Purpose: To assess the relationship between qualitative diabetic retinopathy (DR) scales with the precise numbers and surface area of DR lesions within the Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study (ETDRS) standard seven field (S7F) region on ultrawide-field (UWF) color fundus images.
Methods: In this study, we collected UWF images from adult patients with diabetes. Poor-quality images and eyes with any pathology precluding assessment of DR severity were excluded.

Amyloidosis is a rare protein misfolding disease caused by the accumulation of amyloid fibrils in various tissues and organs. There are different subtypes of amyloidosis, with light chain (AL) amyloidosis being the most common. Amyloidosis is notoriously difficult to diagnose because it is clinically heterogeneous, no single test is diagnostic for the disease, and diagnosis typically involves multiple specialists.

Older adults often experience incomplete recovery after a hip fracture. Rehabilitation programs with progressive resistance training are associated with improved functional recovery. This systematic review and meta-analysis with meta-regression a) evaluated resistance training characteristics reported in hip fracture rehabilitation programs, b) performed meta-analysis of resistance training impact on strength (primary outcome), gait and physical activity (secondary outcomes), and c) explored resistance training program characteristics associated with improved outcomes using meta-regression.

This study aimed to evaluate whether subjective assessments of unmet need may complement conventional methods of measuring socioeconomic inequity in health care utilization. This study draws on the 2003 Canadian Community Health Survey to develop a conceptual framework for understanding how unmet need arises, to empirically assess the association between utilization and the different types of unmet need (due to waiting times, barriers and personal reasons), and to investigate the effect of adjusting for unmet need on estimates of income-related inequity. The study's findings suggest that a disaggregated approach to analyzing unmet need is required, since the three different subgroups of unmet need that we identify in Canada have different associations with utilization, along with different equity implications.

RAF2 and TRAF5 are closely related members of the TRAF family of proteins. They are important signal transducers for a wide range of TNF receptor superfamily members, including TNFR1, TNFR2, CD40 and other lymphocyte costimulatory receptors, RANK/TRANCE-R, EDAR, LTbetaR, LMP-1 and IRE1. TRAF2 andTRAF5 therefore regulate diverse physiological roles, ranging from T and B cell signaling and inflammatory responses to organogenesis and cell survival.
