Purpose: To compare the efficiency and safety between retroperitoneal laparoscopic nephrectomy and traditional open nephrectomy to treat autosomal-dominant polycystic kidney disease before kidney transplantation.
Materials And Methods: A total of 57 patients diagnosed with huge autosomal-dominant polycystic kidney disease between 2000 and 2020 at our center were included in this study. Patients were divided into a retroperitoneal laparoscopic (RL; n=23) group and traditional open (TO; n = 34) group.

Background: The high incidence of Gleason score upgrading (GSU) made urologists underestimate the disease, leading to the inaccurate therapeutic decision. The study aimed to explore relevant laboratory examination evidence associated with GSU.
Methods: Patients diagnosed with prostate carcinoma undergoing radical prostatectomy in our center between January 2015 and December 2019 were included in this retrospective study.

Metabolic and bariatric surgery (MBS) can generate a drastic shift of coding and noncoding RNA expression patterns in the gastrointestinal system, which triggers organ function remodeling and may induce type 2 diabetes (T2D) remission. Our previous studies have demonstrated that the altered expression profiles of duodenal and jejunal long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) after the duodenal-jejunal bypass (DJB), an investigational procedure and research tool of MBS, can improve glycemic control by modulating the entero-pancreatic axis and gut-brain axis, respectively. As an indiscerptible part of the intestine, the ileal lncRNA expression signatures after DJB and the critical pathways associated with postoperative correction of the impaired metabolism need to be investigated too.

Enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) is a multimodal, multidisciplinary approach for caring surgical patients. The present study aimed to compare the perioperative outcomes of laparoscopic bariatric surgery between patients with ERAS and those with conventional care. The clinical data of all patients undergoing primary laparoscopic bariatric surgery between January 2014 and June 2017 were retrospectively collected and reviewed.

Purpose: To explore the clinical outcomes and safety of ultrasound-guided microwave ablation (MWA) for treating thyroid benign solid nodules during a three-year follow-up.
Methods: A total of 53 patients with thyroid benign solid nodules with the largest diameter exceeding 2 cm were treated with US-guided MWA between January 2015 and December 2017. Nodule volume, the cosmetic score, and the symptom scores were evaluated before ablation and 1, 2, and 3 years after the operation.

Long-term survivors of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) are at high risk of developing second primary neoplasms, including leukemia. For these patients, the use of classic tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), such as imatinib mesylate, is strongly discouraged, since this treatment causes a tremendous increase of tumor and stem cell migration and invasion. We aimed to develop agents useful for the treatment of patients with GBM and chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) using an alternative mechanism of action from the TKIs, specifically based on the inhibition of tubulin polymerization.

Anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL) is a T-cell neoplasm characterized by uniformly strong CD30 expression and common absence of T-cell markers. Most ALCL cases express CD4, but a small subset of ALCL cases has been reported to express CD8. Little is known about the clinicopathologic and prognostic features of CD8+ ALCL.

Novel 3-aroyl-1,4-diarylpyrrole derivatives were synthesized to explore structure-activity relationships at the phenyls at positions 1 and 4 of the pyrrole. The presence of amino phenyl rings at positions 1 and 4 of the pyrrole ring were found to be a crucial requirement for potent antitumor activity. Several compounds strongly inhibited tubulin assembly through binding to the colchicine site.

The programmed cell death 1 (PD-1) pathway is a recently recognized mechanism of tumor immune evasion. In this study, programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1) expression was evaluated in 95 patients with systemic anaplastic large cell lymphoma: 45 ALK+ and 50 ALK-. ALK+ anaplastic large cell lymphoma was more often positive for PD-L1 than ALK- anaplastic large cell lymphoma (76% vs 42%, p = 0.

Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) and end stage renal disease (ESRD) are not well characterized in prostate cancer patients. This study aimed to examine the clinical characteristics and postsurgical outcomes of patients with or without CKD and ESRD undergoing radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer.
Methods: This population-based, retrospective study used patient data from the Nationwide Inpatient Sample, the largest all-payer US inpatient care database.

Immunosuppressive treatment regimens are complex and require ongoing self-management. Medication adherence can be difficult to achieve for several reasons. The current meta-analysis and systematic review investigated whether adherence interventions improved immunosuppressive treatment adherence in kidney transplant recipients.

To date, there is no periadventitial drug delivery method available in the clinic to prevent restenotic failure of open vascular reconstructions. Resveratrol is a promising anti-restenotic natural drug but subject to low bioavailability when systemically administered. In order to reconcile these two prominent issues, we tested effects of periadventitial delivery of resveratrol on all three major pro-restenotic pathologies including intimal hyperplasia (IH), endothelium impairment, and vessel shrinkage.

Background: We aimed to confirm the advantages of a modified hand-assisted retroperitoneoscopic living donor nephrectomy (HARPLDN) compared to the performance of standard retroperitoneoscopic living donor nephrectomy (RPLDN).
Methods: One hundred twenty-eight consecutive surgical cases were categorized into 2 groups, one receiving standard RPLDN (group 1) and one receiving modified HARPLDN (group 2). Perioperative factors of both groups were evaluated retrospectively, including donors' demographics, overall operating time, warm ischemia time (WIT), graft vessel length, blood loss, complications, pain visual analogue scale (VAS) scores, hospital stay, and matched recipients' perioperative outcomes.

Methods: The data of 1087 MODS cases obtained from ICU of 37 hospitals from March 2002 to January 2005 in 11 provinces in China were analyzed in order to derive the diagnostic criteria of MODS.
Results: This MODS diagnostic criteria involved 7 organs.
