The π-conjugation, aromaticity, and stability of the newly synthesized 12-infinitene and of other infinitenes comprising 8-, 10-, 14-, and 16-arene rings are investigated using density functional theory. The π-electron delocalization and aromatic character rooted in infinitenes are quantified in terms of molecular electrostatic potential (MESP) topology. Structurally, the infinitene bears a close resemblance of its helically twisted structure to the infinity symbol.

The structure and energetics of the interactive behavior of Li and Li with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) have been studied at the wB97XD/6-311G(d,p) level of DFT. The electron distribution in the PAHs, analyzed using the topology of the molecular electrostatic potential (MESP), led to the categorization of their aromatic rings into five types, viz , , , , and . Among the different rings, sextet-type and naphthalene-type rings showed the highest interaction with Li.

Three phenazines, 1-methoxyphenazine (1), methyl-6-methoxyphenazine-1-carboxylate (2), 1,6-dimethoxyphenazine (4), and a 2,3-dimethoxy benzamide (3) were isolated from the Streptomyces luteireticuli NIIST-D75, and the antibacterial effects of compounds 1-3, each in combination with ciprofloxacin, were investigated. The in vitro antibacterial activity was assessed by microdilution, checkerboard, and time-kill assay against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Salmonella typhi. According to the checkerboard assay results, each combination of compounds 1, 2 and 3 with ciprofloxacin resulted in a significantly lower minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of 0.

The microalgae have a great potential as the fourth generation biofuel feedstock to deal with energy crisis, but the cost of production and biomass harvest are the major hurdles in terms of large scale production and applications. Red emission from Mn-containing oxides inspired the development of high color rendering and cost-effective white-light-emitting diodes (WLEDs). Aiming at this fact, a series of new crystallographic site modified (Mg, Ba)MGeO: Mn (M = Al, Ga) compositions were developed with strong deep-red emission in the reaction to UV and blue lights. Solid-state fermentation (SSF) and submerged fermentation (SmF) have often been compared for production of biomass hydrolyzing enzymes highlighting the superiority of the SSF produced enzymes, but the reasons for the performance differences are under-explored. Penicillium janthinellum NCIM 1366 culture extracts from SSF had better hydrolytic performance along with a higher initial rate of reaction. Secretome analyses of the SSF and SmF enzymes using LC/MS-MS, indicated that while the type of proteins secreted were similar in both modes, the abundance of specific beta glucosidases, lytic polysaccharide monooxygenases and hemicellulolytic enzymes were very high in SSF resulting in efficient initiation, low accumulation of cellobiose and high initial reaction rates.

The present review narrates several reports which deal with the synthesis of fused 1,2,3-triazole containing scaffolds following a sequential multicomponent reaction (MCR)-intramolecular azide-alkyne cycloaddition (IAAC) approach. The reviewed reactions were cleverly designed so as to incorporate azide and alkyne functionalities in the MCR product which was then subjected to IAAC. The review is divided into two sections based on the number of components in the multicomponent reaction.
