#PathTwitter is a well-known virtual community that has historically been positive for pathologists, trainees, and medical students worldwide to communicate, collaborate, and connect for free. However, in 2023, the popular social media platform Twitter (parent company: X Corp.) transitioned to "X" and, with this, #PathTwitter evolved into #PathX.

The use of social media in pathology has broadly had a positive impact on pathology education and outreach with the frequent posting of high-quality educational material of potential value to trainees, practicing pathologists, and other clinical and laboratory specialists. These posts are also of potential utility and interest to members of the public, who are now more than ever able to gain a window into the field and the role of pathologists in their medical care. There can be a lighthearted aspect to teaching material with the use of food items/analogies, emojis, or other descriptors, which may cross over into the classroom.

Introductions: Kidney injury molecule-1 (KIM-1) and periostin (POSTN) are proximal and distal tubule injury biomarkers. We tested whether baseline urine KIM-1/creatinine (uKIM-1/cr) and/or uPOSTN/cr correlated with disease severity or improved a remission prediction model.
Methods: Baseline uKIM1/cr and uPOSTN/cr were measured on spot urine samples from immunosuppression-free patients enrolled in Nephrotic Syndrome Study Network until December 15, 2014.

Background: The management of patients with enterocutaneous fistula (ECF) requires an interdisciplinary approach and poses a significant challenge to physicians, wound/stoma care specialists, dietitians, pharmacists, and other nutrition clinicians. Guidelines for optimizing nutrition status in these patients are often vague, based on limited and dated clinical studies, and typically rely on individual institutional or clinician experience. Specific nutrient requirements, appropriate route of feeding, role of immune-enhancing formulas, and use of somatostatin analogues in the management of patients with ECF are not well defined.

The development and refinement of behaviors and skills outlined within the milestones will require learners to monitor, reflect, and assess their own performance over time. External feedback provides an opportunity for learners to recalibrate their self-assessments, thereby enabling them to develop better self-monitoring and self-assessment skills.

Autosomal recessive polycystic kidney disease (ARPKD; MIM 263200) is a severe, typically early onset form of cystic disease that primarily involves the kidneys and biliary tract. Phenotypic expression and age at presentation can be quite variable. The incidence of ARPKD is 1 in 20,000 live births, and its pleotropic manifestations are potentially life-threatening.

Methods: A phase I and feasibility study with dose escalation of gemcitabine in cohorts of three to six patients to determine the MTD (the dose level at which no more than one of six patients experienced a acute dose-limiting toxicity) was conducted.
Results: Thirteen patients were entered on the phase I trial.

Purpose: We report the long-term survival and toxicity of a randomized phase III study comparing cisplatin alone with cisplatin, flurouracil, and hydroxyurea versus hydroxyurea concurrent with pelvic irradiation for patients with locally advanced cervical cancer with pathologically negative para-aortic nodes.
Patients And Methods: Comparisons of progression-free (PFS) and overall survival (OS) between treatment arms utilized Kaplan-Meier and log-rank statistics. Relative risk estimates adjusting for prognostic factors were determined using the Cox proportional hazards regression model.

Reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndromes (RCVS) comprise a group of diverse conditions, all characterized by reversible multifocal narrowing of the cerebral arteries heralded by sudden (thunderclap), severe headaches with or without associated neurologic deficits. Reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndromes are clinically important because they affect young persons and can be complicated by ischemic or hemorrhagic strokes. The differential diagnosis of RCVS includes conditions associated with thunderclap headache and conditions that cause irreversible or progressive cerebral artery narrowing, such as intracranial atherosclerosis and cerebral vasculitis.
