Sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors are medications with anti-inflammatory effects used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Cervical cancer is the most common gynecological cancer and is characterized by elevated inflammatory status. Accordingly, this study aimed to investigate the potential association between SGLT2 inhibitor use and cervical cancer development.

With the increasing prevalence of end-stage kidney disease, the number of patients requiring hemodialysis (HD) continues to rise. While life-sustaining, HD is often associated with adverse effects such as muscle loss, physical deconditioning, fatigue, and compromised health-related quality of life (HRQoL). Recent research suggests that intradialytic exercise (IDE) and home-based exercise (HBE) may mitigate these adverse effects and improve patient outcomes.

Introduction: Diabetes, kidney disease, and cardiovascular disease have complex interactions and coexistences that significantly worsen a patient's overall health. Previous research results have shown that SGLT2i hypoglycemic drugs can not only effectively control blood sugar in diabetic patients but also protect the kidneys and heart. This study further focuses on diabetic patients with kidney disease to explore the effectiveness of using SGLT2i hypoglycemic drugs in avoiding heart-related complications or death.

Aim: This study aimed to explore whether microRNAs (miRNAs) could serve as biomarkers of perinatal asphyxia and whether they were correlated with severity of brain magnetic resonance imaging.
Methods: We prospectively enrolled 26 full-term newborns, including 10 with perinatal asphyxia and 16 healthy controls. Plasma samples were collected at 0-6 h and 7 days of age.

Autonomic nervous system (ANS) dysfunction is prevalent in end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) patients, carrying significant risks for morbidity and mortality. Heart rate variability (HRV) is a simple and non-invasive method to evaluate ANS functions and predict prognoses in specific patient populations. Since there is a lack of a clear understanding of the clinical significance of HRV in predicting prognoses in ESKD patients, an updated review on this topic is urgently warranted.

The BOOST (Booster promotion for older outpatients using SMS text reminders) program at Taipei Veterans General Hospital assessed the effectiveness of text message reminders in enhancing COVID-19 booster vaccination rates among the elderly, guided by the Health Belief Model (HBM). Targeting patients aged 65 and above, eligible yet unvaccinated for a COVID-19 booster, this cohort study sent personalized reminders a week prior to their scheduled appointments between April 18, 2022, and May 12, 2022, acting as cues to action to enhance vaccination uptake by overcoming perceived barriers and raising awareness of benefits. Over 5 weeks, the study observed a 38% increase in vaccination rate among 3,500 eligible patients, markedly surpassing the concurrent national rate increase of 4% for the same demographic.

Background: The popularity of video laryngoscope (VL) has increased rapidly since its introduction in the late 1990s. However, a comprehensive overview of VLs evolution and impact is lacking, which merits further investigation.
Methods: We conducted a bibliometric analysis of the top 100 most-cited articles on VL (Top100VL) published between 2011 and 2022 and retrieved from the PubMed and Web of Science databases.

Background And Aims: This study explored the association between urinary liver-type fatty acid-binding protein to creatinine (uL-FABP-cre) ratio and postoperative clinical failure in unilateral primary aldosteronism (PA) patients undergoing adrenalectomy.
Materials And Methods: Data from the Taiwan Primary Aldosteronism Investigation Group database were analyzed, including patients with unilateral PA who had adrenalectomy between December 2015 and October 2018. Statistical methods included generalized additive modeling, logistic regression analysis, net reclassification improvement (NRI), and the C statistic.

Pancreatic squamous cell cancer (PSCC) is a rare and aggressive form of pancreatic cancer that has a poor prognosis. The 5-year survival rate for PSCC is estimated to be approximately 10%, and the median overall survival time is 6 to 12 months. Treatment options for PSCC include surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy, but the outcomes are usually not very favorable.

Stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR) may improve survival in patients with inoperable pulmonary oligometastases. However, the impact of pulmonary oligometastatic status after systemic therapy on SABR outcomes remains unclear. Hence, we investigated the outcomes of SABR in 45 patients with 77 lung tumors and the prognostic value of pulmonary oligoprogression.

Background: Acute kidney disease (AKD) defines the period after kidney damage and it is a critical period of both repair and fibrotic pathways. However, the outcomes of patients with AKD have not been well-defined.
Methods: In this meta-analysis, PubMed, Embase, Cochrane and China National Knowledge Infrastructure were searched on July 31,2022.

Although sepsis and acute kidney injury (AKI) have a bidirectional interplay, the pathophysiological mechanisms between AKI and sepsis are not clarified and worthy of a comprehensive and updated review. The primary pathophysiology of sepsis-associated AKI (SA-AKI) includes inflammatory cascade, macrovascular and microvascular dysfunction, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis. The pathophysiology of sepsis following AKI contains fluid overload, hyperinflammatory state, immunosuppression, and infection associated with kidney replacement therapy and catheter cannulation.
