Chemotherapy resistance in advanced gastric cancer (GC) patients has largely limited the effectiveness of therapy, resulting in disease recurrence and poor prognosis. Gastric cancer derived mesenchymal stem cells (GCMSC) are widely believed to promote GC invasion, metastasis and immune escape via up-regulating programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1). However, the mechanism by which PD-L1 mediated by GCMSC might regulate the chemoresistance is unknown in GC.

Lactate extensively involves in gastric cancer (GC) progression, such as suppressing immune cells function and facilitating tumor angiogenesis. However, it remains unclear whether lactate promotes tumor progression by interacting with mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), one of the major stroma components in GC. Here, we investigated the influence of lactate on the phenotype and function of MSCs.

CD276 has been studied in a variety of cancers and diseases, but its regulatory mechanisms in gastric cancer is still unclear. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), one of the important members of tumor microenvironment, play an important role in the occurrence, development and metastasis of tumor, but the relationship between gastric cancer mesenchymal stem cells (GCMSCs) and CD276 in gastric cancer needs to be further explored. The differential expression of CD276 was identified via UCLAN and GEPIA databases.

The dysfunction of natural killer (NK) cells has been increasingly reported in malignancies, especially in solid tumours. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) exhibit pleiotropic functions that include mediating immune cell exhaustion which is implicated in cancer progression. However, the association of MSCs derived from gastric cancer (gastric cancer mesenchymal stem cells: GCMSCs) with the dysfunction of NK cells remains poorly understood.

Hepatic cancer is often amenable to surgery, including percutaneous ablation, trans-arterial chemoembolization. However, in metastatic cases, surgery is often not an effective option. Chemotherapy as a conventional clinical method for treatment of malignant diseases may be useful in such cases, but it is likewise not always able to slow or halt progression, therefore novel approaches for treatment of hepatic cancer are needed.

Tumor-associated stromal cells have been widely recognized for their tumor-promoting capability involving paracrine signaling. However, the underlying mechanism and the effects of the molecules in the glycolysis pathway in gastric cancer-associated mesenchymal stem cells (GCMSCs) and gastric cancer cells on tumor progression remain unclear. The expression of hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) in GCMSCs and bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMMSCs) was detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have been the focus of many studies because of their abilities to modulate immune responses, angiogenesis, and promote tumor growth and metastasis. Our previous work showed that gastric cancer MSCs (GCMSCs) promoted immune escape by secreting of IL-8, which induced programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1) expression in GC cells. Mounting evidence has revealed that PD-L1 expression is related to intrinsic tumor cell properties.

Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) have been shown to be among the most prominent cells in tumor microenvironment and play a significant role in accelerating tumor metastasis by interacting with other type of cells. Tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs), the predominant tumor-infiltrating immune cells, also play important roles in cancer progression. Here, we aimed to evaluate the effects of CAFs on infiltration of TAMs and lymphatic metastasis in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC).

The expression of PD-L1 in tumor cells is one of the main causes of tumor immune escape. However, the exact mechanism for regulating PD-L1 expression in gastric cancer (GC) cells remains unclear. Our previous studies have shown that mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) exert broad immunosuppressive potential, modulating the activity of cells either in innate or adaptive immune system to promote tumor progress.
