Irisin, a novel adipomyokine, has been proposed to be a therapeutic agent against obesity-related metabolic disease. Royal Jelly (RJ) and tocotrienol-rich fraction (TRF) are suggested to promote obesity and its related problems through potential mutual mechanistic pathways. This investigation intended to evaluate the glycemic and inflammation-promoting effects of RJ, TRF, and their combinations to evaluate their synergic effects through irisin action in obese rats induced by a high-fat diet (HFD) that underwent a calorie restriction diet (CRD).

Abstract: This report presented a 32-year-old woman, complaining of recurrent fever and chills. Physical examination revealed the presence of a third heart sound (S), a pan-systolic murmur (III/VI) at mitral and tricuspid foci, tachycardia, and fine pulmonary crackles.

Strict association between development of psychological conditions and hypertension incidence: A cross-sectional study.

Background/aims: Previous studies indicated a significant association between mental disorders and cardiovascular diseases, including heart failure (HF) and coronary artery disease (CAD) with comorbidity hypertension (HTN), and vice versa, leading to a challenge in the final decision. To resolve this issue, we aimed to exclude comorbidities and further assessed to better find any association between mental disorders and cardiovascular diseases (CVD).

Methods: The cross-sectional study involved 300 participants: 100 with HTN (without HF or CAD), 100 with HF (without HTN or CAD), 100 with CAD (without HTN or HF), and 100 healthy individuals as a control group.

Abstract: Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a progressive and critical disease that can be caused by mitral stenosis (MS). Some of these patients present with disproportionate PH, which is an uncommon phenomenon and is considered a challenging diagnostic and treatment process.

Case report: Endovascular treatment of transplant renal artery stenosis in patient with normal color duplex ultrasound of the renal artery.

Key Clinical Message: Proper diagnosis and treatment of vascular stenosis which is a possible complication of renal transplant is important in improving patients' quality of life and prognosis.

Abstract: One known consequence among recipients of renal transplants is graft renal artery stenosis. Early identification and therapy are crucial to avoid graft malfunction and the serious consequences that might arise due to elevated hypertension in several organs.

Muscular and hepatosplenic candidiasis in a patient with acute myeloblastic leukemia: A case report and literature review.

Key Clinical Message: Muscular and subcutaneous candidiasis is a rare entity in immunocompromised patients, but it should be kept in mind when we see multiple cystic soft tissue masses in addition to target-shaped hepatosplenic lesions in neutropenic patients. US and MRI are useful imaging modalities for the diagnosis and follow-up of these patients.

Abstract: Soft tissue candidiasis is an opportunistic infection in immunocompromised patients and must always be diagnosed and treated as soon as possible.

Targeted treatment in viral-associated inflammatory cardiomyopathy.

Detection of viruses like HHV-6 in endomyocardial biopsy or serum serology of patients with myocarditis or heart failure features unresponsive to conventional heart failure therapies could be a potential targeted treatment especially in refractory cases.

A giant splenic hydatid cyst: Why calcified cysts should not be considered as a dead cyst.

Our case report showed that peripheral wall calcification of the hydatid cyst does not mean inactivation of the cyst and calcification of cyst wall may occur in all stages of disease.

Dextrocardia with asymptomatic right atrial appendage aneurysm: a case report.

Right atrial appendage aneurysm (RAAA) is rarely encountered with variable intracardiac anatomy. We report a case of asymptomatic RAAA in a patient with dextrocardia and anomalous origin of RCA from left coronary sinus which was treated successfully by CABG and the aneurysm was completely excised.
