This paper presents a survey and critical analysis of the mathematical literature on modeling of dynamic populations living in a fluid medium. The present review paper is divided into two main parts: The first part deals with the multiscale derivation of deterministic and stochastic cross-diffusion systems governed by the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations. The derivation is obtained from the underlying description at the microscopic scale in kinetic theory models according to the micro-macro decomposition method.

In this study, we aimed to gain insight into the potential of catalytic reduction using copper oxide nanoparticles decorated cellulose acetate as a biosupport (CuO@CA) for the removal of specific pollutants. The prepared catalyst was submitted to a series of spectroscopy techniques for characterization purposes. The results of the catalytic tests on methylene orange (MO) and methylene blue (MB) solutions suggest that the elimination efficiency may be influenced by several factors, including the catalyst dose and the concentration of the pollutant.

The study addresses the challenge of developing sustainable and efficient catalytic systems for the synthesis of benzimidazole derivatives, which are of significant importance in the field of medicinal chemistry due to their diverse biological activities. The objective is to develop a recyclable and environmentally friendly catalyst utilizing copper(II)-loaded alginate hydrogel beads, which can facilitate the synthesis of these compounds while minimizing environmental impact. The preparation process entails crosslinking sodium alginate with copper(II) ions to form hydrogel beads, which are then washed and characterized through techniques such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Inductively coupled plasma (ICP), and Zeta potential to analyses the morphology, composition and porosity of the beads.

Article Synopsis
  • Transgenerational plasticity allows plants to rapidly adapt to environmental changes through non-genetic mechanisms, influencing their offspring's traits without altering DNA.
  • In a study on rice plants, researchers used a reciprocal transplant approach to examine how salinity tolerance in parent plants affects their progeny's ability to cope with salt stress, isolating genetic factors.
  • Results showed that offspring from salt-stressed, salt-sensitive parents performed better under salt stress than those from non-stressed parents, indicating that environmental experiences of ancestors can lead to heritable changes in offspring phenotypes, particularly in salt-sensitive strains.

Heterogenous copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition reaction (CuAAC) was performed by using the phosphorylated carbohydrate-based cellulose nanofibers loaded with copper(II) ions. The copper-containing phosphorylated cellulose nanofibers (here after noted Cu(II)-PCNFs) were prepared in two different morphologies, namely the paper and foam ones and characterized by different techniques, including Scanning Electronic Microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDX), Brauner-Emmett-Teller (BET), FT-IR spectroscopy (FTIR), Thermal Gravimetric Analysis (TGA), X-ray Photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM). Cu(II)-PCNFs showed high activity in the CuAAC reaction when applied to the ligation of various organic azides and terminal alkynes without any reducing agent, resulting in the regioselective synthesis of 1,4-disubstituted-1,2,3-triazoles in water at room temperature.
