Heterogeneous reactions in a HFCVD reactor: simulation using a 2D model.

Beilstein J Nanotechnol

December 2024

Centro de Investigaciones en Dispositivos Semiconductores (CIDS-ICUAP), Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP). Col. San Manuel, Cd. Universitaria, Av. San Claudio y 14 sur, Edif. IC5 y IC6. Puebla, Pue., 72507 México.

In this study, a simulation of the elementary chemical reactions during SiO film growth in a hot filament chemical vapor deposition (HFCVD) reactor was carried out using a 2D model. For the 2D simulation, the continuity, momentum, heat, and diffusion equations were solved numerically by the software COMSOL Multiphysics based on the finite element method. The model allowed for the simulation of the key parameters of the HFCVD reactor.

Cytosine is an essential chemical molecule in living systems, such as DNA and RNA, it is essential in astrobiology to study how it behaves under probable primitive conditions. We looked at how cytosine broke down in aqueous solutions exposed to high radiation levels to learn more about how stable it might have been on the early Earth. We conducted various types of analysis, such as ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy and high-pressure liquid chromatography.

Regulation of Catalase Expression and Activity by Hog1 in the Halotolerant Yeast Under Saline and Oxidative Conditions.

Laboratorio de Biología Molecular y Genómica, Departamento de Biología Celular, Facultad de Ciencias, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Avenida Universidad # 3000, Cd. Universitaria, Coyoacán, Mexico City 04510, Mexico.

Efficient transcriptional regulation of the stress response is critical for microorganism survival. In yeast, stress-related gene expression, particularly for antioxidant enzymes like catalases, mitigates reactive oxygen species such as hydrogen peroxide (HO), preventing cell damage. The halotolerant yeast shows oxidative stress tolerance, largely due to high catalase activity from and genes.

Until quite recently, Conceptual DFT (CDFT) was mainly based on the energy functional, [,], where the number of electrons and the external potential are state variables. One of the strengths of CDFT, however, is the ease with which additional and/or different state variables can be incorporated. Here, the incorporation of new variables-namely temperature and external fields-is discussed, outlining the motivation for these extensions, sketching their theoretical/computational context, and presenting some elucidative examples.

Laboratorio de Investigación y Posgrado en Tecnología Farmacéutica (L-322), Facultad de Estudios Superiores Cuautitlán, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Av. 1 de Mayo S/N, Cuautitlán Izcalli, CP 54740, Edo. de Méx, México.

The article focuses on preparing a nanoformulation based on hydrotalcite and glycyrrhizic acid (GA), seeking a hepatoprotective effect. For this purpose, hydrotalcite-GA formulations were prepared by varying the following conditions to obtain optimal systems in terms of size and PDI (the lowest values), and Z potential (the highest values): (i) type of hydrotalcite (obtained by co-precipitation or calcined hydrotalcite); method used (ultrasound or high shear stirring), and (iii) type of stabilizer (Tween®80 or Pluronic® F-127). The best results were obtained using hydrotalcite obtained by co-precipitation, with high shear stirring and adding a stabilizer, either Tween®80 (HT-T80-GA: mean particle size = 315 nm, PDI = 0.

Deforestation and alterations in land use are key factors contributing to rises in both local and global temperatures. However, the effect of these alterations on land surface temperature (LST) remains understudied in many areas that have experienced significant changes in land use. To address this gap, a spatial and temporal evaluation of land use and land cover (LULC) was performed to identify potential changes in LST using satellite imagery and statistical analysis.

December 2024

Facultad de Química, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), Cd. Universitaria, 04510, México, D.F., México.

Our research on the chromium complex of macrocyclic ligands as a precursor for nitric oxide release makes a significant contribution to the field of chemistry. We conduct a detailed analysis of nitrito chromium complexes, specifically trans-[M(III)L(ONO)], where M=Cr(III) and L-L represent different ligands such as L=1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane, L= (5,7-dimethyl-6-benzylcyclam), L= (5,7-dimethyl-6-anthracylcyclam), L= (5,7-dimethyl-6-(p-hydroxymethylbenzyl)-1,4, 8,11-cyclam) and L= (5,7-dimethyl-6-(1¢-methyl-4'-(1"-carboxymethylpyrene) benzyl)-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane). Our objective is to comprehensively understand the mechanism of NO release and identify the key factors influencing NO delivery.

Unveiling the impact of enhanced hydrophobicity of ZIF-71 on butanol purification: insights from experimental and molecular simulations.

December 2024

Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, UANL, Facultad de Ciencias Químicas, Av. Universidad, Cd. Universitaria, 66455 San Nicolas de los Garza, Nuevo León, Mexico.

Biofuels offer significant potential for reducing carbon emissions and enhancing energy sustainability, but their efficient purification remains a significant challenge. In this study, the performance of a hydrophobic zeolitic imidazolate framework, ZIF-71(ClBr)-SE, in the adsorptive separation of butanol from single- and ternary-component systems (acetone, butanol, and ethanol) was investigated and compared with ZIF-8 and ZIF-71. Physicochemical characterization techniques, including XRD, SEM, BET, TGA, and DVS, confirmed that the modified ZIF-71 is hydrophobic, isostructural with ZIF-71, and has a higher surface area.

Formaldehyde condensation in the presence of a mineral catalyst and under alkaline conditions is considered to be a "messy" chemical system due to its dependence on the complex chemical equilibrium between the reaction intermediates, which has a significant impact on the final products. This chemical system is extremely important in prebiotic chemistry and has been proposed as a potential pathway for carbohydrate formation in the early Earth. Saline and soda lakes are alkaline systems that could concentrate and accumulate a wide variety of ions (such as phosphate) and clay minerals, which can catalyze prebiotic chemical reactions.

One of the central issues in the understanding of early cellular evolution is the characterisation of the cenancestor. This includes the description of the chemical nature of its genome. The disagreements on this question comprise several proposals, including the possibility that AlkB-mediated methylation repair of alkylated RNA molecules may be interpreted as evidence of a cenancestral RNA genome.
