Purpose Of Review: This review assesses the impact of early integration of palliative care and the disparities that exist among patients with gynecologic malignancies. It also highlights the recent advances in symptom management, goals of care communication, and end of life care.

Recent Findings: Although palliative care has been utilized earlier, there are still barriers to its integration both nationally and worldwide, manifesting as predominantly late hospice referrals and aggressive care at the end of life.

Visible Light Photolysis at Single Atom Sites in Semiconductor Perovskite Oxides.

Designing catalysts with well-defined active sites with chemical functionality responsive to visible light has significant potential for overcoming scaling relations limiting chemical reactions over heterogeneous catalyst surfaces. Visible light can be leveraged to facilitate the removal of strongly bound species from well-defined single cationic sites (Rh) under mild conditions (323 K) when they are incorporated within a photoactive perovskite oxide (Rh-doped SrTiO). Total Hip Arthroplasty Broach Failure, Incarceration, and Retrieval: A Case Report.

Case: The direct anterior total hip arthroplasty is known for a steep learning curve and femoral-sided intraoperative complications. This is a case report of a failure of femoral broach with a subsequent incarcerated femoral broach and novel extraction technique during a direct anterior total hip arthroplasty. This rare complication has only one other report in the literature.

Maintaining stability at the lumbosacral-pelvic region in adult spinal deformity surgery without sacroiliac joint fusion: are 4 pelvic screws superior to 2 pelvic screws?

Objective: The objective of this study was to compare a multiple pelvic screw fixation strategy (dual bilateral 4 pelvic screw fixation [4PvS]) with the use of single bilateral 2 pelvic screw fixation (2PvS), with the aim of addressing lumbosacral junction stability.

Methods: This analysis is a single-center, retrospective review of ASD patients treated between 2015 and 2021. All patients had a minimum 2-year follow-up and spinal fusion to the sacrum without sacroiliac fusion and met at least one radiographic and procedural criterion: pelvic incidence-lumbar lordosis ≥ 20°, T1 pelvic angle ≥ 20°, sagittal vertical axis ≥ 7.

Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder in Pediatric Liver Transplant Patients.

Introduction: Following liver transplantation (LT), adequate nutrition is essential, as malnutrition may contribute to slower growth in pediatric patients and put patients at risk of complications following transplant. Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) is an eating disorder characterized by restrictive eating patterns that compromise nutrition. Patients with ARFID may have significant difficulty meeting nutritional needs due to fear of gastrointestinal distress, making it especially difficult to manage in patients following LT.

Shared Decision-Making in Total Hip and Knee Arthroplasty: Understanding Surgeon and Patient Perspectives Regarding When It Is Time for Surgery.

Background: Although total hip and total knee arthroplasty are highly successful operations, the decision of whether and when to undergo surgery is highly subjective and discretionary, and specific guidelines regarding readiness for surgery remain elusive. The nature of these decisions underscores the importance of shared decision-making, which is founded on the concept that patients substantially contribute to determining their own readiness for surgery. The OPTION survey was developed as a conversation aid to facilitate shared decision-making in the context of total joint arthroplasty.

Investigations on the Origin of Topotactic Phase Transition of LaCoO Thin Films with In Situ XRD and Ambient Pressure Hard X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy.

With the applications of in situ X-ray diffraction (XRD), electrical - measurement, and ambient pressure hard X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (AP-HAXPES), the characteristics of the topotactic phase transition of LaCoO (LCO) thin films are examined. XRD measurements show clear evidence of structural phase transition (SPT) of the LCO thin films from the perovskite (PV) LaCoO to the brownmillerite (BM) LaCoO phases through the intermediate LaCoO phase at a temperature of 350 °C under high-vacuum conditions, ∼10 mbar. The reverse SPT from BM to PV phases is also found under ambient pressure (>100 mbar) of air near 100 °C.

Objectives: The primary aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of vasodilator administration on CT angiography (CTA) prostatic artery diameter and peak opacification in dogs with prostatic carcinoma prior to prostatic artery embolization (PAE).

We investigated BCMA-directed CART in patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM) and CNS involvement. Ten patients who received either ide-cel (n=6) or cilta-cel (n=4) were included in this analysis. Patients had brain/cranial nerve and/or spinal cord involvement/leptomeningeal disease evident on either MRI (100%) and/or CSF (40%).
