Background And Purpose: Neoadjuvant stereotactic radiosurgery (NaSRS) is an emerging treatment option for brain metastases (BrM) planned for resection. The aim of this study was to report on the efficacy and safety of NaSRS in an individual patient data pooled analysis.
Materials And Methods: Patients undergoing single- and multi-fraction NaSRS for BrM at nine institutions in five countries (Australia, Canada, South Korea, Switzerland and USA) were included.

Trastuzumab and pertuzumab with taxane-based chemotherapy are considered the first-line standard therapy for human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 ()-positive metastatic breast cancer (mBC). Pertuzumab is also a later-line therapy for mBC in Switzerland, although limited safety and efficacy data are available. The present study assessed the therapeutic regimens, toxicities and clinical outcomes after second- or later-line pertuzumab therapy in patients with mBC who did not receive pertuzumab as a first-line therapy.

Background: Minimally invasive surgery is the standard approach in early-stage endometrial cancer according to evidence showing no compromise in oncological outcomes, but lower morbidity compared with open surgery. However, there are limited data available on the oncological safety of the use of intrauterine manipulators in endometrial cancer.
Patients And Methods: This prospective multicenter study included patients with endometrial cancer undergoing laparoscopic staging surgery with the use of an intrauterine manipulator.

Isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH)-wildtype glioblastoma is the most common primary malignant brain tumor. It is associated with a particularly poor prognosis, as reflected by an overall median survival of only 15 months in patients who undergo a supramarginal surgical reduction of the tumor mass followed by combined chemoradiotherapy. The highly malignant nature of IDH-wildtype glioblastoma is thought to be driven by glioblastoma stem-like cells (GSCs) that harbor the ability of self-renewal, survival, and adaptability to challenging environmental conditions.

Purpose: Stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) is now mainstream for patients with 1-4 brain metastases however the management of patients with 5 or more brain metastases remains controversial. Our aim was to evaluate the clinical outcomes of patients with 5 or more brain metastases and to compare with published series as a benchmarking exercise.
Methods: Patients with 5 or more brain metastases treated with a single isocentre dynamic conformal arc technique on a radiosurgery linac were identified from the institutional database.

Background: The conserved stem cell signaling network canonical Wingless (WNT) plays important roles in development and disease. Aberrant activation of this pathway has been linked to tumor progression and resistance to therapy. Industry and academia have substantially invested in developing substances, which can efficiently and specifically block the WNT signaling pathway.

Tumor heterogeneity is a well-known prognostic factor in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). A major limitation of tissue- and blood-derived tumor markers is the lack of spatial resolution to image tumor heterogeneity. Tissue markers derived from tumor biopsies usually represent only a small tumor subregion at a single timepoint and are therefore often not representative of the tumors' biology or the biological alterations during and after treatment.

Purpose: Radium Ra 223 dichloride (radium-223, Xofigo®) is the first targeted alpha therapy for patients with castration-resistant prostate cancer and symptomatic bone metastases. Radium-223 provides a new treatment option for this setting, but also necessitates a new treatment management approach. We provide straightforward and practical recommendations for European nuclear medicine centres to optimize radium-223 service provision.

We describe an insertion variant on the α1-globin gene (HBA1) identified in a 49-year-old woman of Jurassian ancestry presenting with macrocytosis and erythrocytosis. The variant resulted in a peak of 15.5% of the total hemoglobin (Hb) on high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).

Five to ten percent of all hospitalized patients are treated in intensive care units. The risk of nosocomial infections is inherent in the latter, especially in cases of intubation. In this context, impaired oral hygiene may play a pivotal role.
