This study explored the mediating role of catastrophizing, acceptance, and coping in the relationship between pain and emotional distress/disability in a FM sample. Ninety-two FM patients and 51 healthy participants controls were evaluated on pain- and psychological-related variables.

Systematic Review of the Effect of Adherence to Statin Treatment on Critical Cardiovascular Events and Mortality in Primary Prevention.

Background: There is scant research that simultaneously analyzes the joint effects of long-term unemployment, poverty and public expenditure policies on poorer self-perceived health during the financial crisis. The aim of the study is to analyze the joint relationship between long-term unemployment, social deprivation, and regional social public expenditure on one side, and self-perceived health in Spain (2007-2011) on the other.

Methods: Longitudinal data were extracted from the Survey on Living Conditions, 2007-2010 and 2008-2011 (9105 individuals and 36,420 observations), which were then used to estimate several random group effects in the constant multilevel logistic longitudinal models (level 1: year; level 2: individual; level 3: region).

Impact of DNA repair, folate and glutathione gene polymorphisms on risk of non small cell lung cancer.

Lung cancer, particularly non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) subtype, is the leading cause of cancer-related death related worldwide. Numerous gene polymorphisms in DNA repair, folate and glutathione pathways have been associated with susceptibility of NSCLC. We conducted this study to evaluate the effects of ERCC1, ERCC2, ERCC5, XRCC1, XRCC3, MTHFR, MTR, MTHFD1, SLC19A1 and GSTP1 gene polymorphisms on risk of NSCLC.

Objectives: The objective of this study is to estimate the overall prevalence of peri-implantitis (PI) and the effect of different study designs, function times, and implant surfaces on prevalence rate reported by the studies adhering to the case definition of Sanz & Chapple 2012.

ABCB1 gene polymorphisms and response to chemotherapy in breast cancer patients: A meta-analysis.

The ABCB1 gene encodes the P-glycoprotein, an efflux pump for some antineoplastic agents which acts as a resistance mechanism to chemotherapy. Three SNPs (C3435T, C1236T and G2677T/A), are the most widely studied in ABCB1. The inconsistent conclusions about the association of these polymorphisms and the response to chemotherapy in breast cancer (BC) patients prompted us to conduct a meta-analysis.

The potentially bioaccessible (soluble) fractions exhibited high chemoprotective activity in HepG2 cells against oxidative stress.

Dental Management of a Child with Incidentally Detected Hemophilia: Report of a Clinical Case.

Children with hemophilia (A or B) are at risk for bleeding episodes, which rank from mild mucosal/soft tissues bleeding to life-threatening hemorrhages. This report describes the dental/medical management provided to an 8.10-year-old patient suffering from uncontrolled bleeding after a surgical procedure to expose both permanent upper central incisors, in which hemophilia was a pure incidental finding.

Based on this model, the Sexual Inhibition and Sexual Excitation Scales assess the propensity for sexual excitation and sexual inhibition. Contribution of genetic factors to platinum-based chemotherapy sensitivity and prognosis of non-small cell lung cancer.

Although platinum-based chemotherapy remains the standard treatment for advanced NSCLC patients, clinical outcomes are poor and most patients develop high-grade toxicities. Genetic factors, such as single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) involved in platinum pharmacodynamics, metabolism and mechanism of action, may account for inter-individual differences shown in effectiveness and toxicity. Background: Meta-analysis is very useful to summarize the effect of a treatment or a risk factor for a given disease. Often studies report results based on log-transformed variables in order to achieve the principal assumptions of a linear regression model. Perception of economic crisis among Spanish nursing students: Its relation to burnout and engagement.

Background: The high levels of indebtedness and deficit of Spain's autonomous communities as a consequence of the national and European economic crisis have caused radical changes in the Spanish National Health Service. At the present time, the economic crisis is seriously affecting nurses in several European countries, and especially in Spain.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to analyse whether nursing students' perceptions of economic crisis influence their levels of burnout and engagement in relation to their studies.
