A study examined the link between the hOGG1 Ser326Cys gene polymorphism and coronary artery lesions in 323 diabetes patients who underwent coronary angiography.
Patients were divided into three genotypes (Cys/Cys, Ser/Ser, Ser/Cys) and various clinical data, including mRNA expression and 8-OHdG levels, were analyzed.
Results indicated that the Cys/Cys genotype had higher levels of 8-OHdG and hOGG1 mRNA, and was associated with more severe coronary artery lesions compared to the other genotypes.
