Stem cell therapy is a novel approach for treating various severe and intractable diseases, including autoimmune disorders, organ transplants, tumors, and neurodegenerative diseases. Nevertheless, the extensive utilization of stem cells is constrained by potential tumorigenicity, challenges in precise differentiation, rejection concerns, and ethical considerations. Extracellular vesicles possess the ability to carry diverse bioactive factors from stem cells and deliver them to specific target cells or tissues.

Aims: The analgesic effect of ketamine in cancer pain remains controversial. This research investigates the role of ketamine in bone metastasis-induced cancer pain in breast cancer (BC) and its associated molecular network.
Methods: BC cell lines MDA-MB-231 and ZR-75-1 were treated with ketamine and malignant behaviors were assessed through CCK-8, colony formation, and Transwell assays.

Background: Palbociclib plus an aromatase inhibitor is approved for treatment of patients with ER+/HER2- advanced breast cancer (ABC). In the PALOMA-4 trial, adding palbociclib to letrozole prolonged median progression-free survival in Asian women with ER+/HER2- ABC. Here, we report patient-reported outcomes (PROs) from PALOMA-4.

Elevated uptake of saturated fatty acid palmitic acid (PA) is associated with tumor metastasis; however, the precise mechanisms remain partially understood, hindering the development of therapy for PA-driven tumor metastasis. The Hippo-Yes-associated protein (Hippo/YAP) pathway is implicated in cancer progression. Here it is shown that a high-palm oil diet potentiates tumor metastasis in murine xenografts in part through YAP.

Objective: This study presents a novel framework that integrates contrastive learning and knowledge distillation to improve early ovarian cancer (OC) recurrence prediction, addressing the challenges posed by limited labeled data and tumor heterogeneity.
Methods: The research utilized CT imaging data from 585 OC patients, including 142 cases with complete follow-up information and 125 cases with unknown recurrence status. To pre-train the teacher network, 318 unlabeled images were sourced from public datasets (TCGA-OV and PLAGH-202-OC).

Cancer continues to be a leading factor in mortality and tackling it has been made difficult by the development of immune escape. Furthermore, alternative treatments like surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation have been unsuccessful in eradicating cancer. Despite being effective, they have not succeeded in providing a full cancer treatment and exhibit several negative effects.

This study aims to investigate the role of neuronal SIRPα and microglial synaptic remodeling in sevoflurane-induced cognitive dysfunction in newborn mice. Newborn mice were exposed to sevoflurane, followed by behavioral assessments and single-cell transcriptome sequencing of cortical cells. Lentivirus-mediated overexpression of neuronal SIRPα and assessment of the microglial morphology and synaptic function were conducted.

Neoadjuvant chemotherapy assessment is imperative for prognostication and clinical management of locally advanced gastric cancer. We propose an incremental supervised contrastive learning model (iSCLM), an interpretable artificial intelligence framework integrating pretreatment CT scans and H&E-stained biopsy images, for improved decision-making regarding neoadjuvant chemotherapy. We have constructed and tested iSCLM using retrospective data from 2,387 patients across 10 medical centers and evaluated its discriminative ability in a prospective cohort (132 patients; ChiCTR2300068917).

Both bulk RNA-sequencing and GEO database upon chemotherapy to non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells reveal that ZNF131 (Zinc Finger Protein 131) maybe a crucial transcriptional factor involved. However, it is a recently discovered protein with largely unexplored expression patterns and biological functions. Bioinformatics analyses and immunohistochemistry staining were assessed to detect both mRNA and protein levels of ZNF131 in NSCLC specimens and cell lines.

Gastric cancer (GC) is the most common malignant tumor of the digestive tract. However, the molecular pathogenesis is not well understood. Through bioinformatic analysis and analyzing clinical tissue samples, we found that E2F1 and E2F7 as well as their potential downstream target MYBL2 were all upregulated in GC tissues and that their expressions correlated with patient prognosis.

Background: Early and accurate identification of the metastatic tumor types of brain metastasis (BM) is essential for appropriate treatment and management.
Methods: A total of 450 patients were enrolled from two centers as a primary cohort who carry 764 BMs originated from non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC, patient = 173, lesion = 187), small cell lung cancer (SCLC, patient = 84, lesion = 196), breast cancer (BC, patient = 119, lesion = 200), and gastrointestinal cancer (GIC, patient = 74, lesion = 181). A third center enrolled 28 patients who carry 67 BMs (NSCLC = 24, SCLC = 22, BC = 10, and GIC = 11) to form an external test cohort.

Cytokine release syndrome (CRS) is an uncommon but deadly side effect of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs). ICIs are presently an increasingly important therapy option for malignant tumors, but there are limited treatments available for CRS. We present a case of a 72-year-old man who received one cycle of ICI coupled with cisplatin and albumin-binding paclitaxel therapy for a locally advanced right lung adenocarcinoma.

Doxorubicin (DOX), an anthracycline chemotherapeutic agent, is extensively utilized in the clinical management of both solid and hematological malignancies. Nevertheless, the clinical application of this treatment is significantly limited by adverse reactions and toxicity that may arise during or after administration. Its cytotoxic effects are multifaceted, with cardiotoxicity being the most prevalent side effect.

Background: Colon cancer (CC) is one of the most common malignant tumors in the gastrointestinal system. Overall, CC had the third highest incidence but the second highest mortality rate globally in 2020. Nowadays, CC is mainly treated with capecitabine chemotherapy regimen, supplemented by radiotherapy, immunotherapy and targeted therapy, but there are still limitations, so Chinese medicine plays an important role.

Oxysterols are compounds generated through oxidative reactions involving cholesterol and other steroid molecules. They play a crucial role in the tumor immune microenvironment by interacting with molecules such as the cell membrane receptor EBI2 and nuclear receptors like LXR and PXR. This interaction regulates immune cell signaling pathways, affecting proliferation, apoptosis, migration, and invasion in tumor-related processes.

Primary cutaneous myoepithelial carcinoma is an extremely rare tumor, and to the best of our knowledge, it has never been reported to occur in the axilla. Furthermore, the pathological and clinical factors of cutaneous myoepithelial carcinoma are poorly understood and may considerably affect prognosis and treatment. Here, we report a case of a 44-year-old male patient who was diagnosed with primary cutaneous myoepithelial carcinoma in the axilla accompanied by extensive lymph node metastasis.
