale and operative recommendations for appropriateness (i.e.

Objective: To verify the incidence of bleeding events in patients on ongoing anticoagulant treatment in the real world and compare the results of different reversal or repletion strategies currently available for pharmacological treatment.
Methods: Patients managed in the emergency department (ED) with major bleeding events, on ongoing anticoagulation were stratified according to bleeding site and reversal or repletion therapy with andexanet alfa (ADX), idarucizumab (IDA), prothrombin complex concentrate (PCC), and vitamin K (Vit-K).
Endpoint: Death at 30 days was compared in the subgroups with cerebral hemorrhage (CH) and gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding.

Medical divisions are at high risk of Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) due to patients' frailty and complexity. This sub-analysis of the FADOI-PRACTICE study included patients presenting with diarrhea either at admission or during hospitalization. CDI diagnosis was confirmed when both enzyme immunoassay and A and B toxin detection were found positive.

Neurovisual involvement has been reported in a number of patients with severe SARS-CoV-2 disease (COVID-19), mainly among adult patients. In children, such involvement has been reported in rare cases, often in those presenting with severe forms of COVID-19. The aim of this work is to explore the association between mild COVID-19 and neurovisual manifestations.

Some patients affected by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) experience acute hypoxemic respiratory failure progressing toward atypical acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). The aim of the study is to evaluate whether a correlation between ratio of peripheral saturation of oxygen (SpO) and fraction of inspired oxygen (S/F) and ratio of arterial partial pressure of oxygen and fraction of inspired oxygen (P/F) exists in COVID-19-related ARDS as already known in classical ARDS. In this multicenter, retrospective, observational study, consecutive, adult (≥ 18 years) patients with symptomatic coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) admitted to different COVID-19 divisions in Italy between March and December 2020 were included.

Objective: To address the lack of information about clinical sequelae of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Patients And Methods: Previously hospitalized COVID-19 patients who were attending the outpatient clinic for post-COVID-19 patients (ASST Ovest Milanese, Magenta, Italy) were included in this retrospective study. They underwent blood draw for complete blood count, C-reactive protein, ferritin, D-dimer, and arterial blood gas analysis and chest high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) scan.

This report presents the authors' experience with surgical wound-healing using a negative-pressure wound therapy (NPWT) device in a population of oncological orthopedic patients. Two groups of 26 oncological patients each underwent surgical excision. After surgery, the control group received standard dressings and the closed incisional NPWT (ciNPWT) group was treated with a ciNPWT system on the sutured wound area for 14 days.

Although myocarditis can be a severe cardiac complication of COVID-19 patients, few data are available in the literature about the incidence and clinical significance in patients affected by SARS-CoV-2. This study aims to describe the prevalence and the clinical features of suspected myocarditis in 3 cohorts of patients hospitalized for COVID-19. We retrospectively evaluated all the consecutive patients admitted for COVID-19 without exclusion criteria.

Background: Chest radiography is universally accepted as the method of choice to confirm correct positioning of a nasogastric tube (NGT). Considering also that radiation exposure could increase with multiple insertions in a single patient, bedside abdominal ultrasound (BAU) may be a potentially useful alternative to chest radiography in the management of NGTs.
Research Question: What is the accuracy of BAU in confirming the correct positioning of an NGT?
Study Design And Methods: After a specific course consisting of 10 h of training, the authors studied, in a prospective multicenter cohort, the validity of BAU to confirm correct NGT placement.

McCune-Albright syndrome is a rare and challenging congenital sporadic disease involving the skin and skeletal and endocrine systems with a prevalence ranges from one in 100,000 to 1,000,000. In addition to the classical triad of fibrous dysplasia of bone, pigmented skin lesions and precocious puberty, other multiple endocrinological features, including hyperthyroidism, growth hormone excess, hypercortisolism, and hypophosphatemic rickets, have been reported. A brief review of the syndrome in children is here reported.

Background: Enterobacterales are among the most common causes of bacterial infections in the community and among hospitalized patients, and multidrug-resistant (MDR) strains have emerged as a major threat to human health. Resistance to third-generation cephalosporins is typical of MDRs, being mainly due to the production of extended spectrum β-lactamases or AmpC-type β-lactamases.
Objective: The objective of this paper is to review the epidemiological impact, diagnostic issues and treatment options with AmpC producers.

Objectives: Environmental pollution is associated with morbidity and mortality for chronic-degenerative diseases. Recent data points out a relationship between proximity to industrial plants and mortality due to neoplasms. The aim of this study has been to compare mortality due to chronic-degenerative diseases in the area of Tuscany (Bassa Val di Cecina), Italy, characterized by the presence of 2 neighboring municipalities similar in terms of size but with substantial differences in industrial activities: Rosignano (the site of chemical, energy production and waste processing industries) and Cecina (with no polluting activity).

Anticoagulant therapy is recommended for the secondary prevention of stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). T he identification of patients at high risk for early recurrence, which are potential candidates to prompt anticoagulation, is crucial to justify the risk of bleeding associated with early anticoagulant treatment. The aim of this study was to evaluate in patients with acute ischemic stroke and AF the association between findings at trans-thoracic echocardiography (TTE) and 90 days recurrence.
