Article Synopsis
  • Cardiac hemangioma is a rare, benign tumor that can be asymptomatic or cause symptoms depending on its location and interaction with nearby structures.
  • A case study describes a 79-year-old patient diagnosed with right cardiac hemangioma after experiencing severe symptoms like fluid buildup and heart failure.
  • The tumor was successfully removed using cardiopulmonary bypass, leading to a favorable outcome after 12 months, highlighting its unusual size and location near the tricuspid valve.

Objective: Concerns exist about the possible detrimental effects of exercise training on aortic size and valve function in individuals with bicuspid aortic valve (BAV). This multicentre international study aimed to determine the characteristics of aortic size and valve function in athletes versus non-athletes with BAV and athletes with tricuspid aortic valve (TAV).

Methods: We enrolled competitive athletes with BAV and age- and sex-matched athletes with TAV and non-athletes with BAV.

In cancer, a patient is considered a survivor from the time of initial diagnosis until the end of life. With improvements in early diagnosis and treatment, the number of cancer survivors (CS) has grown considerably and includes: (1) Patients cured and free from cancer who may be at risk of late-onset cancer therapy-related cardiovascular toxicity (CTR-CVT); (2) Patients with long-term control of not-curable cancers in whom CTR-CVT may need to be addressed. This paper highlights the importance of the cancer care continuum, of a patient-centered approach and of a prevention-oriented policy.

The interaction between the implanter team and the imager team is critical to the success of transcatheter native mitral valve replacement (TMVR), a novel interventional procedure in the therapeutic arsenal for mitral regurgitation. This imaging scenario necessitates the addition of a new dedicated professional figure, dubbed "the interventional imager," with specific expertise in structural heart disease procedures. As its clinical application grows, knowledge of the various imaging modalities used in the TMVR procedure is required for the interventional imager and beneficial for the interventional implanter team.

Although Heart Transplant is still the gold standard treatment for end-stage heart failure patients, the limitation of this procedure is the discrepancy between the amount of waiting list patients and donors. Organ Care Systems, preventing the detrimental effects of cold ischemia, potentially increase donor pool. Herein we report three cases where high-risk excisions were required to clarify the nature of suspected lesions in donors.

Aims: Hyperuricaemia and gout are strongly related with traditional cardiovascular risk factors and vascular damage. This study aimed to assess whether febuxostat and allopurinol could differently influence carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity (cfPWV) in patients with gout and elevated serum uric acid (SUA) levels.

Methods And Results: A multi-centre, multinational, phase IV, randomized, parallel-group, active-controlled, open-label trial with blind endpoints evaluation.
