A novel diphenylalaninamid (FFA) based peptide nanoparticles (PNPs) modified pencil graphite electrodes (PGEs) for construction of electrochemical cytosensor was demonstrated for the first time in this study. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images revealed the spherical nanostructure of the synthesized FFA based PNPs while attenuated total reflectance-fourier transform infrared (ATR-FTIR) spectra provided information about the structure and conformation of proteins in their structure. Self-assembly of PNPs on PGE surface and adhesion of DLD-1 cancer cells on this surface was also characterized by electrochemical measurements.

Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Cankaya University, Eskisehir Yolu 29. Km, Yukarıyurtcu Mahallesi Mimar Sinan Caddesi No. 4, 06790 Etimesgut, Turkey.

The pivotal aim of this paper was to analyze a new fractional model of chemical kinetics system related to a newly discovered Atangana-Baleanu derivative with fractional order having non-singular and non-local kernel. The numerical solution is derived by making use of the iterative scheme. The existence of the solution of chemical kinetics system of arbitrary order is examined by implementing the fixed-point theorem.

Background: In neurosurgery education, there is a paradigm shift from time-based training to criterion-based model for which competency and assessment becomes very critical. Even virtual reality simulators provide alternatives to improve education and assessment in neurosurgery programs and allow for several objective assessment measures, there are not many tools for assessing the overall performance of trainees. This study aims to develop and validate a tool for assessing the overall performance of participants in a simulation-based endoneurosurgery training environment.

The aim of this study was to prepare and characterize highly porous clinoptilolite/poly(ε-caprolactone)-poly(ethylene glycol)-poly(ε-caprolactone) composite scaffolds. Scaffolds with different clinoptilolite contents (10% and 20%) were fabricated with reproducible solvent-free powder compression/particulate leaching technique. The scaffolds had interconnective porosity in the range of 55-76%.

A novel computational approach to approximate fuzzy interpolation polynomials.

Springerplus

September 2016

Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Art and Sciences, Cankaya University, 06530 Balgat, Ankara, Turkey ; Institute of Space Sciences, Magurele-Bucharest, Romania.

This paper build a structure of fuzzy neural network, which is well sufficient to gain a fuzzy interpolation polynomial of the form [Formula: see text] where [Formula: see text] is crisp number (for [Formula: see text], which interpolates the fuzzy data [Formula: see text]. Thus, a gradient descent algorithm is constructed to train the neural network in such a way that the unknown coefficients of fuzzy polynomial are estimated by the neural network. The numeral experimentations portray that the present interpolation methodology is reliable and efficient.

This paper investigates the Korteweg-de Vries equation within the scope of the local fractional derivative formulation. The exact traveling wave solutions of non-differentiable type with the generalized functions defined on Cantor sets are analyzed. The results for the non-differentiable solutions when fractal dimension is 1 are also discussed.

August 2016

College of Water Resource and Hydropower, Sichuan University, Chengdu 610065, People's Republic of China.

A Riesz difference is defined by the use of the Riemann-Liouville differences on time scales. Then the definition is considered for discrete fractional modelling. A lattice fractional equation method is proposed among which the space variable is defined on discrete domains.

The mechanical response and biodegradation behavior of pressureless Mg-infiltrated Ti-Mg and Ti6Al4V-Mg composites were investigated by compression and simulated body fluid immersion tests, respectively. Prior porous preforms were surrounded uniformly with magnesium as a result of infiltration and the resultant composites were free of secondary phases and intermetallics. Although the composites' compressive strengths were superior compared to bone, both displayed elastic moduli similar to that of cortical bone and had higher ductility with respect to their starting porous forms.

A new generalization of Struve function called generalized Galué type Struve function (GTSF) is defined and the integral operators involving Appell's functions, or Horn's function in the kernel is applied on it. The obtained results are expressed in terms of the Fox-Wright function. As an application of newly defined generalized GTSF, we aim at presenting solutions of certain general families of fractional kinetic equations associated with the Galué type generalization of Struve function.

A compact dual-mode microstrip bandpass filter using geometrical slot is presented in this paper. The adopted geometrical slot is based on first iteration of Cantor square fractal curve. This filter has the benefits of possessing narrower and sharper frequency responses as compared to microstrip filters that use single mode resonators and traditional dual-mode square patch resonators.

Recent studies reveal that mitochondria take substantial responsibility in cellular functions that are closely related to aging diseases caused by degeneration of neurons. These studies emphasize that the membrane and crista morphology of a mitochondrion should receive attention in order to investigate the link between mitochondrial function and its physical structure. Electron microscope tomography (EMT) allows analysis of the inner structures of mitochondria by providing highly detailed visual data from large volumes.

Characterization of Ti6Al7Nb alloy foams surface treated in aqueous NaOH and CaCl2 solutions.

J Mech Behav Biomed Mater

July 2016

Middle East Technical University, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department, 06800 Ankara, Turkey. Electronic address:

Ti6Al7Nb alloy foams having 53-73% porosity were manufactured via evaporation of magnesium space holders. A bioactive 1µm thick sodium hydrogel titanate layer, NaxH2-xTiyO2y+1, formed after 5M NaOH treatment, was converted to crystalline sodium titanate, Na2TiyO2y+1, as a result of post-heat treatment. On the other hand, subsequent CaCl2 treatment of NaOH treated specimens induced calcium titanate formation.

In this paper, the fractional-order generalized Laguerre operational matrices (FGLOM) of fractional derivatives and fractional integration are derived. These operational matrices are used together with spectral tau method for solving linear fractional differential equations (FDEs) of order ν (0 < ν < 1) on the half line. An upper bound of the absolute errors is obtained for the approximate and exact solutions.

A comparative review of environmental concern prioritization: LEED vs other major certification systems.

J Environ Manage

May 2015

Cankaya University, Department of Interior Architecture, Balgat, 06530 Ankara, Turkey. Electronic address:

The matter of environmental concern prioritization integrated into globally used green building rating systems is a fundamental issue since it determines how the performance of a structure or development is reflected. Certain nationally-developed certification systems are used globally without being subjected to adjustments with respect to local geographical, cultural, economic and social parameters. This may lead to a situation where the results of an evaluation may not reflect the reality of the region and/or the site of construction.

Department of Basic-Sciences (Mathematics), College of Technology and Engineering, M.P. University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur 313001, India.

We apply generalized operators of fractional integration involving Appell's function F 3(·) due to Marichev-Saigo-Maeda, to the product of the generalized Bessel function of the first kind due to Baricz. The results are expressed in terms of the multivariable generalized Lauricella functions. Corresponding assertions in terms of Saigo, Erdélyi-Kober, Riemann-Liouville, and Weyl type of fractional integrals are also presented.
