The Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO) maintains the world's largest extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) registry by volume, center participation, and international scope. This 2022 ELSO Registry Report describes the program characteristics of ECMO centers, processes of ECMO care, and reported outcomes. Neonates (0-28 days), children (29 days-17 years), and adults (≥18 years) supported with ECMO from 2009 through 2022 and reported to the ELSO Registry were included.

Background: Structural heart disease is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in children. Echocardiography is accepted as the first line cost-effective diagnostic modality for pre-operative assessment of children with structural heart diseases. Two-dimensional transthoracic echocardiography (2-D TTE) may be the only diagnostic tool in a resource-poor environment where further investigations may be very expensive and not readily available.

Cardiovascular care is expensive; hence, economic evaluation is required to estimate resources being consumed and to ensure their optimal utilization. There is dearth of data regarding cost analysis of treating various diseases including cardiac diseases from developing countries. The study aimed to analyze resource consumption in treating cardio-vascular disease patients in a super-specialty hospital.

Background And Objectives: Cognitive and physical difficulties are common in survivors of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA); both survivors and close family members are also at risk of developing mood disorders. In the UK, dedicated follow-up pathways for OHCA survivors and their family are lacking. A cohort of survivors and family members were surveyed regarding their experience of post-discharge care and their recommended improvements.

Objectives: Advances in virtual, augmented and mixed reality have led to the development of wearable technologies including head mounted displays (HMD) and smart glasses. While there is a growing interest on their potential applications in health, only a few studies have addressed so far their use in vascular surgery. The aim of this review was to summarize the fundamental notions associated with these technologies and to discuss potential applications and current limits for their use in vascular surgery.

This case report is a description of an uncommon delayed presentation of penetrating trauma of lower limb with history of inciting event being 45 years ago, as there are only 4 such reported cases in the literature. A 65-year-old male presented with progressive enlargement of swelling over the anterior aspect of the right thigh with difficulty in walking due to mechanical effects and paraesthesia in the affected limb. Clinical signs of a large lump in the right anteromedial thigh with no pulsations were present.

Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of yoga as an adjuvant to conventional medical management on clinical outcomes in patients with migraine.
Methods: CONTAIN was a prospective, randomized, open-label superiority trial with blinded endpoint assessment carried out at a single tertiary care academic hospital in New Delhi, India. Patients enrolled were aged 18-50 years with a diagnosis of episodic migraine and were randomized into medical and yoga groups (1:1).

Background: Evidence regarding the role of non-invasive marker of airway inflammation, fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) to guide asthma treatment is equivocal. We aimed to evaluate if the use of FeNO to adjust inhaled corticosteroid treatment resulted in reduced daily corticosteroid use and lesser exacerbations.
Methods: 100 patients of bronchial asthma in the age group of 12-70 years were randomised to receive inhaled corticosteroids based on either FeNO measurements ( = 50) or as per Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA) guidelines.

Objective: The Nellix EndoVascular Aneurysm Sealing (EVAS) system has offered a novel approach in the treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA). While it is currently indicated as a primary procedure in patients with infrarenal AAA with suitable anatomy according to the indications for use, a few studies aimed to address its potential interest in failed endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR). The aim of this systematic review was to analyze the postoperative outcomes of patients with prior EVAR who underwent EVAS.

Imaging software have become critical tools in the diagnosis and the treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA). The aim of this study was to develop a fully automated software system to enable a fast and robust detection of the vascular system and the AAA. The software was designed from a dataset of injected CT-scans images obtained from 40 patients with AAA.

Aims: Implanters of cardiac implantable electronic devices cannot easily choose devices by longevity as usually current models only have projected longevity data since those with known performance are obsolete. This study examines how projected device longevities are derived, the influencing factors, and their roles in guiding model choice.
Methods And Results: Ninety-eight implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) and cardiac resynchronization therapy-defibrillator (CRT-D) models released in Europe in 2007-17 were analysed for reported battery capacities, projected longevities for standardized settings stipulated by the French Haute Autorité de Santé (HAS) and manufacturer-chosen settings.

Background: The aim of this study was to report the treatment of type Ia and type III endoleaks after endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) or chimney EVAR using endovascular aneurysm sealing (EVAS) and chimney EVAS.
Methods: Ten consecutive patients who underwent the EVAS procedure to treat endoleaks after EVAR were retrospectively included between July 2015 and July 2017. Technical success of EVAS was defined as a successful sealing of the Nellix endograft with visceral vessel patency on intraoperative completion angiography.

Objective: Trans-fat, an invariable component of industrial fat is considered as one of the major dietary factors associated with CVD. Although the use of trans-fat is completely banned in some of the high-income countries where the CVD epidemic is declining, it is widely used in LMIC. We aimed to investigate the association of trans fatty acid in serum with risk markers of CVD in an industrial population in India.

Background: Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is known to be an important reason for the increase in disabilities and deaths worldwide. Studies have demonstrated that brain tissue oxygen (PO2) monitoring reduces mortality significantly but is a invasive method of monitoring. Therefore, there is a need to monitor cerebral ischemia in TBI by noninvasive methods.

Sodium, an element needed for the normal human physiology is known to be associated with high blood pressure and other consequences if consumed in excess. The assessment of knowledge and behavior related to sodium that is consumed in the form of salt plays an important role in the control of cardiovascular diseases. To control the intake of sodium, dietary sources of sodium need to be identified.

Purpose: To evaluate impact of polar renal artery coverage on early renal function after chimney endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR).
Materials And Methods: Consecutive patients who underwent chimney EVAR for treatment of asymptomatic juxtarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm were retrospectively included. Estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) was recorded before the intervention and at 1-, 5-, 7-, and 30-day follow-up.

Background: Microscopic observation drug susceptibility (MODS) assay has been suggested as a low cost method for rapid, accurate detection of tuberculosis (TB) and multidrug resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB).
Methods: A total of 2424 samples collected from 1063 eligible patients of suspected pulmonary or extrapulmonary TB were subjected to MODS assay. Performance of MODS was compared with culture and drug susceptibility testing (DST) by conventional solid Lowenstein-Jensen (LJ) media or liquid Mycobacteria Growth Indicator Tube (MGIT) culture.
Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) is an alternative to open surgical aortic valve replacement and the impact of diabetes on vascular outcomes is worth of investigation. The aim of our study was to determine if diabetic patients had distinct pre-operative characteristics compared to non-diabetics and to evaluate the impact of the disease on vascular outcomes. Four hundred consecutive patients who underwent TAVI with percutaneous transfemoral access were retrospectively included.
