Aims: Developing an integrated care pathway for atrial fibrillation (AF) patients is of pivotal importance, given the different treatment strategies. Moreover, knowledge about the condition is an important factor in engaging patients in their care. Patient education formed the core of the integrated AF-EduCare/AF-EduApp approach.

Background: Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is a life support in newborns with severe respiratory failure. Our main objective was to evaluate the mortality of patients and define positive and negative predictive factors of survival.
Methods: We performed a Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology (STROBE)-conformed retrospective observational study and a systematic review, according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA).
Background: This study aimed to characterize acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients undergoing invasive diagnostics and to evaluate prognostic factors for all-cause mortality over a 10-year follow-up period.
Methods: The KORONEF study was a prospective, observational, single-center study that enrolled 492 patients, of whom 467 had confirmed coronary artery disease (CAD). Baseline demographic, clinical, laboratory, and procedural data were analyzed, focusing on the differences between ACS and chronic coronary syndrome (CCS) patients.

Background: An atrioventricular defibrillator system with a floating atrial dipole (VDD ICD) can provide atrial sensing by a single lead. Our aim was to compare the arrhythmia detection efficacy of VDD ICDs with conventional single- (VVI) and dual-chamber (DDD) defibrillators.
Methods: Data from consecutive patients undergoing ICD implantation were retrospectively analyzed.

Atherosclerosis (AS) and Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) are chronic metabolic disorders with high prevalence and significant health impacts. Both conditions share common pathophysiological pathways including abnormal lipid metabolism and inflammation. Berberine (BBR), an isoquinoline alkaloid, is known for its beneficial effects on various metabolic and cardiovascular disorders.

Aims: We sought to characterize the clinical course of patients following worsening heart failure (WHF) treated in an outpatient setting and to identify factors associated with a poor response to standard of care with loop diuretics.
Methods And Results: Between September 2022 and March 2023, 44 eligible patients (mean age 66.3 years, 84% male) with ejection fraction <50% and with WHF symptoms in the preceding week treated in an outpatient setting were enrolled.

Background: Colchicine is widely used for gout and familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) and has cardiovascular benefits. However, it is linked to various adverse drug reactions (ADRs). This study aimed to analyze colchicine-related ADRs using FAERS data for safer clinical use.

Aim: Assessment of blood pressure during exercise is routine in athletes, but normal values remain equivocal. This study examines the response of systolic blood pressure (SBP) to exercise in a large cohort of athletes and establishes normative values by sex and age.
Methods: Competitive athletes free of cardiovascular disease underwent pre-participation exercise testing on a bicycle ergometer.

Background: Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is a significant clinical challenge. Semaglutide has therapeutic potential in cardiovascular disease management, but its specific impact and mechanisms in AMI are not fully understood.
Methods: Twenty-four male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into three groups: control (Control), infarction-only (MI), and semaglutide-treated (SEMA).
In Georgia, a prospective financing system for hospital services using diagnosis-related groups (DRGs) was introduced in 2022 to increase the efficiency and transparency of the healthcare system. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the impact of DRG-based hospital reimbursement on the efficiency of medical care for patients with myocardial infarction. Hospitalization data from three large hospitals in Georgia before and after the introduction of DRGs, covering the period from 2021 to 2024, were analyzed.

(1) Background: Heart failure (HF) leads to functional disability and major cardiovascular events (MACEs). Cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) is the gold standard for assessing aerobic capacity and prognostic stratification. This study aimed to evaluate the predischarge CPET variables in patients with acute decompensated HF and identify the submaximal CPET variables with prognostic value.

Transcatheter tricuspid valve replacement (TTVR) has emerged as a promising intervention for the treatment of severe tricuspid regurgitation with complex valve morphology. This consensus document provides a comprehensive overview of the current state of orthotopic TTVR, focusing on patient selection, procedural details, and follow-up care. Clinical outcomes from initial studies and compassionate use cases are discussed, highlighting the effectiveness of TTVR in reducing tricuspid regurgitation, inducing reverse right ventricular remodeling, and enhancing patients' quality of life.

Background: Sex is a determinant of the incidence and etiology of arrhythmia. Observational and basic studies suggest that sex hormones are essential in this process; however, the relationship between sex hormones and arrhythmia remains unclear. Mendelian randomization (MR) was used to investigate the causal relationships between sex hormone levels, arrhythmia, and electrocardiographic (ECG) indices.

: Vascular access site complications (VASCs) after endovascular interventions requiring a large-bore access are frequent and known to be associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Although balloon-expandable covered stents (BECSs) are increasingly used in such indications, their performance in this rather hostile territory is currently unknown. We aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of BECSs in common femoral artery (CFA) VASCs management.

Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are complex, multifactorial conditions that require personalized assessment and treatment. Advancements in multi-omics technologies, namely RNA sequencing and whole-genome sequencing, have provided translational researchers with a comprehensive view of the human genome. The efficient synthesis and analysis of this data through integrated approach that characterizes genetic variants alongside expression patterns linked to emerging phenotypes, can reveal novel biomarkers and enable the segmentation of patient populations based on personalized risk factors.

We aimed to explore the predictive role of soluble urokinase plasminogen activator receptor (suPAR) in patients undergoing coronary angiography by systematically evaluating its association with adverse cardiovascular events at 10 years follow-up. The KORONEF study was a single-center, observational, prospective study with 492 subjects included. In the multivariable Cox regression model, we checked the impact of suPAR, neutrophil elastase, myeloperoxidase, and DNase 1 on long-term outcomes.
