We explored individual and joint associations of waist circumference and physical activity with cancer risk.
Methods: Using UK Biobank data (n=315 457), we categorised individuals according to WHO guideline thresholds for waist circumference and self-reported physical activity levels.

Proteins with Toll/interleukin-1 receptor (TIR) domains are widely distributed in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes, serving as essential components of immune signaling. Although monocots lack the major TIR-nucleotide-binding (NB)-leucine-rich repeat (LRR)-type (TNL) immune receptors, they possess a small number of TIR-only proteins, the function of which remains largely unknown. In the monocot maize (Zea mays), there are three conserved TIR-only genes in the reference genome, namely ZmTIR1 to ZmTIR3.

Data Sources: Medline, Embase, PsycINFO, CINAHL, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science were initially searched 1 March 2022, and updated on 25 October 2023.

This study focuses on the fabrication of 3D-printed chitosan/TiCT-MXene aerogels with varying MXene concentrations (1, 2, 5, and 10 wt%) using the direct ink writing (DIW) method. The inks were freeze-dried to form aerogels, and FTIR and XRD analyses confirmed interactions between chitosan and MXene molecules, leading to increased spacing between MXene nanosheets. Rheological testing showed improved shear-thinning behavior, enhancing printability.

Structural analysis of cellulose nanofibril (CNF) films remains challenging due to the stochastic assembly of fibres and presence of nanopores. This limits our ability to link the film structures to their properties, restricting their commercial use. While X-ray micro-computed tomography (μCT) is a powerful technique to map the structure of traditional and commercial paper, there has been limited success in its application for CNF films due to the poor contrast between pores and material, making the reconstructed images difficult to segment and analyse.

The inverse electron demand Diels-Alder (IEDDA) cycloaddition between tetrazines and strained dienophiles is recognized as a fast and specific reaction. The integrating tetrazines and strained dienophiles onto the backbone of polysaccharides yield appropriate water-soluble precursors for IEDDA cycloaddition. Due to the high specificity of the IEDDA reaction and its outstanding cytocompatibility, a range of cargos (live cells, peptides and pharmaceuticals) can be effectively encapsulated in polysaccharide solutions throughout the hydrogel formation.
