We report the case of a parosteal osteosarcoma of the distal ulna, treated with wide resection without reconstruction. The patient developed lung metastasis and a mass in the interosseus membrane of the forearm proximally to the osteotomy. The lung mass was found to be a metastasis from parosteal osteosarcoma and the biopsy of the forearm mass revealed a myositis ossificans.

Ileal pouch-anal anastomosis (IPAA) is now the procedure of choice for most patients requiring proctocolectomy for ulcerative colitis. The J-shaped pouch, usually 15-20 cm in length, is easiest to construct and has functional outcomes identical to those of the more complex designs. IPAA is a complex procedure, and complications occur frequently.

Objectives: To present a comprehensive experience with intraprostatic botulinum toxin (BT) injection in men with symptomatic benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
Methods: In this open-label study using an outpatient setting, 77 men with BPH received 200 intraprostatic BT A units (Botox) using an ultrasound-guided transperineal approach. We evaluated the American Urological Association (AUA) score, serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA), prostatic volume, residual volume, and peak urinary flow rates.

Background And Aims: Sphincter-saving procedures for resection of mid and, in some cases, of distal rectal tumors have become prevalent as their safety have been established. Increased anastomotic leak rate, associated with the type of anastomosis and the distance from the anal verge, has been reported. To compare surgical outcomes of end-to-end and end-to-side anastomosis after anterior resection for T1-T2 rectal cancer.

Background/aims: Open tension-free techniques of hernia repair using synthetic meshes are a well-accepted practice with an excellent patient comfort and a low recurrence rate. Otherwise, the influence of the resulting fibrosis on testicular perfusion is still unclear. In this study, the effect of prosthetic materials on testicular perfusion was evaluated using Duplex ultrasonography.

Background: The aim of the study was to evaluate the efficacy of botulinum toxin injection in the treatment of recurrent anal fissure following lateral internal sphincterotomy.
Methods: Eighty patients were treated with botulinum toxin (30 units Botox or 90 units Dysport), injected into two sites of the internal sphincter. Clinical and manometric results were recorded before and after treatment.

Background: In recent years treatment of chronic anal fissure has shifted from surgical to medical. This study compared the ability of two non-surgical treatments-botulinum toxin injections and nitroglycerin ointment-to induce healing in patients with idiopathic anal fissure.
Methods: One hundred adults were assigned randomly to receive treatment with either type A botulinum toxin (30 units Botox or 90 units Dysport) injected into the internal anal sphincter or 0.

Background: Botulinum toxin induces healing in patients with idiopathic anal fissures.
Methods: One hundred-fifty patients with posterior anal fissures were treated with botulinum toxin injected in the internal anal sphincter on each side of the anterior midline. Subjects were randomized into 2 treatment groups based on the number of units of botulinum toxin injected.

Background/aims: The severity of acute pancreatitis is variable and does not always correlate with structural and functional changes in the pancreas. More precise predictors of severity are necessary to enable intensive therapy to be targeted at patients with severe attacks, and to judge efficacy of treatment, to help in the early detection of complications, and to facilitate comparison of patients from different centers.
Methodology: On admission, clinical criteria, biochemical and hematological parameters and multiple prognostic scores (Ranson, Imrie and APACHE-II scores) were collected from patients with acute pancreatitis.
