Background: Tranexamic acid has been increasingly used in facial plastic surgery to improve perioperative hemostasis. While subcutaneous tranexamic acid has been found to not significantly decrease postoperative ecchymoses following upper blepharoplasty, systemic administration has not previously been studied.
Methods: A total of 325 patients undergoing upper blepharoplasty were randomly assigned to either receive intravenous tranexamic acid or serve as a control.

Background: Combined heart-liver transplantation (CHLT) is a definitive therapy reserved for patients with concomitant heart failure and advanced liver disease. A limited number of centers perform CHLT, and even fewer use the en bloc implantation technique. Background: Armed conflicts are likely to have implications for the welfare and safety of children, potentially leading to increased rates of unintentional childhood injuries.
Methods: We examine data from Israel concerning the relationship between emergencies and childhood mortality due to unintentional injuries using the media-based database of to analyse seven events: 2008 Gaza War, 2014 Gaza War, first COVID-19 Lockdown, second COVID-19 Lockdown (September 2020), third COVID-19 Lockdown (December 2020), 2021 Israel-Palestine crisis and 2023 Israel-Gaza War. These events are categorised into Emergency Periods (EPs) and Emergency Routine Periods (periods during which an emergency extends and normalises into a stable routine; ERPs).

Background: Patients with Robin sequence (RS) are often thought to be at high-risk for airway complications after cleft palate repair, and may be routinely admitted to the intensive care unit after surgery. This study compares frequency of postoperative airway events in patients with and without RS undergoing palatoplasty, and assesses potential risk factors for needing intensive care.
Methods: A matched cohort study of patients with and without RS undergoing palatoplasty from February 2014 to February 2022 was conducted.

Scaphoid nonunion occurs in 10%-15% of scaphoid fractures, potentially resulting in scaphoid nonunion advanced collapse. Distal scaphoid excision without allograft interposition is a known treatment, but can result in loss of carpal height and pain. This report describes the application of human acellular dermal matrix as an interposition graft after distal scaphoid excision for stage I scaphoid nonunion advanced collapse.

Methods: Guided by facial lipolifting data, including patient age, fat type (microfat and nanofat), and injection depth, this study devises a systematic framework for multilayer fat rejuvenation and ligament restoration.

Purpose To develop and validate a deep learning (DL) method to detect and segment enhancing and nonenhancing cellular tumor on pre- and posttreatment MRI scans in patients with glioblastoma and to predict overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS). Materials and Methods This retrospective study included 1397 MRI scans in 1297 patients with glioblastoma, including an internal set of 243 MRI scans (January 2010 to June 2022) for model training and cross-validation and four external test cohorts. Background Attenuation coefficient (AC) and shear-wave speed (SWS) are established US markers for assessing patients with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), while shear-wave dispersion slope (DS) is not. Background CT-derived fractional flow reserve (CT-FFR) and dynamic CT myocardial perfusion imaging enhance the specificity of coronary CT angiography (CCTA) for ruling out coronary artery disease (CAD). The Ovarian-Adnexal Reporting and Data System (O-RADS) is an evidence-based clinical support system for ovarian and adnexal lesion assessment in women of average risk. The system has both US and MRI components with separate but complementary lexicons and assessment categories to assign the risk of malignancy. US is an appropriate initial imaging modality, and O-RADS US can accurately help to characterize most adnexal lesions.

Purpose To clarify the predominant causative plaque constituent for periprocedural myocardial injury (PMI) following percutaneous coronary intervention: erythrocyte-derived materials, indicated by a high plaque-to-myocardium signal intensity ratio (PMR) at coronary atherosclerosis T1-weighted characterization (CATCH) MRI, or lipids, represented by a high maximum 4-mm lipid core burden index (maxLCBI) at near-infrared spectroscopy intravascular US (NIRS-IVUS). Materials and Methods This retrospective study included consecutive patients who underwent CATCH MRI before elective NIRS-IVUS-guided percutaneous coronary intervention at two facilities.
