Zhongguo Shi Yan Xue Ye Xue Za Zhi

June 2010

Center of heamatological Diseases, Beijing Chlidren's Hospital, Capital University of Medical Science, Beijng 100045, China.

To investigate whether the RBC lysing solution can affect the results of relative enumeration of CD34(+) cells, 37 mobile peripheral blood apheresis products were stained using CD34-PE and CD45-FITC monoclone antibodies and RBCs were then lysed by two lysing solution commercially available (one named FACS Lysing Solution, FACS; another IOTest 3 Lysing Solution, IOTest) and one lysing solution self-prepared. After being processed by lyse-and-then-washed method, samples were detected by FACSC anto flow cytometer. The percentages of CD34(+) cells were determined based on ISHAGE gating strategy, forward and side scatter (FSC and SSC) characteristics, percentage of CD45(+) cells were recorded simultaneously.

Objective: To explore associations between levels of total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG) and incidence of ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes in populations.

Methods: Baseline investigations on stroke-related risk factors and physical examinations were performed in 10 093 (> 35 years) stroke-free urban community residents from 5 cities in China during May to July in 1987, follow-up investigations on stroke events were made during 1998 to 2000. The hazard ratios and 95% confidence intervals (CI) of ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes in middle, high tertiles of baseline TC or TG levels were compared with low baseline tertile residents using the Cox regression model.

Bisphenol A (BPA) is a monomer used in manufacturing a wide range of chemical products, including epoxy resins and polycarbonate. BPA, an important endocrine disrupting chemical that exerts estrogen-like activities, is detectable at nanomolar levels in human serum worldwide. The pregnancy associated doses of 17beta-estradiol (E2) plus tumor-necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) induce distorted maturation of human dendritic cells (DCs) that result in an increased capacity to induce T helper (Th) 2 responses.

Background: In recent years, the radial artery (RA) has become an alternative vascular access site for percutaneous coronary procedures, and the ulnar artery (UA) is another possibility. The objective of this study was to investigate the anatomy of the forearm arteries with ultrasound (US) and to evaluate the effect of the anatomy of the right RA (RRA) on the outcomes of transradial coronary procedures.

Methods And Results: The 638 patients undergoing transradial coronary procedures were examined with US for measurement of the diameters of the forearm arteries and determination of their anatomical abnormalities before the procedures.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examined the psychological characteristics of patients with allergic rhinitis (AR) using the Symptom Checklist-90 (SCL-90), revealing that 10% showed abnormal psychological states while 77% were completely healthy.
  • Male AR patients exhibited worse psychological conditions compared to females, particularly in areas like anxiety and depression.
  • Patients with AR who also had asthma or eczema experienced significantly worse psychological outcomes, particularly regarding compulsion and interpersonal sensitivity.

Comb-shaped conjugates comprising hydroxypropyl cellulose backbones and low-molecular-weight poly(N-isopropylacryamide) side chains for smart hydrogels: synthesis, characterization, and biomedical applications.

Bioconjug Chem

State Key Laboratory of Chemical Resource Engineering, Key Laboratory of Carbon Fiber and Functional Polymers, Ministry of Education, College of Materials Science & Engineering, Beijing University of Chemical Technology, Beijing, China 100029, Brain Tumor Research Center, Beijing Neurosurgical Institute, Capital University of Medical Science, Beijing, China 100050, and State Key Laboratory of Molecular Oncology, Cancer Institute & Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Beijing, China 100021.

Hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC) possesses a lower critical solution temperature (LCST) above 40 °C, while the poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (P(NIPAAm)) exhibits a LCST of about 32 °C. Herein, comb-shaped copolymer conjugates of HPC backbones and low-molecular-weight P(NIPAAm) side chains (HPC-g-P(NIPAAm) or HPN) were prepared via atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) from the bromoisobutyryl-functionalized HPC biopolymers. By changing the composition ratio of HPC and P(NIPAAm), the LCSTs of HPNs can be adjusted to be lower than the body temperature.
