Applied Biology, CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), Hyderabad, India; Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR), Ghaziabad, 201002, U.P, India. Electronic address:

Functional recovery from hypoxia-ischemia depends on an individual's response to the ischemic damage and recovery. Many of the neurological disorders, including cerebral stroke have sex-specific characteristics. Deciphering the differential molecular mechanisms of sex-specific recovery from hypoxic-ischemic insult can improve medical practice in the treatment of cerebral stroke.

Herein, the synthesis of the novel acceptor-donor-acceptor (A-D-A)-structured small molecule Si-PO-2CN based on dithienosilole (DTS) as building block flanked by electron-rich phenoxazine (POZ) units, which are terminated with dicyanovinylene, is presented. Si-PO-2CN showed unique electrochemical and photophysical properties and has been successfully employed in perovskite solar cells (PSCs) as well as in bulk heterojunction organic solar cells (OSCs). The PSCs fabricated with dopant-free Si-PO-2CN as hole-transport material (HTM) exhibited a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 14.

Depression is a debilitating psychiatric disorder with a high rate of relapse and a low rate of response to antidepressant treatment. There is a dearth of new antidepressants due to an incomplete understanding of the molecular mechanisms involved in its etiopathology. Chronic stress appears to be one of the foremost underlying causes of depression.

Dendrimers have proven to be effective for drug delivery and their biodisposition varies with change on their surface, generation and core. In an effort to understand the role of critical nanoscale design parameters, we developed a novel hybrid dendrimer approach to harness unique features of individual dendrimers and create a nano-assembly. We report an easy in situ method of creating hybrid dendrimer nano-assembly by mixing G4.

A focused library of novel mannosylated glycophospholipids was synthesized employing imidate coupling and H-phosphate phosphorylation methods. All novel glycophospholipids were evaluated for their receptor interactions by molecular docking studies. Docking studies revealed dendritic cell-specific intercellular adhesion molecule-3-grabbing non-integrin (DC-SIGN) specific interaction of the glycophospholipid ligand P4 acts, which was further confirmed by in vitro DC-SIGN expression on monocyte-derived dendritic cells (MoDCs).

We explore two small molecules containing arms of dicyano-n-hexylrhodanine and diathiafulvalene wings terminated with benzothiadiazole linker, denoted as BAF-4CN and BAF-2HDT, respectively, as small molecule non-fullerene acceptors (SMNFAs) in organic solar cells. The proposed materials are mixed with a low band gap polymer donor PTB7-Th having broad absorption in the range of 400-750 nm to form solution-processed bulk heterojunctions (BHJs). The photoluminescence (PL) measurements show that both donor and acceptor can quench each other's PL effectively, implying that not only electrons are transferred from PTB7-Th → SMNFAs but also holes are transferred from SMNFAs → PTB7-Th for efficient photocurrent generation.

Although the efficiency of Dye-sensitized and Perovskite solar cell is still below the performance level of market dominance silicon solar cells, in last few years they have grabbed significant attention because of their fabrication ease using low-cost materials, and henceforth these cells are considered as a promising alternative to commercial photovoltaic devices. However, third generation solar cells have significant absorption in the visible region of solar spectrum, which confines their power conversion efficiency. Subsequently, the performance of current photovoltaics is significantly hampered by the transmission loss of sub-band-gap photons.

Inflammatory bowel disease is an umbrella-term used to describe a set of chronic inflammatory conditions that affect the gastro-intestinal tract. Since most of the inflammatory medications in current use have several undesirable side-effects, stevioside, a naturally occurring, high-intensity sweetener was assessed in our study for its anti-inflammatory properties by in-vitro and in-vivo experiments. Stevioside was observed to significantly inhibit the levels of LPS induced elevation of cytokines, TNF-α (P < 0.

Spiro-OMeTAD is widely used as thehole-transporting material (HTM) in perovskite solar cells (PSC), which extracts positive charges and protects the perovskite materials from metal electrode, setting a new world-record efficiency of more than 20 %. Spiro-OMeTAD layer engross moisture leading to the degradation of perovskite, and therefore, has poor air stability. It is also expensive therefore limiting scale-up, so macrocyclic metal complex derivatives (MMDs) could be a suitable replacement.

Background: Cancer can be considered as a disease in which normal cells start behaving badly, multiplying uncontrollably, ignoring signals to stop and accumulating to form a mass that is generally termed as a tumor. Apoptosis or programmed cell death is a physiological process that enables organisms to control their cell numbers in many developmental and physiological settings and to eliminate unwanted cells and it plays essential role in chemotherapy-induced tumor-cell killing. The correct balance between apoptosis and inhibition of apoptosis is important in animal development as well as in tissue homeostasis.

Autophagy is a homeostatic process that recycles damaged organelles and long-lived proteins by delivering them in double-membrane vesicles to lysosomes for degradation. Autophagy has a prominent role in survival, proliferation, and resistance of tumors in metabolic and chemotherapeutic stress conditions. Clinical trials with chloroquine-a known autophagy inhibitor-were unable to achieve complete autophagy inhibition in vivo, warranting the search for more potent autophagy inhibitors.
