Medial epicondylalgia (ME), commonly known as "the golfer's elbow", typically develops in individuals who perform repetitive forearm movements and weight-bearing activities. It accounts for up to 20% of all epicondylitis cases and is most prevalent in particular sports and occupations. Though the diagnosis can be made based on sole clinical examination, additional imaging might be essential for confirmation of medial epicondylitis and excluding other pathologies of the medial epicondyle region.

Biocompatible polyacrylamide gel and core-shell nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized using a one-step electrochemically initiated gelation. Constant-potential electrochemical decomposing of ammonium persulfate initiated the copolymerization of -isopropyl acrylamide, methacrylic acid, and ,'-methylenebisacrylamide monomers. This decomposing potential and monomers' concentrations were optimized to prepare gel NPs and thin gel film-grafted core-shell NPs.

Crystalline products of vapor diffusion of an alcoholic solution of 1R,4R-camphor into an aqueous solution of α-cyclodextrin were prepared and subjected to X-ray structure analysis. Two different forms were obtained: a dimeric cavity formed by head-to-head association of cyclodextrin (phase A), and a complex set of monomeric cavities (phase B). Both contain camphor molecules orientationally disordered inside cavities.

is one of the most frequently detected protozoa in the human large intestine. One of the most effective and cheap methods for detecting in faeces is culture on a special medium in anaerobic conditions. Sampling faeces using traditional containers and their transport to the laboratory has certain limitations: a sample taken in this way should reach the laboratory relatively quickly, moreover, some patients are uncomfortable during sampling and protection of material in this way.

Avascular necrosis (AVN) of the femoral head is caused by disruption of the blood supply to the proximal femur. The alterations in the blood supply may occur following a traumatic event or result from a non-traumatic cause. Femoral neck fracture and hip dislocation and associated surgical procedures, corticosteroid therapy, and alcohol abuse frequently lead to AVN development.

Objective: We examined changes in value interrelations during middle childhood. In line with the Personal Values Theory, we expected a value system, with individuals similarly valuing related motivations, and setting priorities between conflicting motivations. We hypothesized this system to develop dynamically during middle childhood as children deepen their understanding of their own values.

The use of elemental metallic powders and in situ alloying in additive manufacturing (AM) is of industrial relevance as it offers the required flexibility to tailor the batch powder composition. This solution has been applied to the AM manufacturing of nickel-titanium (NiTi) shape memory alloy components. In this work, we show that laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) can be used to create a NiTi alloyed component, but that the chemical composition of the build has a large heterogeneity.

Powder bed fusion using a laser beam (PBF-LB) is a commonly used additive manufacturing (3D printing) process for the fabrication of various parts from pure metals and their alloys. This work shows for the first time the possibility of using PBF-LB technology for the production of 3D titanium substrates (Ti 3D) for surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) measurements. Thanks to the specific development of the 3D titanium surface and its nanoscale modification by the formation of TiO nanotubes with a diameter of ~80 nm by the anodic oxidation process, very efficient SERS substrates were obtained after deposition of silver nanoparticles (0.

The metabolic disorder Wilson's disease (WD) is caused by copper accumulation in the tissues due to a biallelic pathogenic mutation of the gene ATP7B, encoding intracellular copper transporter ATPase-7B. As copper is a redox active metal; aberrations in its homeostasis may create favourable conditions for superoxide-yielding redox cycling and oxidative damage to the cells. We tried to characterise antioxidant defence in WD patients and to evaluate whether it is related to liver function.

Orthotopic heart transplantation (OHT) has become one of the most expensive and resource-consuming treatment options for patients with end-stage heart failure. It is therefore useful to review clinical data, such as treatment duration after surgery and midterm follow-up in this group of patients. Contemporary epidemiologic data on early and midterm OHT follow-ups including patient demographics, hospitalization rates and related post-OHT morbidity, and mortality are scarce in Poland.

Historically, there has be a close relationship between the nursing services and spiritual care provision to patients, arising due to the evolvement of many hospitals and nursing programmes from faith-based institutions and religious order nursing. With increasing secularism, these relationships are less entwined. Nonetheless, as nurses typically encounter patients at critical life events, such as receiving bad news or dying, nurses frequently understand the need and requirement for both spiritual support and religious for patients and families during these times.

From an integrative approach of parable interpretation that combines ethical, evolutionary, historical, and psychological perspectives, the current research empirically examined the purely theorized assumption elucidating the behaviors of the priest, Levite, and Samaritan in the good Samaritan parable (Luke 10:25-37) by the regulatory focus theory. In one experiment conducted during the COVID-19 outbreak, 93 Polish participants were randomly assigned to a simulated vignette of the good Samaritan parable where either the prevention or promotion regulatory focus was manipulated. The results confirmed a certain favorable tendency to offer quasi-realistic help in both the regulatory focus conditions.

We propose a model of basic self-regulatory mechanisms that integrates descriptive-structural and dynamic-explanatory approaches to personality. Using a structural way of thinking and based on a structural model of personality (the Circumplex of Personality Metatraits), we deduced two orthogonal (distinct) but interactive mechanisms: (a) Impulse Control responsible for controlling automatically activated impulses, urges, and affective reactions and (b) Self-Motivation responsible for regulating intentions in goal-oriented behaviors. Their operation depends on both situational and dispositional factors and optimal functioning of both mechanisms is needed for effective regulation of behavior.
