Background: Religiousness has been consistently linked to positive health outcomes and flourishing, yet the underlying mechanisms are complex and not well-understood. The forgiveness and relational spirituality model offers a framework to explore the moderated mediation among religious commitment, health, and forgiveness by God. Understanding these relationships among university students and community residents in Trinidad and Tobago can provide valuable insights into the role of religiousness in promoting wellbeing.

Public support for new tobacco control measures in Poland: A cross-sectional survey 2024.

Introduction: This study assessed public support for new tobacco control measures in Poland, including a smoking ban on private balconies, regular tobacco tax increases, and a total ban on tobacco sales.

Methods: A nationwide cross-sectional survey was conducted in 2024 using a computer-assisted web interview (CAWI). The 1080 adults (aged 18-82 years) were interviewed, of which 53% were females.

Background: Cannabis and its derivatives show encouraging therapeutic effects in the treatment of various diseases. However, further studies are needed to better assess their efficacy and safety. A promising base for research in the field of medicine and additional pharmacovigilance is social networks, in which experience and knowledge are exchanged between researchers, doctors, and patients, as well as information about the potential risks and benefits of using drugs for medical purposes is disseminated.

There is an interplay between plasma cells, endometritis, and infertility, particularly in the context of in vitro fertilization (IVF) failure. This narrative literature review explains the pathophysiology of endometritis, detailing the involvement of various immune cells, cytokines, and chemokines in the regulation of inflammatory responses within the uterine endometrium. Here, we discuss the physiological role of plasma cells in immunity and their detection as markers of chronic endometritis, a disease associated with reproductive disorders.

Wishful perceiving: A value-based bias for perception of close others.

Why do people not perceive their close others accurately, although they have ample information about them? We propose that one reason for such errors may be bias based on personal values. Personal values may serve as schemas defining what people see as positive, and thus affect perceptions of others' behavior, values, and traits. We propose that, in close relationships, people see others as sharing their own values.

This study analyses #GlobalHealth to understand its pattern, global digital distribution, and other parameters during the COVID-19 pandemic on X.

Detection of active an Schistosoma haematobium invasion in a patient, based on the microscopic examination of urine.

A parasitological examination of urine from a patient from Cameroon was performed. The eggs of Schistosoma haematobium were observed. Most of the eggs were viable and contained miracidia; these were subjected to observation.

Leaders at Italian Alzheimer's Cafés addressing ethical issues: from advocacy response against human trafficking to approach with persons living with dementia.

Objectives: This article features results of a qualitative research conducted with twenty-nine men and women responsible for Alzheimer's cafés in Italy, on the topic of ethical issues in dementia care. The goal was to identify the sources of moral distress for caregivers, exploring some bottom-up solutions that have been implemented shared with others in informal settings.

Method: During the in-depth interviews participants shared about challenges and opportunities related to dementia care and ethics, informed by the symbolic interactionist approach to the theory of social representations.

Checklist and distribution of ladybirds (Coleoptera, Coccinellidae) in Iranian provinces.

Although checklists of the Iranian ladybird beetles (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) have been made twice in recent years, they have a number of shortcomings. Moreover, since these checklist were published, several ladybird species have been added to the Iranian fauna and several previously reported have been excluded. We therefore compiled an updated checklist of Coccinellidae found in Iran and its individual provinces based on available literature and previously unpublished records.

Numerous risky driving behaviours are considered the main causes of road accidents. Meanwhile, a number of studies conducted so far indicate that perceiving a higher risk in a certain behaviour is associated with a lower tendency to engage in that behaviour. Accordingly, the aim of this study was to examine whether there are differences in specific types of risky behaviours behind the wheel in relation to drivers' perceptions of road risk.

Wilson's disease (WD) is an autosomal recessive disorder of copper metabolism. The genetic defect in WD affects the gene, which encodes the ATP7B transmembrane protein, which is essential for maintaining normal copper homeostasis in the body. It is primarily expressed in the liver and acts by incorporating copper into ceruloplasmin (Cp), the major copper transport protein in the blood.

Molecular and Environmental Determinants of Addictive Substances.

Knowledge about determinants of addiction in people taking addictive substances is poor and needs to be supplemented. The novelty of this paper consists in the analysis of innovative aspects of current research about relationships between determinants of addiction in Polish patients taking addictive substances and rare available data regarding the relationships between these factors from studies from recent years from other environments, mainly in Europe, and on the development of genetic determinants of physiological responses. We try to explain the role of the microelements Mn, Fe, Cu, Co, Zn, Cr, Ni, Tl, Se, Al, B, Mo, V, Sn, Sb, Ag, Sr, and Ba, the toxic metals Cd, Hg, As, and Pb, and the rare earth elements Sc, La, Ce, Pr, Eu, Gd, and Nd as factors that may shape the development of addiction to addictive substances or drugs.

Dating App Users: Interpersonal Styles and Self-Reported Mating Success.

In this study ( = 495), dating apps were conceptualized as digital leks. We examined how interpersonal (narcissism, Machiavellianism, psychopathy), sexual (sociosexual attitudes, desires, and behavior), and search (satisficing, alternatives) styles relate to mating success through dating apps (dates and sex). Individuals with a faster life history strategy, particularly men high in psychopathy and sexual desires, report more mating success via dating apps.

Background: Psychedelics have gained increasing interest in scientific research due to their ability to induce profound alterations in perception, emotional processing and self-consciousness. However, the research regarding the functioning of individuals who use psychedelics in naturalistic contexts remains limited.

Aims: Here we aim to explore psychological and neurophysiological differences between naturalistic psychedelics users and non-users in terms of processing of self-related thoughts.

Photoinduced removal of molecular oxygen from solutions.

We propose a new, simple and efficient procedure of light-driven deoxygenation of solutions based on hydroperoxides formation upon irradiation. Efficient and fast removal of molecular oxygen is caused by photosensitized generation of singlet oxygen, which then reacts with the solvent (2-methyltetrahydrofuran or tetrahydrofuran). Oxygen depletion makes it possible to observe processes normally undetectable in non-degassed liquid samples at room temperature, such as phosphorescence and triplet-triplet annihilation.

CardiLect: A combined cross-species lectin histochemistry protocol for the automated analysis of cardiac remodelling.

Background: Cardiac remodelling, a crucial aspect of heart failure, is commonly investigated in preclinical models by quantifying cardiomyocyte cross-sectional area (CSA) and microvascular density (MVD) via histological methods, such as immunohistochemistry. To achieve this, optimized protocols are needed, and the species specificity is dependent on the antibody used. Lectin histochemistry offers several advantages compared to antibody-based immunohistochemistry, including as cost-effectiveness and cross-species applicability.

The Impact of Neutrophil-to-High-Density Lipoprotein Ratio and Serum 25-Hydroxyvitamin D on Ischemic Heart Disease.

This study describes the complex association between the neutrophil-to-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (NHR), 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D) levels, and cardiovascular disease (CVD), such as stable ischemic heart disease (IHD), ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI), and unstable angina (UA). The serum 25(OH)D concentration and NHR values were analyzed in groups of patients with chronic coronary syndrome (CCS) and acute coronary syndrome (ACS). The severity of coronary artery atherosclerosis was determined using the Coronary Artery Surgery Study (CASS) scale.
