Objective: To investigate the positive ratio and clinical significance of PreS1Ag and anti-PreS1 in patients with chronic hepatitis B.
Methods: 428 patients with chronic HBV infection were collected, these patients were divided into e antigen-positive CHB group, e antigen-negative CHB group, inactive HBsAg carrier group and HBsAg serum conversion group. The difference of positive ratio of PreS1Ag and anti-PreS1 among all groups or between every two groups were analyzed; The relationship of PreS1Ag and anti-PreS1 with HBV M and HBV DNA were also analyzed.

Accumulating studies in animals have shown that nanoparticles could cause unusual rapid lung injury and extrapulmonary toxicity. Whether exposure of workers to nanoparticles may result in some unexpected damage as seen in animals is still a big concern. We previously reported findings regarding a group of patients exposed to nanoparticles and presenting with an unusual disease.

This study was designed to investigate the effect of aging on the glucose metabolism on cynomolgus (Macaca fascicularis) monkeys. A total of 33 cynomolgus monkeys in three aged groups were monitored for glucose levels, serum parameters in fasting state and somatometric measurements. Intravenous glucose tolerance test (IVGTT) and insulin tolerance test (ITT) were also performed.

Purpose: Several studies have compared the effects of coronary stenting and coronary- artery bypass grafting (CABG) on left main coronary artery (LMCA) disease. However, there are limited data on the long-term outcomes of these two interventions in diabetic patients.
Materials And Methods: We evaluated 56 patients with LMCA stenosis who underwent drug-eluting stent (DES) implantation and 116 patients who underwent CABG in a single hospital in China between January 2004 and December 2006.

Background: Familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) is a heritable disorder that can increase the risk of premature coronary heart disease. Studies suggest there are substantial genetic heterogeneities for different populations. Here we tried to identify novel susceptibility loci for FH in a Chinese pedigree.

Objective: To analyze the result of the distal radial fractures with or without ulnar styloid fracture.
Methods: From January 2007 to October 2010, 62 cases with distal radial fractures were treated by ORIF, of which 52 were followed-up entirely with an average of 15 months (6-34 months), including 6 male cases and 46 female cases at an average age of (62.25±8.

Background: Despite great advances in modern obstetrics, uterine rupture (UR) remains one of the most frightening complications with high morbidity and mortality.
Objective: To improve the diagnosis and management of UR.
Results: We report two cases of UR.
Objective: To explore the mechanism of acupoint injection of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs) in improving blood flow in the rat with hind limb ischemia.
Methods: Twenty-four SD rats were randomly divided into 4 groups: normal control group (n = 6), model group (n = 6), BM-MSCs acupoint injection group (AI group, n = 6) and BM-MSC intramuscular injection group (MI group, n = 6). Sanyinjiao (SP 6), Housanli (ST 36), Zhaohai (KI 6), Huantiao (GB 30) and Yanglingquan (GB 34) were selected for the AI group, and five non-acupoints were selected on gastrocnemius and adductor of ischemic hind limbs in the MI group.

Objective: To Evaluate the effects of different oxygen therapies on the rats with acute nitrogen asphyxia and to study the best oxygen therapic protocol for patients with acute nitrogen asphyxia on the spot.
Methods: Sixty healthy male Wistar rats were divided into 5 groups: control, exposure to nitrogen, 33% oxygen treatment, 50% oxygen treatment and hyperbaric oxygen treatment groups. The behavioral performance, arterial oxygen pressure (PO2), carbon dioxide partial pressure (PCO2) and oxygen saturation (SPO2), biochemical changes in liver and kidney function and myocardial enzymes in 5 groups were measured.

Objective: To evaluate the effects of different oxygen therapy technique (different concentrations of normobaric oxygen and the hyperbaric oxygen) on the ultrastructure of cardiac muscle, lung and liver in rats with acute hydrogen sulfide intoxication.
Methods: One hundred healthy male Wistar rats were randomly divided into five groups: normal control group (A), poisoned group (B), oxygen therapy group (C), oxygen therapy group (D) and oxygen therapy group (E). After the exposure to 300 ppm H2S for 60 min in a static exposure tank (1 m3), the rats were treated with oxygen therapy, C, D and E groups were given 33% oxygen, 50% oxygen of atmospheric oxygen and hyperbaric oxygen therapy for 100 min, respectively.

Background/aims: Post-stroke complications may influence prognosis, and may even become potentially life-threatening. The aim of this prospective study was to examine the frequency and timing of medical complications during the acute stage of critical ischemic stroke in patients treated in a neurological intensive care unit.
Methods: Seventy acute ischemic stroke patients in a critical condition with morbid changes in organs other than the brain or with severe complications were admitted to a neurological intensive care unit and followed up with assessments of 15 specified complications during the first 2 weeks on days 2, 4, 7, and 14.

Purpose: Lidocaine is used to reduce the undesirable effects of ischemia because of its anti-inflammatory effects. Herein we investigated the effects of lidocaine on secondary ischemia in a skin flap model.
Materials And Methods: In this epigastric skin flap protocol in animals, we followed 2 hours of primary global ischemia with a reperfusion period of 6 hours and then either secondary arterial or venous ischemia for another 6 hours during which we tested the usefulness of lidocaine.

Background: Post-stroke depression (PSD) is a common consequence of stroke that negatively interferes with the rehabilitation outcome in patients. It remains unclear what relationship exists between the site and size of brain infarcts and the development of PSD and the risk factors for PSD. We conducted a MRI-based cohort study to examine the radiological correlations for PSD in Chinese patients with ischemic stroke.

Cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) has become an important clinical tool to evaluate exercise capacity and predict outcome for patients with lung cancer being considered for lung resection. CPET can help in stratifying the surgical risk and identify those high-risk patients with lung resection. Preoperative screening using CPET allow the selection of appropriate therapeutic approach to decrease surgical complications and mortality.

Background: Since the E-cadherin-catenin complex is of importance in the cancerogenesis of epithelial tumors, we examined the expression of E-cadherin and β-catenin in sebaceous adenocarcinomas of the eyelid and correlated the results with clinicopathological parameters.
Methods: The study included histological specimen of 32 patients with sebaceous adenocarcinomas of the eyelid. The expression of E-cadherin, β-catenin, and Ki-67 nuclear antigen was analyzed by immunohistochemistry.

Recently, a genome-wide association study reported an association between two single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) rs11833579 and rs12425791 near NINJ2 gene and ischemic stroke in Caucasians. Therefore, NINJ2 gene is an important candidate locus in the prevalence of ischemic stroke. We performed a hospital based genetic association study in Chinese Han subjects to investigate the relationship between NINJ2 gene and ischemic stroke.

Objective: To study the effect of different oxygen therapies on the rats with carbon dioxide poisoning for screening out the best on-the-spot oxygen-therapy technology for treating acute carbon dioxide poisoning.
Methods: The 60 healthy male Sprague Dawley rats were randomly divided into normal control group (A group), carbon dioxide poisoning group (B group), low-concentration oxygen inhalation treatment group (C group), high-concentration oxygen inhalation treatment group (D group) and hyperbaric oxygen-therapy group (E group). Various kinds of oxygen therapies were given after the contamination.
