: Binge eating (BE) is associated with physical and psychological consequences, such as obesity and reduced quality of life. The relationship between binge eating and childhood experiences of interpersonal trauma has been explored, yet few studies focus on the processes that may explain this association. In this regard, some personality traits and maladaptive cognitive-emotional regulation may help explain this relationship, as they have been associated, respectively, with BE and childhood interpersonal trauma.

Lake cyanobacteria can overgrow and form blooms, often releasing life-threatening toxins. Harmful algal blooms (HABs) are typically caused by excess nutrients and high temperatures, but recent observations of cyanobacteria beneath the ice in boreal lakes suggest that the dynamics are more complex. This study investigates the seasonal dynamics of HABs in boreal lakes and identifies their driving factors.

Myocardial infarction (MI) is the leading cause of death and disability worldwide. It occurs when a thrombus forms after an atherosclerotic plaque bursts, obstructing blood flow to the heart. Prompt and accurate diagnosis is crucial for improving patient survival.

During the pandemic, client-facing workers were perceived to be at greater risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection. This study investigated the risk factors for SARS-CoV-2 infection among a cohort of 304 retail workers in the Quebec City metropolitan area. After providing consent, participants were interviewed to gather information on demographic, socioeconomic, behavioural, and occupational variables.

Vitamin D and iron deficiencies are prevalent among Moroccan women of reproductive age (WRA). Research suggests that Vitamin D deficiency (VDD) may impair iron bioavailability, potentially leading to iron deficiency (ID) and anemia. Objectives: This study investigates associations between vitamin D status, iron levels, and anemia risk in WRA, aged 18-49, from Meknes, Morocco.

We introduce a machine learning prediction workflow to study the impact of defects on the Raman response of 2D materials. By combining the use of machine-learned interatomic potentials, the Raman-active $\Gamma$-weighted density of states method and splitting configurations in independant patches, we are able to reach simulation sizes in the tens of thousands of atoms, with diagonalization now being the main bottleneck of the simulation. We apply the method to two systems, isotopic graphene and defective hexagonal boron nitride, and compare our predicted Raman response to experimental results, with good agreement.

Background/objectives: Research on early risk factors for disruptive behaviors (DBs: hyperactivity-impulsivity/HI, non-compliance/NC, or physical aggression/PA) has predominantly focused on individual DBs in silos (i.e., HI, NC, PA) or the broader category of externalizing, reporting mostly common risk factors among them.

A surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) biosensor with minimal invasiveness and high spatial resolution has been developed as a nanoendoscope to detect changes in protein concentrations at specific sites in biological tissues. While generally applicable to various tissues or proteins, the SERS nanoendoscope is demonstrated for the quantitative detection of S100β, an astrocytic protein whose plasmatic levels are known to vary in several neuropathologies such as Alzheimer's disease, schizophrenia, Down syndrome, Parkinson's disease and epilepsy, but for which intratissular levels have not been locally monitored, demonstrating key attributes of the SERS nanoendoscope. The SERS nanoendoscope is fabricated with densely and well-dispersed deposited gold nanoparticles modified with anti-S100β primary antibody on pulled optical fibers with a tip diameter of 700 nm, conducive to noninvasive and regiospecific detection of the S100β protein in different regions of mouse brain slices under different physiological stimuli with micrometer resolution.

Cellular target engagement technologies enable quantification of intracellular drug binding; however, simultaneous assessment of drug-associated phenotypes has proven challenging. Here, we present cellular target engagement by accumulation of mutant as a platform that can concomitantly evaluate drug-target interactions and phenotypic responses using conditionally stabilized drug biosensors. We observe that drug-responsive proteotypes are prevalent among reported mutants of known drug targets.

Despite their recognized potential for ischemic tissue repair, the clinical use of human mesenchymal stromal cells (hMSC) is limited by the poor viability of cells after injection and the variability of their paracrine function. In this study, we show how the choice of biomaterial scaffolds and the addition of cell preconditioning treatment can address these limitations and establish a proof-of-concept for cryopreservable hMSC-loaded microbeads. Injectable microbeads in chitosan, chitosan-gelatin, and alginate were produced using stirred emulsification to obtain a similar volume moment mean diameter (D[4,3]500 µm).

We show that the analytic content is neither subadditive nor semiadditive. To be precise, for compact sets in the complex plane, is the -uniform distance from the complex conjugation to the algebra of all rational functions with poles outside . Thus, given any integer , it is proven that each compactum can be decomposed as the union of two new compact sets and with for .

Purpose: Hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) is a common treatment for people diagnosed with hematological cancers. However, it can cause side effects that may affect work participation. This scoping review aims to provide an overview of the factors that influence the work participation of hematological cancer survivors who have undergone HCT.

Background: An adverse event (AE) is any undesirable medical manifestation in an individual who has received pharmacological treatment. To be considered serious (SAE), it needs to meet minimally one of the severity criteria by Health Canada. The most recent data (2006) suggested that AEs were underreported (<6%) to health authorities.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have revolutionized cancer treatment, offering significant improvements in patient survival across various malignancies. However, their use is associated with a broad spectrum of immune-related adverse events (irAEs), including those affecting the eye and its surrounding structures, collectively termed ocular irAEs (OirAEs). Although rare, OirAEs (e.

Adipose tissue regulates energy homeostasis and metabolic function, but its adaptability is impaired in obesity. In this study, we investigate the impact of acute PPARγ agonist treatment in obese mice and find significant transcriptional remodeling of cells in the stromal vascular fraction (SVF). Using single-cell RNA sequencing, we profile the SVF of inguinal and epididymal adipose tissue of obese mice following rosiglitazone treatment and find an induction of ribosomal factors in both progenitor and preadipocyte populations, while expression of ribosomal factors is reduced with obesity.

Cell elongation is a fundamental component of the bacterial cell cycle and has been studied over many decades, in part owing to its mechanisms being a target of numerous antibiotic classes. While several distinct modes of cell elongation have been described, these studies have largely relied on a handful of model bacterial species. Therefore, we have a limited view of the diversity of cell elongation approaches that are employed by bacteria, and how these vary in response to evolutionary and environmental influences.

Hydrocephalus and Dandy-Walker malformation are amongst the most common congenital brain anomalies. We identified three consanguineous families with both obstructive hydrocephalus and Dandy-Walker malformation. To understand the molecular basis of these anomalies, we conducted genome-wide sequencing in these families.

Three unsymmetric fluorophores differing in their flanking electron acceptor (-NO, -CN, -CHO) were investigated for their electrofluorochromism and electrochromism. The emission yield of the -NO substituted fluorophore in the solid state was ca. 9-fold less than its -CN and -CHO counterparts.
