Peptic ulcer perforations are common in surgical emergencies, whereas double perforations are rare, and triple peptic perforations are even exceedingly rare, with only a few cases documented. While undetected perforation during surgery can be fatal, the absence of standardized procedures for managing multiple perforations remains an ongoing challenge for surgeons. Herein, we describe a rare case of simultaneous triple peptic perforations in an elderly man with a prolonged history of analgesic and corticosteroid use.

Background: Aging population is a significant issue in Viet Nam and across the globe. Elderly individuals are at higher risk of chronic kidney disease (CKD), especially those with diabetes. Several studies found that the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) determined using creatinine-based equations was not as accurate as that determined using cystatin C-based equations.

This study analyzed the nutritional composition, bioactive compounds, antioxidant activities and estimated potential renal acid load (PRAL) score of orange-fleshed sweet potato (OFSP) grown in Vietnam. In addition, important functional groups of carotenoid compounds in OFSP were identified by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR); carotenoid pigments were detected and quantified by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The results showed that, OFSP had outstanding physicochemical characteristics, containing many nutrients, bioactive substances, minerals and fiber.

Lignin is a biopolymer employed for various biomedical applications. Nevertheless, the drug loading and release mechanism of FeO nanoparticles with surface functionalization by lignin has yet to be described. Hence, this study functionalizes FeO nanoparticles surface with lignin (FeO/Lig) for ciprofloxacin delivery and examines its adsorption-release mechanisms.

Introduction: Effective chronic disease management (CDM) is vital for addressing chronic disease challenges. Given the importance of ensuring pharmacists' competence in CDM, interventions targeting knowledge, skills, and attitudes are essential. Therefore, a comprehensive and up-to-date study is needed to analyze these interventions' effect and potential development.

This form of malnutrition remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality under-five children, especially prevalent in low-income countries. Understanding the specific factors contributing to undernutrition among this group, particularly those associated with caregivers, is vital yet insufficiently explored.

Vertebro-vertebral arteriovenous fistula (VV-AVF) is an uncommon vascular disorder characterized by an abnormal direct connection between the extracranial vertebral artery (VA), as well as the first and second branches of subclavian arteries, and the draining veins of the paravertebral venous plexus. Endovascular occlusion or surgical ligation of the high-flow arteriovenous fistula is the main goal of treatment for VV-AVF, but there are no guidelines for the best treatment to date. Endovascular treatment is the primary treatment procedure due to its safety, effectiveness, and simplicity.

Introduction: The Longan fruit tree of the Vietnam Mekong Delta is grown in raised beds to improve water drainage during the rainy season and can live as long as 100 years.
Objective: This research explores the extent to which the soil microorganisms as well as soil physical and chemical properties of these raised beds degrade over a period of 60 years under traditional management practices.
Materials And Methods: Raised bed topsoil samples at depths of 0-20 cm were obtained from four different Longan orchards raised bed age groups: group 1) 15-25 years (L1-L5); group 2) 26-37 years (L6-L10); group 3) 38-45 years (L11-L15); and group 4) 46-60 years.

Introduction And Importance: Basal cell carcinoma is the most common non-melanoma skin cancer, tightly connected to ultraviolet exposure, and typically occurs on sun-exposed areas, including the nose. Reconstructing defects in the nasal tip following the removal of basal cell carcinoma lesions presents significant challenges, requiring a balance between completely removing the cancerous cells and achieving an optimal aesthetic result, especially since this area is central to the face.
Case Presentation: We present the case of a 62-year-old male patient with a 2 × 3 cm tumor located at the nasal tip, initially diagnosed as a benign vascular tumor based on clinical examination and imaging results.

Background We explored the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the prevalence and outcomes of takotsubo syndrome (takotsubo) using the National Inpatient Sample (NIS) to compare trends before and during the pandemic. Methods This retrospective study examined data from over 137 million admissions during 2017-2018 (pre-pandemic) and 2020-2021 (pandemic). Results Our analysis revealed a marked increase in takotsubo prevalence, from 109.

Background: This paper aims to investigate the impact of diversification on decisions regarding strategic and technological choices during the global financial crisis. Specifically, we examine how the sudden changes in the macroeconomic environment impact research and development (R&D) investment decisions in diversified firms compared to stand-alone firms during the crisis.
Methods: This study uses a panel sample of US firms from 2004 to 2009, which includes the crisis years (2007-2009).

Background: Septic arthritis is a rare but devastating complication after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR). While early treatment can prevent significant graft complications, outcomes are often inferior to those in uncomplicated ACLR. Furthermore, whether to retain or remove the graft after infection remains debatable.

The popularity of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in agriculture makes data collection more affordable, facilitating the development of solutions to improve agricultural quality. We present a dataset of rice seedlings extracted from aerial images captured by a UAV under various environmental conditions. We focus on rice seedlings cultivated by the sowing method during their early growth stages because these stages are important to the establishment and survival as well as foundation for lifelong growth.

Survivors of COVID-19 are susceptible to diminished health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and adverse psychological health, which may be exacerbated by their experiences of fear and the impact of the pandemic itself. This study aims to identify distinct fear and impact patterns related to the COVID-19 pandemic among survivors through latent profile analysis (LPA) and examine the associations of fear and impact patterns with post-traumatic stress symptoms (PTSS) and HRQoL. A total of 5,890 Vietnamese COVID-19 survivors completed the COVID-19 Impact Battery- Disability Scale (CIB-D), the Fear of COVID-19 Scale (FCoV-19 S), the Impact of Event Scale-Revised for PTSS, and the 36-Item Short Form Survey (SF-36) for HRQoL.
