We present a case of a woman in her 70s, with right upper quadrant pain and jaundice, who underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy 14 days, previously. The ultrasound and computer tomography scan revealed a fluid lesion in the gallbladder fossa with intrahepatic extension. At this point a wide differential diagnosis was possible.

Cost-effectiveness of lung cancer screening with volume computed tomography in Portugal.

Lung cancer is the most common cause of cancer death in Portugal. The Dutch-Belgian lung cancer screening (LCS) study (NELSON), the biggest European LCS study, showed a lung cancer mortality reduction in a high-risk population when being screened. In this study, the cost-effectiveness of LCS, based on the NELSON study protocol and outcomes, was evaluated compared with no screening in Portugal.

eHealth in pediatric respiratory allergy.

Purpose Of Review: This review explores the relevance of eHealth technologies to address unmet needs in pediatric respiratory allergies, particularly allergic rhinitis (AR) and asthma. Given the increasing burden of these conditions, there is a pressing need for effective solutions to enhance disease surveillance, diagnosis, and management.

Recent Findings: Recent literature highlights the potential of eHealth tools to transform pediatric respiratory allergy care.

Background: Consumption of ultra-processed foods [UPFs] may be associated with negative health outcomes. Limited data exist regarding the potential role of UPFs in the occurrence of allergic diseases. The underlying mechanisms underpinning any such associations are also poorly elucidated.

The ANTI-LAMBDA: A Non-statical Tonal Indicator Low-Frequency Air-Bone Gap of Ménière's Bouts and Disease Activity.

Introduction:  There have been reports of patients with Ménière´s disease (MD) showing unexplained audiometric air-bone gaps at low frequencies. Little is known about the clinical significance of this finding. [Recommendations for Reducing the Environmental Impact of Inhalers in Portugal: Consensus Document].

This consensus document addresses the reduction of the environmental impact of inhalers in Portugal. It was prepared by the Portuguese Council for Health and the Environment and the societies representing the specialties that account for these drugs' largest volume of prescriptions, namely the Portuguese Society of Pulmonology, the Portuguese Society of Allergology and Clinical Immunology, the Portuguese Society of Pediatrics, the Portuguese Society of Internal Medicine, the Portuguese Association of General and Family Medicine and also a patient association, the Respira Association. The document acknowledges the significant impact of pressurized metered-dose inhalers on greenhouse gas emissions and highlights the need to transition to more sustainable alternatives.

Elevated Cystatin C Predicts Higher Mortality in Chronic Heart Failure Independently of Renal Function.

Introduction: Cystatin C (CysC) is a known prognostic marker in cardiovascular diseases and its role in acute heart failure (HF) has been documented.

Methods: We prospectively recruited HF patients followed in a HF clinic. Inclusion criteria: HF diagnosed ≥6 months, optimized evidence-based therapy, and ejection fraction <40% (Heart Failure with reduced ejection fraction).

Real-life Data on First- and Second-Line Treatment of Metastatic Castration-Resistant Prostate Cancer With Abiraterone, Enzalutamide and Cabazitaxel - A multicentric Study From Portugal.

Introduction And Objectives: New drugs for metastatic castrate resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) were approved, first in the pos-docetaxel and then in the pre-docetaxel setting. We aim to assess the real daily practice benefit of abiraterone (Abi), enzalutamide (Enz) and cabazitaxel (Cab) in patients with mCRPC, compare it with RCT results and compare Abi vs Enz.

Materials And Methods: We retrospectively collected the data of all consecutive mCRPC patients treated with Abi, Enz or Cab in the six major oncological hospitals in the north of Portugal until December 2020.

Impact of Allergic Rhinitis Control on Work Productivity and Costs: A Real-World Data MASK-air Study.

Background: Allergic rhinitis (AR) has a substantial socioeconomic impact associated with impaired work productivity.

Objective: To study the impact of AR on work productivity and estimate the corresponding indirect costs for 40 countries.

Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study using direct patient data from the MASK-air app on users with self-reported AR.

Career Length After Surgically Treated ACL Plus Collateral Ligament Injury in Elite Athletes.

Background: Limited data are available regarding career length and competition level after combined anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and medial- or lateral-sided surgeries in elite athletes.

Purpose: To evaluate career length after surgical treatment of combined ACL plus medial collateral ligament (MCL) and ACL plus posterolateral corner (PLC) injuries in elite athletes and, in a subgroup analysis of male professional soccer players, to compare career length and competition level after combined ACL+MCL or ACL+PLC surgeries with a cohort who underwent isolated ACL reconstruction (ACLR).

Accessory liver lobe: an uncommon abdominal mass mimicker.

Heterotopic hepatic tissue is a rare development anomaly, exhibiting diverse forms and locations. We present a case report of an asymptomatic woman in her 40s who had an 8 cm mass in the left hypochondrium detected on routine ultrasound, which was initially suspected to be a tumour. Further investigation revealed that the mass had a similar enhancement to the liver on gadoxetate disodium-enhanced MRI and presented a connection with the original liver via vascular pedicle, favouring the diagnosis of accessory liver lobe (ALL).

Dorsal preservation rhinoplasty techniques can be surface or foundation techniques and respect the philosophy of preserving the osteocartilaginous nasal vault. A spare roof technique (SRT) aims to preserve the upper lateral cartilages through surface techniques. In tension noses with considerable caudal septum deviations, the septal can be repositioned after a low strip of septal cartilage is removed, and the SRT-B is used to reduce the osteocartilaginous hump.

Temporary Delayed Hypersensitivity Reaction to Botulinum Toxin-A After COVID-19 Vaccination: A Case Series.

Purpose: The occurrence of a hypersensitivity reaction with the injection of botulinum toxin type A (BTX-A) in cosmetic use is a rare complication. We report the largest case series of temporary delayed hypersensitivity reaction (DHR) with BTX-A following COVID-19 vaccination and the first cases to incobotulinum toxin A (incoBTX-A).

Methods: A retrospective multicentric case series of patients who developed a DHR to BTX-A after COVID-19 vaccination.

Prospective, Randomized Controlled Pivotal Trial of Biodegradable Balloon Rectal Spacer for Prostate Radiation Therapy.

Purpose/objectives: Rectal spacers have been shown to reduce rectal side effects in patients receiving prostate radiation. However, concerns remain regarding precise and reproducible gel injection. We evaluated efficacy and safety of a novel rectoprostatic spacer balloon that allows potential for controlled, adaptable deployment.

Sotorasib (960 mg or 240 mg) once daily in patients with previously treated KRAS G12C-mutated advanced NSCLC.

Background: Sotorasib 960 mg once daily is approved to treat KRAS G12C-mutated locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Sotorasib exhibits non-dose proportional pharmacokinetics and clinical responses at lower doses; therefore, we evaluated the efficacy and safety of sotorasib 960 mg and 240 mg.

Methods: In this phase 2, randomized, open-label study, adults with KRAS G12C-mutated advanced NSCLC received sotorasib 960 mg or 240 mg once daily.
