The surgical treatment of colorectal cancer will be more and more accurate and minimally invasive under the guidance of precision medicine. At the same time, it will derive and evolve non-surgical paths, such as immune checkpoint inhibitors and immune targeted therapy for microsatellite instability high/mismatch repair deficient colorectal cancer, and wait and watch path after neoadjuvant treatment for low advanced rectal cancer. Laparoscopic minimally invasive surgery for colorectal cancer will be gradually iterated by robots, which is the only way to intelligent surgery.

Background: The study aimed to examine the bidirectional relationship between sarcopenia and depressive symptoms in a national, community-based cohort study, despite the unclear temporal sequence demonstrated previously.
Methods: Data were derived from four waves (2011 baseline and 2013, 2015, and 2018 follow-ups) of the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS). A total of 17,708 participants aged 45 years or older who had baseline data on both sarcopenia status and depressive symptoms in 2011 were included in the study.

This study aimed to investigate the effect of the transverse sinus (TS) stenosis (TSS) position caused by arachnoid granulation on patients with venous pulsatile tinnitus (VPT) and to further identify the types of TSS that are of therapeutic significance for patients. Multiphysics interaction models of six patients with moderate TSS caused by arachnoid granulation and virtual stent placement in TSS were reconstructed, including three patients with TSS located in the middle segment of the TS (group 1) and three patients with TTS in the middle and proximal involvement segment of the TS (group 2). The transient multiphysics interaction simulation method was applied to elucidate the differences in biomechanical and acoustic parameters between the two groups.

Mycotoxins are a class of exogenous metabolites that are major contributors to foodborne diseases and pose a potential threat to human health. However, little attention has been paid to trace mycotoxin co-exposure situations in vivo. To address this, we devised a novel analytical strategy, both highly sensitive and comprehensive, for quantifying 67 mycotoxins in human plasma samples.

Myocardial ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury is a prevalent cause of myocardial injury, involving a series of interconnected pathophysiological processes. However, there is currently no clinical therapy for effectively mitigating myocardial I/R injury. Here, we show that p85α protein levels increase in response to I/R injury through a comprehensive analysis of cardiac proteomics, and confirm this in the I/R-injured murine heart and failing human myocardium.

T-helper 17 cells and regulatory T cells (Treg) are critical regulators in the pathogenesis of multiple sclerosis (MS) but the factors affecting Treg/Th17 balance remains largely unknown. Redox balance is crucial to maintaining immune homeostasis and reducing the severity of MS but the underlying mechanisms are unclear yet. Herein, we tested the hypothesis that peroxynitrite, a representative molecule of reactive nitrogen species (RNS), could inhibit peripheral Treg cells, disrupt Treg/Th17 balance and aggravate MS pathology by inducing nitration of interleukin-2 receptor (IL-2R) and down-regulating RAS/JNK-AP-1 signalling pathway.

The human brain is organized as a complex, hierarchical network. However, the structural covariance patterns among brain regions and the underlying biological substrates of such covariance networks remain to be clarified. The present study proposed a novel individualized structural covariance network termed voxel-based texture similarity networks (vTSNs) based on 76 refined voxel-based textural features derived from structural magnetic resonance images.

Molecular genetics is highly related with prognosis of high-grade glioma. Accordingly, the latest WHO guideline recommends that molecular subgroups of the genes, including IDH, 1p/19q, MGMT, TERT, EGFR, Chromosome 7/10, CDKN2A/B, need to be detected to better classify glioma and guide surgery and treatment. Unfortunately, there is no preoperative or intraoperative technology available for accurate and comprehensive molecular subgrouping of glioma.

The global chronic hepatitis B (CHB) guidelines have gradually expanded treatment indications in order to accelerate the elimination and improve the treatment rate of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. This article analyzes the new treatment concepts for chronic hepatitis B at home and abroad from two aspects: expanding treatment by paying more attention to the long-term prognosis of the disease and maximizing the use of existing drugs in order to achieve the early goal of the World Health Organization's of eliminating viral hepatitis by 2030.

Patients with emergent conditions are prone to develop intra-abdominal hypertension (IAH) and abdominal compartment syndrome (ACS), which are closely associated with adverse outcomes. Currently, there is a lack of guiding documents for the management of IAH/ACS in the emergency departments in China. Based on a systematic review of recent researches and clinical experiences in emergency departments, the Emergency Medicine Branch if Chinese Medical Association and other professional organizations have jointly formulated the Emergency expert consensus on diagnosis and treatment of intra-abdominal hypertension and abdominal compartment syndrome in adults in China (2024) to enhance the diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities of emergency physicians regarding adult IAH/ACS.

Background: Antiretroviral therapy (ART) was often associated with dyslipidemia among human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) patients. This study aimed to assess treatment-naïve adult male patients with HIV/AIDS who initiated ART with either co-formulated bictegravir, emtricitabine, and tenofovir alafenamide (BIC/FTC/TAF) or lamivudine, efavirenz, and tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (3TC+EFV+TDF), monitoring at weeks 4, 12, 24, and 48.
Methods: A case-control retrospective study was conducted.

Achieving robust soft tissue integration around dental implants is crucial for long-term clinical success, as it forms a protective biological seal against bacterial invasion. However, the soft tissue attachment to implants is relatively deficient compared to natural teeth, particularly in the connective tissue region lacking sufficient gingival fibroblasts and collagen fiber alignment. This study proposed an innovative strategy to enhance peri‑implant soft tissue integration by modulating gingival fibroblast behavior via photothermal conversion.

Background: Overconsumption of sodium has been identified as a key driving factor for diet-related cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). China, being a country bearing a hefty burden of CVD, has a large population with diverse cultural traditions and ethnic beliefs, which complicates the patterns of dietary sodium intake, necessitating a systematic investigation into the profile of the high sodium intake (HSI)-related burden of CVD within its subregions. This study aims to estimate the evolving patterns of HSI-induced CVD burden across China from 1990 to 2019.

Stem cell-mediated tissue regeneration is a promising strategy for repairing tissue defects and functional reconstruction in periodontitis, a common disease that leads to the loss of alveolar bone and teeth. However, stem cell apoptosis, widely observed during tissue regeneration, impairs its efficiency. Therefore, the regulation of stem cell apoptosis is critical for improving regeneration efficiency.
