Article Synopsis
  • Paclitaxel is a key treatment for ovarian cancer, but its effectiveness can be hindered by resistance mechanisms involving proteins like STUB1.
  • Researchers used various methods to analyze gene and protein levels, cell growth, and mitochondrial changes, discovering that STUB1 is reduced and PARK7 is increased in chemotherapy-resistant ovarian cancer tissues and cells.
  • The study highlights that overexpressing STUB1, or silencing PARK7, can decrease cell growth and encourage ferroptosis in resistant cells, indicating STUB1's role in regulating the HOXB3/PARK7 pathway to combat chemotherapy resistance.

Oat contains a large amount of polysaccharides and peptides, among which oat peptides have the function of reducing blood sugar levels in the body. This paper reviewed the peptides obtained from oat extraction and identification from literature and constructed the corresponding oat peptide database. Based on the DPP4 protein, a virtual screening of the peptide database was performed.

Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology/Digestive Endoscopy Medical Engineering Research Laboratory, West China Hospital, Sichuan University, No. 37 Guoxue Alley, Wuhou District, Chengdu, 610041, Sichuan, China.

Background: The effect of tumor budding (TB) on the prognosis of patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) after endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) remains unclear. We evaluated the long-term outcomes of patients with superficial ESCC after ESD and the risk factors of TB for the long-term prognosis.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective study in a Chinese hospital.

Objective: To investigate the expression and significance of Fractalkine (CX3CL1, FKN) in serum and renal tissue of myeloperoxidase and anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody associated vasculitis (MPO-AAV) rats.

Methods: Thirty Wistar-Kyoto (WKY) rats were randomly divided into: Control group, MPO-AAV group (400 µg/kg MPO mixed with Freund's complete adjuvant i.p), MPO-AAV + Anti-FKN group (400 µg/kg MPO mixed with Freund's complete adjuvant i.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a common neurodegenerative disorder characterized by misfolding of α-synuclein. Clinical manifestations include slowly developing resting tremor, muscle rigidity, bradykinesia and abnormal gait. The pathological mechanisms underlying PD are complex and yet to be fully elucidated.

Background: Despite the usefulness of white light endoscopy (WLE) and non-magnified narrow-band imaging (NBI) for screening for superficial oesophageal squamous cell carcinoma and precancerous lesions, these lesions might be missed due to their subtle features and interpretation variations among endoscopists. Our team has developed an artificial intelligence (AI) system to detect superficial oesophageal squamous cell carcinoma and precancerous lesions using WLE and non-magnified NBI. We aimed to evaluate the auxiliary diagnostic performance of the AI system in a real clinical setting.

Purpose: It is well documented that angiotensin II (Ang II) elevation promotes apoptosis of podocytes and , but the potential mechanism is still oscular. The current study is aimed at probing into the assignment of cysteine-rich protein 61 (Cyr61) in Ang II-induced podocyte apoptosis.

Methods: Podocytes were treated with Ang II (10 mol/L) for 48 hours to establish an injury model in vitro.

Background And Aims: Although narrow-band imaging (NBI) is a useful modality for detecting and delineating esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC), there is a risk of incorrectly determining the margins of some lesions even with NBI. This study aimed to develop an artificial intelligence (AI) system for detecting superficial ESCC and precancerous lesions and delineating the extent of lesions under NBI.

Methods: Nonmagnified NBI images from 4 hospitals were collected and annotated.

Artificial intelligence for diagnosing microvessels of precancerous lesions and superficial esophageal squamous cell carcinomas: a multicenter study.

Surg Endosc

November 2022

Department of Gastroenterology, West China Hospital, Sichuan University, No. 37 Guo Xue Alley, Wu Hou District, Chengdu, 610041, China.

Background: Intrapapillary capillary loop (IPCL) is an important factor for predicting invasion depth of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). The invasion depth is closely related to the selection of treatment strategy. However, diagnosis of IPCLs is complicated and subject to interobserver variability.

Background: This study aimed to develop an artificial intelligence (AI)-based system for measuring fold examination quality (FEQ) of colonoscopic withdrawal technique. We also examined the relationship between the system's evaluation of FEQ and FEQ scores from experts, and adenoma detection rate (ADR) and withdrawal time of colonoscopists, and evaluated the system's ability to improve FEQ during colonoscopy.

Methods: First, we developed an AI-based system for measuring FEQ.

Artificial Intelligence for Detecting and Delineating Margins of Early ESCC Under WLI Endoscopy.

Clin Transl Gastroenterol

January 2022

Department of Gastroenterology, West China Hospital, Sichuan University, Chengdu, Sichuan, China.

Introduction: Conventional white light imaging (WLI) endoscopy is the most common screening technique used for detecting early esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). Nevertheless, it is difficult to detect and delineate margins of early ESCC using WLI endoscopy. This study aimed to develop an artificial intelligence (AI) model to detect and delineate margins of early ESCC under WLI endoscopy.

Background And Aim: Diagnosis of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is complicated and requires substantial expertise and experience. This study aimed to develop an artificial intelligence (AI) system for detecting superficial ESCC under multiple endoscopic imaging modalities.

Methods: Endoscopic images were retrospectively collected from West China Hospital, Sichuan University as a training dataset and an independent internal validation dataset.

In the present study, the expression of p53, mouse double minute 2 homolog (MDM2), eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E (eIF4E), and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) were investigated in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), and the correlation between their expression and clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis was analyzed. The medical records of 96 NPC patients who had undergone biopsy prior to radical radiotherapy and chemotherapy between 2005 and 2009 were reviewed, retrospectively. All patients received intensity-modulated radiotherapy with concurrent platinum-based chemotherapy.
