Populations of forest trees exhibit large temporal fluctuations, but little is known about the synchrony of these fluctuations across space, including their sign, magnitude, causes and characteristic scales. These have important implications for metapopulation persistence and theoretical community ecology. Using data from permanent forest plots spanning local, regional and global spatial scales, we measured spatial synchrony in tree population growth rates over sub-decadal and decadal timescales and explored the relationship of synchrony to geographical distance.

The present study investigated the cytotoxic prospects of isolated compounds from against leukemia, using computational tools. Comprehensive literature searches revealed only buchaninoside, mutangin, methyl 3β-acetoxy-11α, 19α, 28-trihydroxyurs-12-en-23-oic acid, 3β, 11α, 19α-trihydroxyurs-12-en-23, 28-dioic acid, 3β-acetoxy-19α, 24, 28-trihydroxyurs-12-ene, 3-oxo-19α,28-dihydroxyurs-12-en-24-oic acid, and elabunin have been isolated from . The compounds were subjected to Density Functional Theory (DFT) and Molecular Dynamics (MD) analyses, with Fms-like tyrosine kinase (FLT3) and catalytic binding sites of Murine Leukemia Virus (MLV) as the target proteins in lukemia.

Background: The process of stakeholder engagement in the implementation of a digital health platform is vital, especially in low-resourced countries like Cameroon, where the digital health ecosystem is still emerging. Stakeholder engagement can make meaningful contributions to a project allowing for increased project visibility and reach, uptake, acceptability, and sustainability. However, collaboration among stakeholders during stakeholder engagement cannot be implied.

Background: One of the major causes of morbidity and death in children is malaria, and HIV infection and other factors may make the situation worse. This study aimed to assess the prevalence of malaria parasitemia among HIV-infected children under 15 years in the Bonassama Health District, Douala, Cameroon, and investigate its association with CD4 cell counts, viral load, and haematological parameters.
Methods: The study was a cross-sectional study involving 287 HIV-infected children <15 years and convenient sampling was used to enrol participants.

Objectives: Infection prevention and control (IPC) contributes to the reduction of healthcare associated infections. Notwithstanding the global attention with available guidelines and tools, low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) still struggle to put into place effective IPC programmes. Here, we use a socioecological approach to summarize the findings of a recent workshop on the implementation of IPC activities in Cameroon.

Introduction: Tonsillitis is a self-limiting inflammatory process of the tonsils. In high-income countries, guidelines have been developed to decide if a patient needs an antibiotic or not. These guidelines help to reduce unnecessary antibiotic prescriptions and prevent the development of antimicrobial resistance (AMR).

Background: Prognostic indices for patients with brain metastases (BM) are needed to individualize treatment and stratify clinical trials. Two frequently used tools to estimate survival in patients with BM are the recursive partitioning analysis (RPA) and the diagnosis-specific graded prognostic assessment (DS-GPA). Given recent advances in therapies and improved survival for patients with BM, this study aims to validate and analyze these 2 models in a modern cohort.

Reliability is a crucial factor to consider for multi-level inverters (MLIs) used in industrial applications. With the increasing number of power semiconductor devices, the potential for defects to significantly degrade the overall system is heightened. A highly effective fault-detection technique is required to minimize the impact of faults.

Context: Although AIDS-related deaths continue to decline, there are more people living with HIV than ever before. Sub-Saharan Africa remains disproportionately affected by the epidemic, with women aged 15-24 being over three times as likely to acquire HIV than their male counterparts. One reason for this disparity is that those engaging in 'transactional sex' do not benefit from governmental HIV prevention efforts.

Introduction: COVID-19 is an infectious and contagious disease declared as public health emergency of international concern in 2020. Given its high morbidity and mortality, one of the responses to this pandemic is vaccination, which has posed a serious problem of acceptance among the population in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) and Cameroon in particular. Thus, the purpose of this study was to contribute to a better response to the pandemic in Cameroon by measuring the effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccine.

This study aimed to analyze polymorphisms in Pfcrt, Pfmdr1, and Pfk13 genes' markers of resistance to Artemisinin-based combination therapy (ACT), in Plasmodium falciparum isolates from southern Brazzaville, 15 years after the adoption of ACT in the Republic of Congo. A total of 369 microscopy-confirmed malaria-infected individuals were enrolled from March to October 2021 in the community and in health facilities during a cross-sectional study. The K76T mutation in the Pfcrt gene, N86Y and Y184F mutations in the Pfmdr1 gene were investigated using the polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) while the codons region (1005-1300) of the Pfmdr1gene, and Pfk13 gene were sequenced.

Background And Objective: The ablative and excision treatment procedures are effective, accessible, and affordable in resource-constrained settings, but the rollout and posttreatment follow-up are not remarkable. The outcomes of treatment procedures among women treated for precancerous lesions of the cervix have not been adequately studied in Cameroon. This study assessed the outcome of ablative and excisional treatment procedures.
