Late coronary complications after an arterial switch operation (ASO) may occur due to vessel kinking, compression resulting from growth of the great vessels, ostial fibro-intimal thickening after reimplantation or possibly secondary to accelerated atherosclerosis. Given that many of these patients are asymptomatic, adult ASO survivors require special attention and an individualised approach to the early detection of coronary artery disease. Most previously reported cases of coronary artery disease after an ASO have been managed surgically.

The ongoing global threat posed by coronaviruses necessitates the urgent development of effective antiviral agents. In this study, we investigated the potential of hydroxyquinoline-pyrazole candidates as antiviral agents against a range of coronaviruses, including SARS-CoV-2, MERS-CoV, and HCoV-229E. Molecular docking studies were conducted to assess the binding affinity of the synthesized compounds to key viral proteins.

is the cause of many infectious and inflammatory diseases and a lot of studies aim to discover alternative ways for infection control and treatment rather than antibiotics. This work attempts to reduce bacterial activity and growth characteristics of using nanoparticles (iron oxide nanoparticles and silver nanoparticles) and extremely low frequency electric fields (ELF-EF). Bacterial suspensions of were used to prepare the samples, which were evenly divided into groups.

Organic additives are widely used in the deposition baths of metals and alloys thanks to their special function which affects the growth and the building of the crystal. This study investigates the effect of glycerol on Ni deposition onto carbon felt (CF) and its effect on the catalytic activity towards glycerol electrooxidation. The impact of glycerol on the morphology, distribution, and particle size of the electrodeposited Ni is disclosed using a scanning electron microscope (SEM).

With the increase of the contagiousness rates of Coronavirus disease (COVID-19), new strategies are needed to halt virus spread. Blocking virus entry by capturing its spike (S) protein is one of the effective approaches that could help in eliminating or reducing transmission rate of viruses. Herein, we aim to develop a nanofiber-based filter for protective face masks, composed of polyacrylonitrile (PAN) nanofibers (NFs)-loaded with Angiotensin Converting Enzyme-2 (ACE-2) for capturing the spike protein of severe acute respiratory syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) and blocking its entry.

To develop a specific treatment against COVID-19, we investigated silymarin-chitosan nanoparticles (Sil-CNPs) as an antiviral agent against SARS-CoV-2 using and approaches. Docking of Sil and CNPs was carried out against SARS-CoV-2 spike protein using AutoDock Vina. CNPs and Sil-CNPs were prepared by the ionic gelation method and characterized by TEM, FT-IR, zeta analysis, and the membrane diffusion method to determine the drug release profile.

Postoperative pain in children is usually undertreated because of their inability to complain. While several pain assessment scales have been developed, they have shortcomings such as subjectivity and being observer-dependent. This study aimed to assess the validity of the perfusion index as an objective measure of postoperative pain in children undergoing adenotonsillectomy.

Objectives: With the development of sophisticated instruments for the isolation and elucidation of natural products structures from marine and freshwater organisms, major advances have been made in the discovery of aquatic derived therapeutics. Present investigations were carried out to evaluate cuttlefish (Sepia officinalis) ink extract (IE) and freshwater clam (Coelatura aegyptiaca) extract (CE) for their anticancer and antioxidant activities as compared to 5-flurouracil (5-Fu), in Ehrlich ascites carcinoma (EAC).
Methods: Sixty female Swiss albino mice were divided into five groups (n = 12).

Injury to a target organ can be sensed by bone marrow stem cells that migrate to the site of damage, undergo differentiation, and promote structural and functional repair. This remarkable stem cell capacity prompted an investigation of the potential of mesenchymal and hematopoietic stem cells to cure acute renal failure. On the basis of the recent demonstration that hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) can differentiate into renal cells, the current study tested the hypothesis that HSCs can contribute to the regeneration of renal tubular epithelial cells after renal injury.

In this study we investigated the association between autoantibodies production and MHC class II alleles in fifty three Egyptian children patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). A significant association was found between expression of HLA-DR4 and HLA-DR13 genes and the generation of anti-ribonucleoprotein and IgG cardiolipin antibodies respectively, in contrast to the negative association of antinuclear antibodies (ANA) with HLA-DR8 and HLA-DR14. Analysis of HLA-DR alleles and autoantibodies frequencies in relation to different clinical manifestations revealed significant association between HLA-DR13 and vasculitis, while, HLA-DR1 and HLA-DR3 were significantly associated with seizures.
