In this study, we evaluated the association between the PPAT volume and the prognosis of PCa patients after LRP. We retrospectively analysed data of 189 PCa patients who underwent LRP in Beijing Chaoyang Hospital. Volumes of PPAT and prostate were measured by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and normalized PPAT volume was computed (PPAT volume divided by prostate volume).

Endometriosis is a common gynecological disorder defined by the presence of endometrial tissue outside the uterus. This is commonly associated with chronic pelvic pain, infertility, and dysmenorrhea, which occurs in approximately 10% of women of reproductive age. Although the exact mechanism remains uncertain, it has been widely accepted to be an estrogen-dependent and inflammatory disease.

Background: Patients who previously underwent surgical resection of initial primary lung cancer are at a high risk of developing multiple primary lung cancers (MPLCs). The purpose of this study was to compare the efficacy and safety between stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) and surgery for MPLCs patients after prior radical resection for the first lung cancers.
Methods: In this multicenter retrospective study, eligible MPLC patients with tumor diameter of 5.

Background: The differential diagnosis of mucoepidermoid carcinoma (MEC) from neoplasm undergoing mucinous features brings more pitfalls to pathologists. Combining specific gene rearrangement and histological characteristics may be the solution.
Methods: Twenty-five tumors with mucinous components were selected for differential diagnosis of MEC.

Background: Afatinib is a potent, irreversible second-generation epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) tyrosine kinase inhibitor which has demonstrated efficacy in advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients harboring either common or uncommon EGFR mutations. However, data on its activity against brain metastases are limited. This study aimed to retrospectively evaluate the efficacy and safety of afatinib as first-line treatment for EGFR-mutant NSCLC patients with brain metastases.

The recent pandemic of variants of concern (VOC) of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) highlights the need for innovative anti-SARS-CoV-2 approaches in addition to vaccines and antiviral therapeutics. Here, we demonstrate that a CRISPR-Cas13-based strategy against SARS-CoV-2 can effectively degrade viral RNA. First, we conducted a cytological infection experiment, screened CRISPR-associated RNAs (crRNAs) targeting conserved regions of viruses, and used an in vitro system to validate functional crRNAs.

Purpose: Novice nurses find it challenging to cope with patient dying and death, especially in a death taboo cultural context, such as mainland China. By taking the example of Chinese novice oncology nurses, this study aimed to explore the contribution of their perceived death competence in determining their professional quality of life.
Method: A multicentre, cross-sectional study was conducted in six tertiary cancer hospitals in mainland China involving 506 novice oncology nurses.

Objective: To assess the potential impact of the trigeminocardiac reflex (TCR) on postoperative adverse cardiac events and to identify predictors of the TCR in cerebellopontine angle surgery.
Methods: Patients undergoing elective cerebellopontine angle surgery from October 1, 2015, to September 30, 2020, were recruited consecutively for this retrospective case-control study. The TCR was evaluated by reviewing electronic anesthesia records and defined as a drop in heart rate was >20%.

Introduction: To evaluate the predictive value of F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography-computed tomography (F-FDG PET-CT) imaging parameters for the response to neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) in locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC).
Methods: From January 2016 to March 2020, 52 LARC patients who underwent F-FDG PET-CT scans within 1 week before and 8-9 weeks after nCRT, were enrolled in this study according to a pre-designed screening criteria. After total mesorectal excision (TME) surgery, we assessed tumor response to treatment and analyzed the correlation between imaging parameters obtained from two PET-CT scans and tumor regression status.

The rapid promotion of single-cell omics in various fields has begun to help solve many problems encountered in research, including precision medicine, prenatal diagnosis, and embryo development. Meanwhile, single-cell techniques are also constantly updated with increasing demand. For some specific target cells, the workflow from droplet screening to single-cell sequencing is a preferred option and should reduce the impact of operation steps, such as demulsification and cell recovery.

Background: The surrogacy of progression-free survival (PFS) for overall survival (OS) in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) remains unelucidated. This study aimed to determine the validity of PFS as a surrogate endpoint for OS in ESCC patients treated with definitive radiotherapy or definitive chemoradiotherapy (dRT/dCRT), as well as characterize the prognostic factors and survival of such patients.

Sarcoidosis is a granulomatous disease of unknown etiology, immunologically characterized by a Th1 immune response. Transcriptome-wide expression studies in various types of sarcoid tissues contributed to better understanding of disease mechanisms. We performed a systematic database search on Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) and utilized transcriptomic data from blood and sarcoidosis-affected tissues in a meta-analysis to identify a cross-tissue, cross-platform signature.

Pancreatic cancer (PC) is a highly malignant tumor in the digestive system. The transformation of tissue from normal to pancreatic intraepithelial neoplasm is driven by certain oncogenes, among which the mutation rate of the KRAS gene is as high as 90%. Currently, PC has limited treatment options, low therapeutic effects, and poor prognosis.

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are a class of single-stranded closed RNAs that are produced by the back splicing of precursor mRNAs. The formation of circRNAs mainly involves intron-pairing-driven circularization, RNA-binding protein (RBP)-driven circularization, and lariat-driven circularization. The vast majority of circRNAs are found in the cytoplasm, and some intron-containing circRNAs are localized in the nucleus.
