Seaweeds have proven to be nutrient-dense and are rich in antioxidants, like phenolics, flavonoids, and other essential metabolites that help to provide their medicinal benefits. Non-targeted metabolite profiling of the tropical green seaweed s showed the presence of numerous groups of contents, including sugars, essential amino acids, and fatty acids. Targeted metabolite profiling using HPLC identified 17 amino acids.

Electrocatalytic nitrogen fixation to ammonia (NH), a precursor for fertilizer production and a promising energy carrier, has garnered widespread interest as an environment-friendly and sustainable alternative to the energy-intensive fossil-feedstock-dependent Haber-Bosch process. The large-scale deployment of this process is contingent on the identification of inexpensive, Earth-abundant systems that can operate efficiently, irrespective of the electrolyte pH for the selective production of NH. In this regard, we discuss the scalable synthesis of VO anchored on N-doped carbon (VO2@CN), and its applicability as a robust electrocatalyst for the nitrogen reduction reaction (NRR).

We have utilised the 4,6-di--butyl resorcinol bis(diphenylphosphinite) (POCOP) ligand for exploring its coordination ability towards group 11 metal centres. The treatment of the bidentate ligand 1 with various coinage metal precursors afforded a wide range of structurally diverse complexes 2-12, depending upon the metal precursors used. This furnishes several multinuclear Cu(I) complexes with dimeric (2) and tetrameric cores (3, 4, and 5).

Hollow porous organic capsules (HPOCs) with an entrapped active catalyst have nanosized cavities, providing the benefits of a nanoreactor, as well as separation of the catalysts from the reaction medium via pores acting as a size-exclusion gate. Such purpose-built HPOCs with desired molecular weight cutoffs offer the advantages of semipermeable membrane separation and a sustainable chemical process that excludes energy-extensive separation. Here, we report a newly synthesized HPOC with an entrapped Pd(PPh)Cl as the catalyst for demonstrating a Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reaction as a proof of concept.

An efficient approach for the synthesis of chiral pyrrolo[1,2-][1,4]thiazine-2-carbaldehydes is achieved via formal 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition/rearrangement reactions of benzothiazolium salt and α,β-unsaturated aldehydes, utilizing an asymmetric organocatalyst. This process results in the formation of fluorescent, highly enantioenriched chiral molecules with three contiguous stereogenic centers, one of which is a chiral quaternary center, with excellent yields and enantio- and diastereoselectivity. A computational study demonstrated the understanding of the reaction mechanism.

An expedient and efficient approach is used to synthesize a new class of metallo-polymeric microspheres (MPMs) as antimicrobials to succumb the wide range of bacteria from water. Three types of MPMs, that is, poly[Silver (I)-methacrylate-co-methylmethacrylate] (pAgMA), poly[Copper (II)-methacrylate-co-methyl methacrylate] (pCuMA), and poly[Nickel (II)-methacrylate-co-methylmethacrylate] (pNiMA), are prepared via radical suspension polymerization technique in 3D shape with porous texture. The structural and morphological characterization of the prepared microspheres are examined by analytical techniques.

An attempt to explore the reactivity of the nitro group in the presence of gold catalysis in comparison to the azide group yielded intriguing results. Amid mounting pressure on the long-term recyclability of chromium in tanned leather and the associated environmental hazards, the quest for an alternative, cleaner tanning system has gained tremendous momentum. In this context, our study explores the remarkable potential of silicates as a versatile platform for skin/hide tanning, circumventing the inherent risks and ecological threats posed by chromium exposure and leaching. This study investigates the impact of solvent post-treatment on polyamide-based thin film composite (TFC) membranes, specifically examining the effect on commercial nanofiltration (NF) and reverse osmosis (RO) membranes. NaSO rejection and increase in pure water permeance (PWP) were considered as the output parameters. The disparity in Hansen solubility parameters (HSP) between the post-treatment solution and the polyamide layer of the TFC membrane, denoted by Ra, is well adapted to understand the enhancement in water permeance through the membranes upon treatment.

Withania somnifera (Ashwagandha), is one of the most reputed Indian medicinal plants, having immense pharmacological activities due to the occurrence of withanolides. The withanolides are biosynthesized through triterpenoid biosynthetic pathway with the involvement of WsCAS leading to cyclization of 2, 3 oxidosqualene, which is a key metabolite to further diversify to a myriad of phytochemicals. Fluorescent carbon dots (Trp-CDs) were prepared using tryptophan as precursor and were characterized on the basis of elemental analysis, powder-XRD, IR, Raman spectroscopy, C-NMR, UV-Vis, fluorescence and TEM. Trp-CDs exhibit poor fluorescence in 100% water but showed strong Aggregation Induced Emission (AIE) in ethanol and higher alcohols. The anion sensing study of Trp-CD revealed that it selectively detects CN and CrO and from fluorescence quenching titration study, quenching constant, LOD and range of detection were evaluated.

In the current study, a novel methylene blue (MB)-based colorimetric method for a quick, inexpensive, and facile approach for the determination of fouling intensity of reverse osmosis (RO) membrane has been reported. This technique is based on the interaction of MB with the organic foulants and shows the corresponding change in the colour intensity depending on the severity of fouling. The organic foulants, such as albumin, sodium alginate, and carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), were chosen as model foulants, and the membranes were subjected to foul under extreme fouling conditions.
