Purpose: The treatment planning (TP) in high-dose-rate (HDR) endobronchial brachytherapy (EB) can be based on various forms of imaging. In the case of lung cancer, one-dimensional or two-dimensional imaging is standard. The dose coverage of the target (planning target volume - PTV) and organs at risk (OAR) is unknown, because the doses are calculated on the basis of the dose points.

Objective: The aim of this study was to assess the treatment results of Y radiation synovectomy for chronic exudative synovitis of knee joints.
Methods: The retrospective data consist of 394 consecutive knee radiation synovectomies performed using 6 mCi (222 MBq) of Y. The assessment included 3-point custom pain and joint mobility scale, evaluation of joint's circumference, binary joint's temperature evaluation, patellar ballottement test, indications for puncture and its volume in applicable cases.

It is well known that Prospero homeobox 1 (PROX1) is a crucial regulator of lymphangiogenesis, that reprograms blood endothelial cells to lymphatic phenotype. However, the role of PROX1 in tumor progression, especially in angiogenesis remains controversial. Herein, we studied the role of PROX1 in angiogenesis in cell lines derived from follicular thyroid cancer (FTC: FTC-133) and squamous cell carcinoma of the thyroid gland (SCT: CGTH-W-1) upon knockdown.

1: ESGE suggests that high definition endoscopy, and dye or virtual chromoendoscopy, as well as add-on devices, can be used in average risk patients to increase the endoscopist's adenoma detection rate. However, their routine use must be balanced against costs and practical considerations.Weak recommendation, high quality evidence.

Background: Echocardiography is the first exam to establish the myocardial function in patients with takotsubo syndrome (TTS). However, ECG-Gated Myocardial Single-Photon Emission Tomography (G-SPECT) also allows to calculate left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and can be useful in early stadium of TTS.
Aim: To compare LVEF obtained from 99mTc-MIBI G-SPECT and echocardiography in patients with TTS.

Background: Assessment of measurable residual disease (MRD) is rapidly transforming the therapeutic and prognostic landscape of a wide range of hematological malignancies. Its prognostic value in acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) has been established and MRD measured at the end of induction is increasingly used to guide further therapy. Although MRD detectable immediately before allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) is known to be associated with poor outcomes, it is unclear if or to what extent this differs with different types of conditioning.

Background: Further improvement of preparative regimens before allogeneic haemopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is an unmet medical need for the growing number of older or comorbid patients with acute myeloid leukaemia or myelodysplastic syndrome. We aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of conditioning with treosulfan plus fludarabine compared with reduced-intensity busulfan plus fludarabine in this population.
Methods: We did an open-label, randomised, non-inferiority, phase 3 trial in 31 transplantation centres in France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, and Poland.

Papillary renal cell carcinoma (pRCC) is the second most common renal cell carcinoma (RCC) subtype and accounts for 10-15% of all RCCs. Despite clinical need, few pharmacogenomics studies in pRCC have been performed. Moreover, current research fails to adequately include pRCC laboratory models, such as the ACHN or Caki-2 pRCC cell lines.

The chronically inflamed mucosa in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) can additionally be infected by bacteria, which results in an acute exacerbation of the disease (AECRS). Currently, AECRS is universally treated with antibiotics following the guidelines for acute bacterial rhinosinusitis (ABRS), as our understanding of its microbiology is insufficient to establish specific treatment recommendations. Unfortunately, antibiotics frequently fail to control the symptoms of AECRS due to biofilm formation, disruption of the natural microbiota, and arising antibiotic resistance.

Background: Tobacco use is a well-established risk factor for head and neck cancer (HNC). However, less is known about the potential impact of exposure to tobacco at an early age on HNC risk.
Methods: We analyzed individual-level data on ever tobacco smokers from 27 case-control studies (17,146 HNC cases and 17,449 controls) in the International Head and Neck Cancer Epidemiology (INHANCE) consortium.

Enzymes of the cytochrome P-450 (CYP 450) which belong to the family of oxidase enzymes, are present in cells of all organisms and play a major role in the first phase of xenobiotic metabolism. There are several isoenzymes of CYP 450 that show differences in the speed of metabolism: poor-, extensive- and ultra-rapid. Nicotine undergoes biotransformation in the liver mainly by the CYP2A6 isoform of CYP 450.

Purpose Of The Study: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the potential value of gallium-68 (Ga-68)-DOTATATE positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) in predicting the risk of progression in nonbenign meningioma after definite irradiation. We retrospectively reviewed our patients with meningiomas who had the highest risk of progression: WHO histological Grade II and III tumors and with macroscopic disease as identified in Ga-68-DOTATATE PET/CT.
Materials And Methods: Thirteen patients were included in this study.

Splenic abscess is a rare but potentially fatal entity, occurring mainly in patients with underlying risk factors. Mortality of the disease depends on the time of diagnosis and treatment. Due to low sensitivity and specificity of clinical symptoms and laboratory markers, imaging plays the vital role in the diagnostic work-up.

Worldwide, drug-induced liver injury (DILI) is a major cause of hepatic failure. It is also the leading cause of withdrawal, cautionary labeling, and restricted usage of licensed drugs; therefore, European Medicines Agency (EMA) and United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warn that the existing methods of assessing DILI are insufficient and that some of the translational biomarkers of hepatotoxicity must be relooked. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) seems to be a proper tool in elucidating the effects of DILI in both preclinical and clinical studies, providing excellent visualization of the morphology of the liver parenchyma.

Background & Aims: It is difficult to quantify adverse events related to screening colonoscopy due to lack of valid and adequately powered comparison groups. We compared mortality and rate of unplanned hospitalizations among subjects who underwent screening colonoscopies within the Polish Colonoscopy Screening Program (PCSP) vs unscreened matched controls in Poland.
Methods: Persons 55-64 years old living in the area covered by the PCSP from 2012 through 2015 were assigned in a (1:1) to a group invited for screening colonoscopy (n = 338,477) or a matched group that would be invited 5 years later (controls, n = 338,557).

Unmanipulated haploidentical allogeneic stem cell transplantation (Allo-SCT) has become an attractive alternative for patients lacking HLA-matched sibling or unrelated donors. However, data of outcome in ALL is still scarce. The outcomes of 1234 adult patients with ALL in first complete remission (CR1) who underwent Allo-SCT between 2007 and 2016 were analyzed.
