The reported case describes a traumatic anterior knee dislocation of a previous asymptomatic knee after a posterior cruciate-retaining primary knee arthroplasty. The described patient accidentally rolled over her knee six years after the surgical intervention. Anterior traumatic dislocation after knee arthroplasty is an uncommon event often leading to prosthetic's components revision due to its associated ligament injuries.

Neural representations for visual stimuli typically emerge with a bilateral distribution across occipitotemporal cortex (OTC)? Pediatric patients undergoing unilateral OTC resection offer an opportunity to evaluate whether representations for visual stimulus individuation can sufficiently develop in a single OTC. Here, we assessed the non-resected hemisphere of patients with pediatric resection within ( = 9) and outside ( = 12) OTC, as well as healthy controls' two hemispheres ( = 21). Using functional magnetic resonance imaging, we mapped category selectivity (CS), and representations for visual stimulus individuation (for faces, objects, and words) with repetition suppression (RS).

Several lines of evidence demonstrate that microbiota influence brain development. Using high-resolution magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), this study examined the impact of microbiota status on brain volume and revealed microbiota-related differences that were sex and brain region dependent. Cortical and hippocampal regions demonstrate increased sensitivity to microbiota status during the first 5 weeks of postnatal life, effects that were greater in male germ-free mice.

Introduction: Positive pressure breathing-air-fed protective suits are used in biosafety level 4 (BSL-4) containment laboratories as personal protective equipment to protect workers from high-consequence pathogens. However, even with the use of primary containment devices, the exterior surfaces of these suits could potentially become contaminated with those pathogens and result in their inadvertent removal from containment. To address the risk of such pathogens escaping from containment via contaminated protective suits, these suits are decontaminated in a disinfectant chemical shower situated in an anteroom prior to exiting the BSL-4 laboratory.

Deep-tissue solid cancer treatment has a poor prognosis, resulting in a very low 5-year patient survival rate. The primary challenges facing solid tumor therapies are accessibility, incomplete surgical removal of tumor tissue, the resistance of the hypoxic and heterogeneous tumor microenvironment to chemotherapy and radiation, and suffering caused by off-target toxicities. Here, sonodynamic therapy (SDT) is an evolving therapeutic approach that uses low-intensity ultrasound to target deep-tissue solid tumors.

Background: Few studies have evaluated predictive factors of isolated pituitary stalk thickening (iPST) in children.
Methods: In this retrospective study, radiology, endocrinology, and neuro-oncology databases were interrogated to identify patients with iPST between January 2000 and June 2019. A blinded, longitudinal assessment of MRIs was performed using quantitative, semi-quantitative, and qualitative metrics.

Childhood linear immunoglobulin A bullous dermatosis is a well-recognized autoimmune blistering dermatosis that can be idiopathic, drug-induced, secondary to autoimmune diseases, malignancies, infections, or gastrointestinal diseases including inflammatory bowel disease. However, it has not been previously associated with a history of organ transplantation. Here, we report two cases of childhood linear immunoglobulin A bullous dermatosis in young infants following multivisceral organ transplant, including one with a particularly recalcitrant course.

Glycogenic acanthosis (GA) is a benign, asymptomatic condition commonly found in the lower third of the esophagus. This case report presents a unique occurrence of GA on the lips of a 55-year-old male smoker, who exhibited asymptomatic white lesions on his upper and lower lips for many years. Physical examination revealed multiple white papules on the wet-dry vermilion border of the lips.

Background: Given advancements in adjuvant treatments for non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK)-targeted therapies, it is important to consider postoperative targeted therapies for other early-stage oncogene-addicted NSCLC. Exploring baseline outcomes for early-stage NSCLC with these rare mutations is crucial.
Objectives: This study aims to assess relapse-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS) in patients with resected early-stage NSCLC with rare targetable driver mutations.

Bone, cartilage, and soft tissue regeneration is a complex process involving many cellular activities across various cell types. Autografts remain the "gold standard" for the regeneration of these tissues. However, the use of autografts is associated with many disadvantages, including donor scarcity, the requirement of multiple surgeries, and the risk of infection.

Spinal cord injury (SCI) can cause significant motor, sensory, and autonomic dysfunction by disrupting neural connections. As a result, it is a global health challenge that requires innovative interventions to improve outcomes. This review assesses the wide-ranging impacts of SCI and focuses on the laparoscopic implantation of neuroprosthesis (LION) as an emerging and promising rehabilitation technique.

The processing literature provides some evidence that heritage Spanish speakers process gender like monolinguals, since gender-marking in definite articles facilitates their lexical access to nouns, albeit these effects may be reduced relative to speakers who learned the language as majority language. However, previous studies rely on slowed-down speech, which leaves open the question of how processing occurs under normal conditions. Using naturalistic speech, our study tests bilingual processing of gender in determiners, and in word-final gender vowels.

Background: There still exists controversy about whether the healthy human middle ear mucosa is sterile or if it may harbor a diverse microbiome. Considering the delicacy of the human round window membrane (RWM), different mechanisms may exist for avoiding inner ear pathogen invasion causing sensorineural deafness. We re-analyzed archival human RWMs using light and transmission electron microscopy after decalcification to determine if bacteria are present in clinically normal human middle ears.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate microstructural changes in the aging adult prostate by comparing the effects of varying diffusion times using diffusion MRI, and to provide an age-related benchmark for future prostate cancer studies.
Methods: The prostates of normal male volunteers (n = 70, 19-69 years) were scanned at 3 T with an oscillating gradient spin echo (OGSE: 6 ms), pulsed gradient spin echo (PGSE: 40 ms) and pulsed gradient stimulated echo (PGSTE: 100 ms), and anatomical T-weighted image. Volume and mean diffusivity (MD) were measured in the peripheral (PZ) and transition zones (TZ), which were assessed versus age.

Objective: This systematic search and review aimed to evaluate the available literature on discontinuation of adalimumab and other tumor necrosis factor inhibitors (TNFi) for patients with well-controlled chronic inflammatory arthritides.
Methods: We conducted a publication search on adalimumab discontinuation from 2000-2023 using PubMed, CINAHL, EMBASE, and Cochrane Library. Included studies evaluated adalimumab discontinuation approaches, tapering schemes, and outcomes including successful discontinuation and recapture after flare, in patients with well-controlled disease.
