Background: Capsule-preserving hydrodilatation is a common treatment for adhesive capsulitis (AC), and ultrasound (US) has recently become the most popular adjuvant tool for image-guided glenohumeral joint injection. However, traditional US is hardly adequate to assess extracapsular fluid leakage, which may decide the treatment outcomes. In this study, we explored the value of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) guided capsule-preserving hydrodilatation with steroids and ultrasonic contrast agents for treatment of AC.

Video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) segmentectomy is an optimal treatment for malignant pulmonary ground glass nodules (GGNs). However, this surgery is complicated when tumors are located between more than two adjacent segments, although combined subsegmentectomy ensures sufficient margin under uniportal approach. Lobectomy might be inevitable, especially when resecting deep nodules in the central left upper lung lobe.

The response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) is highly correlated with survival in breast cancer (BC) patients. The early prediction of the response to NAC could facilitate treatment adjustments on a patient-by-patient basis, which would improve patient outcomes and survival. Conventional techniques used for detecting circulating microRNAs (miRNAs), which act as biomarkers for the early prediction of NAC efficacy in BC patients, are associated with limitations such as low sensitivity and specificity.

Stem cells have been used to promote the repair of rotator cuff injury, but their fate after transplantation is not clear. Therefore, contrast agents with good biocompatibility for labeling cell and a reliable technique to track cell are necessary. Here, we developed a micron-sized PLGA/IO MPs to label tendon stem cells (TSCs) and demonstrated that PLGA/IO MPs were safe and efficient for long-term tracking of TSCs by using dual-modal MR and Photoacoustic (PA) imaging both in vitro and in rat rotator cuff injury.

HECT, UBA and WWE domain-containing 1 (Huwe1), an E3 ubiquitin ligase involved in the ubiquitin-proteasome system, is widely expressed in brain tissue. Huwe1 is involved in the turnover of numerous substrates, including p53, Mcl-1, Cdc6 and N-myc, thereby playing a critical role in apoptosis and neurogenesis. However, the role of Huwe1 in brain ischemia and reperfusion injury remains unclear.

Perineural invasion (PNI) in early-stage cervical cancer, is associated with multiple high-risk factors and represents a poor outcome in the patients. For nerve-sparing radical hysterectomy (NSRH) to become a standard and widely used treatment for cervical cancer, we need to define its oncological safety, and to establish standardized surgical procedures and indications of NSRH. Here, we review the definition and mechanisms, and clinical significance of PNI in cervical cancer, and discuss the indications of NSRH.
