Objective: To determine the relationship between NDPK(A) expression and retroperitoneal lymph node metastasis (LNM) and the significance of the prognosis in epithelial ovarian carcinoma.

Methods: NDPK(A) expression of formalin-fixed parafin-beded samples, which included 74 primary, 31 intraperitoneal and 18 retroperitoneal lymph node metastatic tumors, were examined by ABC immunohistochemisty in 74 patients with primary ovarian cancer.

Results: In the 74 primary lesions, 22 samples showed positive staining of NDPK(A) (30%).

We reviewed the clinical and pathologic data of the 135 cases with occult carcinoma of the thyroid (OCT) between 1962 and 1991. 54 cases were found incidental to thyroid operation (group I), 77 cases were found primarily by cervical node metastasis (group II), 3 were found at the time of operation for other tumors of the head and neck and 1 was traced by distant metastasis. From May 1979 to December 1989, 260 infrahyoid myocutaneous flaps (IHMCFs) were used for reconstruction after resection of head and neck cancer in one stage. It has been certified that the IHMCF is a reliable versatile and convenient island myocutaneous flap, suitable for repairing the defect in the oral cavity, parotid region, oro- or hypopharynx particularly the tongue after hemi-excision of oral tongue to radical total glossectomy. The success rate of the IHMCF may be increased to 97% if the following points are noticed.
