Objectives: The study explored the association between maternal transport modes and childhood mortalities in Nigeria.
Method: Utilizing data and definitions from the 2018 Nigeria Demographic and Health Survey report, the ten-year early mortality rates of the five childhood mortalities and the percentage of live births in the 5 years before the survey, transported by eight identified means of transportation, were statistically correlated for each of Nigeria's 36 states and the federal capital territory (FCT) in the R environment at a significance level of α < 0.05.

Spinocerebellar ataxias (SCAs) are a rare autosomal dominant neurodegenerative disorder. To date, approximately 50 different subtypes of SCAs have been characterized. The prevalent types of SCAs are usually of PolyQ origin, wherein the disease pathology is a consequence of multiple glutamine residues being encoded onto the disease proteins, causing expansions.

The need for bioactive and non-toxic biomaterials is on a high demand in tissue engineering applications nowadays. Hydroxyapatite (HAp) is the chief constituent of teeth and bones in mammas. One of the major challenges with the use of HAp in engineering application is its brittleness and to overcome this, it's important to react it with a material that can enhanced it's fragility.

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is still a formidable global public health challenge, as microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites, evolve resistance to commonly used drugs, particularly antibiotics. The preservation of last-resort antimicrobials is critical for treating multi-drug-resistant infections; however, their indiscriminate use can exacerbate AMR crisis. This short communication delves into the multifaceted challenges, innovative strategies, and promising future directions to combat AMR effectively.

Familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) is a hereditary condition caused by mutations in the lipid pathway. The goal in managing FH is to reduce circulating low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and, therefore, reduce the risk of developing atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). Because FH patients were considered high risk groups due to an increased susceptible for contracting COVID-19 infection, we hypothesized whether the effects of the pandemic hindered access to cardiovascular care.

A comprehensive study of bacterial and biotoxin contaminants of ready-to-eat (RTE) foods in Nigeria is yet to be reported. Hence, this study applied 16S rRNA gene sequencing and a dilute-and-shoot LC-MS/MS method to profile bacteria and biotoxins, respectively, in 199 RTE food samples comprising (n = 30) bread (n = 30), shawarma (n = 35), (n = 35), biscuits (n = 34), and (n = 35). A total of 631 bacterial isolates, clustered into seven operational taxonomic units, namely , , , and , , and , that are reported for the first time were recovered from the foods.

Introduction: One consensus in discussions on HIV/AIDS communication in low and middle income countries (LMICs) is the need for communication models to focus on activity rather than cognitive indicators in order to achieve desired improvements in health behaviors and outcomes. Past failures of HIV/AIDS communication efforts in LMICs have been attributed to emphasis on cognitive indicators. This study analyses HIV/AIDS communication models in Nigerian newspapers.
