(1) Background: Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) has been used as an alternative to titanium in implant prosthetic systems, but its impact on stress distribution in implant systems needs to be investigated. This study aimed to compare the effect of polyetheretherketone (PEEK) and titanium abutments on implant prosthetic systems and the supporting bone using three-dimensional finite element analysis (FEA). (2) Methods: Three-dimensional finite element analysis was conducted using CATIA V5 and Abaqus V6.

Background: To examine the association between glycemic status and all-cause mortality risk among individuals with dementia.
Methods: We enrolled 146,832 individuals aged 40 and older with dementia as identified through the Korean National Health Insurance Service health screening test between 2008 and 2016. Mortality status was evaluated at the end of 2019.

Background: Evidence linking environmental toxicants to sleep quality is growing; however, these associations during pregnancy remain unclear. We examined the associations of repeated measures of urinary phthalates in early and late pregnancy with multiple markers of sleep quality among pregnant women.
Methods: The study population included 2324 pregnant women from the Korean Children's Environmental Health Study.

The infratemporal fossa and pterygopalatine fossa are critical pathways for blood vessels and nerves leading to the orbit, nasal cavity, and oral cavity. Anatomical observation of these areas is challenging for learners due to their complex connections with surrounding structures and their deep location within the body. Since it is not easy to understand this area in three dimensions with only textbook images, there is a need to produce three-dimensional (3D) content.

This study investigates the impact of insufficient common iliac lymph node (CIN) irradiation on treatment outcomes in patients with stage IB2-IIB cervical cancer receiving concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT). We retrospectively analyzed 68 patients with Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics stage IB2-IIB, treated with weekly cisplatin-based CCRT from 2008 to 2018. Patients received external-beam whole pelvic radiotherapy (WPRT) and concurrent cisplatin chemotherapy, followed by high-dose-rate brachytherapy.

Reconstruction of mandibular bone defects is a surgical challenge, and microvascular reconstruction is the current gold standard. The field of tissue bioengineering has been providing an increasing number of alternative strategies for bone reconstruction. In this preclinical study, the performance of two bioengineered scaffolds, a hydrogel made of polyethylene glycol-chitosan (HyCh) and a hybrid core-shell combination of poly (L-lactic acid)/poly ( -caprolactone) and HyCh (PLA-PCL-HyCh), seeded with different concentrations of human mesenchymal stromal cells (hMSCs), has been explored in non-critical size mandibular defects in a rabbit model.

The currently approved direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) are increasingly used in clinical practice. Although serious bleeding risks are lower with DOACs than with vitamin K antagonists, bleeding remains the most frequent side effect. Andexanet alfa and idarucizumab are the currently approved specific reversal agents for oral factor (F)Xa inhibitors and dabigatran, respectively.

Background And Purpose: Mechanical thrombectomy (MT) along with emergent carotid stent placement (eCAS) has been suggested to have a greater benefit in patients with tandem lesions (TL), compared with other strategies of treatment. Nonetheless, there is no agreement on whether the intracranial occlusion should be treated before the cervical ICA lesion, or vice versa. In this retrospective multicenter study, we sought to compare clinical and procedural outcomes of the 2 different treatment approaches in patients with TL.

The study "Spaces of the Face for Filler Procedures: Identification of subSMAS Spaces Based on Anatomical Study" explores the anatomy of facial spaces crucial for safe and effective filler injections. By delineating the subSMAS (sub-superficial musculoaponeurotic system) spaces, this research highlights how these virtual compartments, bordered by fat, muscles, fascia, and ligaments, facilitate independent muscle movement and reduce the risk of damaging critical structures. The thicker and more robust skin of East Asians necessitates deeper filler injections, emphasizing the significance of accurately identifying these spaces.

There are numerous species in the Erwiniaceae family that are important for agricultural and clinical purposes. Here we described the Erwiniaceae bacterium PD-1 isolated from mushroom (Pleurotus eryngii) compost. Comparative genomic and phylogenetic analyses showed that the strain PD-1 was assigned to a new genus and species, Paramixta manurensis gen.
