MicroRNAs (miRNAs), a series of small noncoding RNAs that regulate gene expression at the post-transcriptional/translational level, are pivotal in cell differentiation, biological development, occurrence, and development of diseases, especially in cancers. Early studies have shown that miRNA-335 (miR-335) is widely dysregulated in human cancers and play critical roles in tumorigenesis and tumor progression. In this review, we aim to summarize the regulation of miR-335 expression mechanisms in cancers.

The high resistant rate of Adriamycin (Adr) is associated with a poor prognosis of breast cancer in women worldwide. Since miR-222 might contribute to chemoresistance in many cancer types, in this study, we aimed to investigate its efficacy in breast cancer through PTEN/Akt/p27 pathway. Firstly, in vivo, we verified that miR-222 was upregulated in chemoresistant tissues after surgery compared with the paired preneoadjuvant samples of 21 breast cancer patients.

A disintegrin and metalloproteinase (ADAM) family members are known to process the target membrane-bound molecules through the quick induction of their protease activities under interaction with other molecules, which have diverse roles in tissue morphogenesis and pathophysiological remodeling. Among these, ADAM17 is a membrane-bound protease that sheds the extracellular domain of various receptors or its ligands from the cell membrane and subsequently activates downstream signaling transduction pathways. Importantly, breast cancer remains a mainspring of cancer-induced death in women, and numerous regulatory pathways have been implicated in the formation of breast cancer.

E2F activators (E2F1-3) codify a family of transcription factors (TFs) in higher eukaryotes. E2F activators are involved in the cell cycle regulation and synthesis of DNA in mammalian cells, and their overexpression has been detected in many human cancers. However, their clinical significance has not been deeply researched in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and bioinformatics analysis has never been reported to explore their clinical role in NSCLC.

Purpose: Acquisition of resistance to adriamycin (ADR) during the treatment of breast cancer is still a major clinical obstacle. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a class of short noncoding RNAs which associate with cancer chemoresistance through regulating gene expression by targeting mRNAs. Our previous microarray found that miR-29a may strongly confer the ADR resistance of breast cancer cells.

Purpose: Chemo-resistance is the leading cause of failure in cancer therapy, however, much remains to be understood about the intrinsic mechanisms. In the present study, we discovered the novel miR-4443 that regulated malignancy of breast cancer both in vitro and in vivo.
Methods: We examined the expression of miR-4443 in MDA-MB-231/S and MDA-MB-231 Epirubicin-resistant cell lines with 76 breast cancer formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissues by real-time PCR.

PCBP2 (Poly(C)-binding protein 2) is a member of PCBP family, which has many functions including mRNA stabilization, translational silence and translational enhancement performed by their poly(C)-binding ability. The abnormal expression of PCBP2 was correlated with various carcinomas. However, the significance and mechanism of PCBP2 in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) progression remain unclear.

Transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) signaling pathway is a key regulator of various cancer biologies, including cancer cell migration, invasion, angiogenesis, proliferation, as well as apoptosis, and it is one of indispensable signaling pathways during cancer metastasis. TGF-β signaling pathway can regulate and be regulated by a series of molecular and signaling pathways where microRNAs (miRNAs) seem to play important roles. miRNAs are small non-coding RNAs that can regulate expressions of their target genes.

Acquisition of resistance to docetaxel (Doc) is one of the most important problems in treatment of breast cancer patients, but the underlying mechanisms are still not fully understood. In present study, Doc-resistant MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7 breast cancer cell lines (MDA-MB-231/Doc and MCF-7/Doc) were successfully established in vitro by gradually increasing Doc concentration on the basis of parental MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7 cell lines (MDA-MB-231/S and MCF-7/S). The potential miRNAs relevant to the Doc resistance were screened by miRNA microarray.

Background And Objective: We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to compare the accuracy of the interferon-gamma release assays (IGRAs) and the tuberculin skin test (TST) for the diagnosis of Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection.
Methods: We systematically searched PubMed, Embase, Cochrane library, and Web of Science databases for relevant published studies in recent decades and calculated pooled estimated sensitivities, specificities, DOR, and SROC curve of the QFT-IT, T-SPOT and TST. Random-effects models were used to assess estimates from studies with significant heterogeneity.

Propofol-paravertebral anesthesia (PPA) is a unique combination of paravertebral nerve blocks (PVBs) and propofol that regulates the cellular microenvironment during surgical period. Growing evidence points to its ability to attenuate perioperative immunosuppression of cancers. Abundant studies show that cancer patients who undergo perioperative PPA exhibit less recurrence as well as metastasis.

Background: Familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) is an autosomal dominant inherited disease mainly caused by mutations of the adenomatous polyposis coli (APC) gene with almost complete penetrance. These colorectal polyps are precancerous lesions that will inevitable develop into colorectal cancer at the median age of 40-year old if total proctocolectomy is not performed. So identification of APC germline mutations has great implications for genetic counseling and management of FAP patients.
