Background: Among presenting conditions in pediatric acute care settings, conduct disorder (CD) is a potentially stigmatizing yet common diagnosis in the setting of behavioral dysregulation requiring psychiatric admission. Concerns exist about over-diagnosis of CD in non-Hispanic Black children relative to White peers and the potential for the CD diagnosis to obfuscate manifestations of co-occurring psychiatric conditions.
Methods: We evaluated the number of manuscripts on CD diagnoses that report race and ethnicity and co-occurring mental health characteristics (i.

Objective: To identify the COVID-19 pandemic impact on well-being/mental health, coping strategies, and risk factors in adolescents worldwide.
Method: This study was based on an anonymous online multi-national/multi-language survey in the general population (representative/weighted non-representative samples, 14-17 years of age), measuring change in well-being (World Health Organization-Five Well-Being Index [WHO-5]/range = 0-100) and psychopathology (validated composite P-score/range = 0-100), WHO-5 <50 and <29, pre- vs during COVID-19 pandemic (April 26, 2020-June 26, 2022). Coping strategies and 9 a priori- defined individual/cumulative risk factors were measured.

Inflammatory bowel disease-related complications are associated with a decreased quality of life, requirement for surgery, and increased morbidity. Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) is accurate at identifying and characterizing perianal fistulae and abscesses and helps guide treatment decisions. EUS also allows us to accurately assess for mucosal and transmural inflammation and thus can help differentiate Crohn's disease from ulcerative colitis (UC).

Diverting loop ileostomy is performed after colectomy to allow for anastomotic healing, and prevention of pelvic sepsis when an anastomotic leak occurs. There is no consensus on the optimal timing of ileostomy closure, and there is limited data on complications associated with ileostomy closure greater than 12 months after creation. The aim of this study is to investigate outcomes of delayed loop ileostomy closure greater than 12 months after creation.

Background: Incidence rates of autism, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and gender dysphoria (GD) are rising not only in the general population, but particularly among children, adolescents, and young adults with eating disorders (EDs). While ED rates have risen during the COVID pandemic, trends in co-occurring autism, ADHD, and GD have yet to be investigated in detail or at scale by way of large electronic medical record data.
Objectives: To investigate trends in rates of co-occurring autism, ADHD, and GD among children, adolescents, and young adults with EDs in years prior to and during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Purpose Of Review: We reviewed recent evidence regarding the impact of climate change (specifically, high ambient temperatures, heatwaves, weather-related disasters, and air pollution) on older adults' mental health. We also summarized evidence regarding other medical problems that can occur in aging adults in connection with climate change, resulting in psychiatric manifestations or influencing psychopharmacological management.
Recent Findings: Older adults can experience anxiety, depressive, and/or posttraumatic stress symptoms, as well as sleep disturbances in the aftermath of climate disasters.

As global aging becomes more prominent, neurocognitive disorders (NCD) incidence has increased. Patients with NCD usually have an impairment in one or more cognitive domains, such as attention, planning, inhibition, learning, memory, language, visual perception, and spatial or social skills. Studies indicate that 50-80% of these adults will develop neuropsychiatric symptoms (NPS), such as apathy, depression, anxiety, disinhibition, delusions, hallucinations, and aberrant motor behavior.

Left-hand dominance in surgery is a trait historically regarded as disadvantageous to both the trainee and trainer. The aim of this editorial was to identify challenges faced by left-handed trainees and trainers across multiple surgical specialties and to propose strategies that could be implemented during surgical training Multiple themes were identified including left-handed surgeons experiencing discrimination due to their handedness. Additionally, a higher incidence of ambidexterity among left-handed trainees was noted, suggesting that left-handed surgeons may be adapting to a lack of accommodations for left-hand trainees.

Introduction: Pulmonary hypertension (PHT) is a known risk factor for coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), though less well understood for valve operations. We hypothesized PHT is associated with lower risk during mitral valve operations compared to CABG.
Methods: Patients undergoing isolated mitral valve or CABG operations (2011-2019) in a regional Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) database were stratified by pulmonary artery systolic pressure (PASP).
