We introduce a response theory based transformation for excitonic polarizability into mobility, which allows an in-depth analysis of optical pump-THz probe conductivity experiments, and compare the results with those of a conventional oscillator model. THz spectroscopy is of high interest for investigations in high bandwidth and low noise nanoelectronics or solar energy harvesting nanomaterials. In contrast to simple scaling of estimated static polarizability, suggested in the literature, an appropriate transformation of the spectral response into mobility can be achieved in principle forward and backward due to the presence of dephasing, as we show for the exemplary system of CdSe nanoplatelets.

Tuning optoelectronic response of lateral core-alloyed crown nanoplatelets: type-II CdSe-CdSeTe.

J Phys Condens Matter

September 2021

Faculté des Sciences de Tunis, Laboratoire de Physique de la Matière Condensée, Université Tunis el Manar, Campus Universitaire 2092 Tunis, Tunisia.

We present a theoretical study showing that the exciton emission in the CdSe-CdSeTecore-alloyed crown heterostructure results from the tunable quasi-type II to pure type II behavior by adjusting the Te to Se ratio. We suggest that the direct crown exciton or interface indirect exciton or a dual emission can be tuned due to the altered conduction band offset. We also found that these different emissions are red-shifted with increasing the nanoplatelets (NPLs) monolayer (ML) thickness due to the quantum confinement effect.

Hybrid heterojunction thin films, based on poly-(3-octylthiophene) (P3OT) polymer and oleic acid (OA)-capped cadmium selenide (CdSe) nanoparticles (NPs) are prepared by a spin-coating method. The structural and morphological properties of the CdSe NPs and of the hybrid thin films are investigated. The results of the dielectric characterization show that conductivity of the hybrid thin films is dependent on frequency and CdSe NP concentration.

Background: The epidemiological pattern of hepatitis A infection has shown dynamic changes in many parts of the world due to improved socio-economic conditions and the accumulation of seronegative subjects, which leads to possible outbreaks and increased morbidity rate. In Tunisia, the epidemiological status of hepatits A virus is currently unknown. However, over the past years higher numbers of symptomatic hepatitis A virus infection in school attendants and several outbreaks were reported to the Ministry of Health, especially from regions with the lowest socio-economic levels in the country.

Coordination complexes of 4-methylimidazole with Zn and Cu in gas phase and in water: a DFT study.

J Mol Model

December 2016

Institut Charles Gerhardt, MACS, UMR 5253 CNRS-ENSCM-UM, 8 rue de l'Ecole Normale, 34296, Montpellier Cedex 5, France.

A quantum chemistry study of mononuclear metal coordination with four 4-methylimidazole ligands (4-MeIm) was investigated. The four complexes [Cu(4-MeIm)], [Cu(4-MeIm), HO], [Zn(4-MeIm)] and [Zn(4-MeIm), HO] were studied with particular attention to the Nπ or Nτ possible coordinations of the 4-MeIm ring with the metals, using different DFT methods. The results suggest that the Nτ coordination of 4-MeIm ring to Zn or Cu is more favorable whatever the level of calculation.

October 2016

Sorbonne Universités, UPMC Univ Paris 06, INSERM, Sorbonne Paris Cité, UMR_S 1138, Centre de Recherche des Cordeliers, Université Paris Descartes, F-75006, Paris, France.

In industrialized countries, a large part of the population is daily exposed to low K(+) intake, a situation correlated with the development of salt-sensitive hypertension. Among many processes, adaptation to K(+)-restriction involves the stimulation of H,K-ATPase type 2 (HKA2) in the kidney and colon and, in this study, we have investigated whether HKA2 also contributes to the determination of blood pressure (BP). By using wild-type (WT) and HKA2-null mice (HKA2 KO), we showed that after 4 days of K(+) restriction, WT remain normokalemic and normotensive (112 ± 3 mmHg) whereas HKA2 KO mice exhibit hypokalemia and hypotension (104 ± 2 mmHg).

Univ Paris-Sud, Lip(Sys)(2), LETIAM(A), IUT d'Orsay, Plateau deMoulon, 91400 Orsay, France.

Triacylglycerols (TAGs) are a large class of neutral lipids that naturally occur in both plant and animal oils and fats. Their analyses in Non-Aqueous Reversed Phase Liquid Chromatography (NARP) require a mixture of weak solvent (mostly acetonitrile) and strong solvent. In the present work, we have established eluotropic solvent strength scale of several binary mobile phases on C18 bonded silica at different temperatures (acetonitrile/methylene chloride, acetonitrile/acetone, acetonitrile/ethyl acetate, acetonitrile/propan-2-ol, and acetonitrile/butan-1-ol at 25°C, 43°C, 63°C and 85°C); it is based on the methylene selectivity and the use of homologous series.

Forty eight lactic acid bacteria strains isolated from "Gueddid", a traditionally Tunisian fermented meat, were screened for bacteriocin production. Four strains named MMZ 04, 09, 13, and 17 showed antimicrobial activity and were identified as Enterococcus faecium by molecular methods based on the 16S-23S rDNA ISR, PCR-RFLP analysis of the 16S-23S rDNA ISR and species-specific primers. The four antimicrobial compounds were heat stable (121°C for 15min), active over a wide pH range (3-9) and the antimicrobial activity was lost after treatment with trypsin, α-chymotrypsin and proteinase K but not by lysozyme and lipase.

Distribution of Y chromosome lineages in Jerba island population.

Forensic Sci Int

March 2005

Laboratoire de Génétique moléculaire, Immunologie et Biotechnologie, Faculté des Sciences de Tunis, Campus Universitaire 2092 Manar II, Tunisia.

We have analysed Y chromosome polymorphism on six STR markers (DYS19, DYS389I, DYS390, DYS391, DYS392, and DYS393) and eight classical UEP markers (SRY10831a, YAP, SRY4064, M2, 92R7, M9, SRY2627 and 12f2) in three distinct ethnical, linguistic and cultural groups of Jerba island (Berbers, Arabs and a Jerban group of Sub-Saharan origin). Fst genetic distance and principal co-ordinate analysis based on STR haplotype frequencies, showed a genetic differentiation between the three Jerban groups and a genetic relationship between Jerban Berbers and Mozabites (a well defined Berber group in Algeria). Compound use of UEP and STR markers have increased discriminatory capacity.

Six species of the genus Myxobolus (Myxozoa) from the marine environment were collected from two species of mullet (Mugil cephalus and Liza ramada) in Ichkeul Lake, Tunisia. Four of these species were described previously (Myxobolus bizerti, Myxobolus ichkeulensis, Myxobolus spinacurvatura, and Myxobolus episquamalis) and two (Myxobolus exiguus and Myxobolus muelleri) are redescribed. The small subunit ribosomal (18S rDNA) sequences of these six myxozoans were obtained and compared to traditional criteria used in the identification and taxonomy of myxozoan species (such as spore morphology, host specificity, and tissue tropism).
