In recent years, electrochemiluminescence (ECL) has received enormous attention and has emerged as one of the most successful tools in the field of analytical science. Compared with homogeneous ECL, the heterogeneous (or solid-state) ECL has enhanced the rate of the electron transfer kinetics and offers rapid response time, which is highly beneficial in point-of-care and clinical applications. In ECL, the luminophore is the key element, which dictates the overall performance of the ECL-based sensors in various analytical applications.

Poly(lactic acid) (PLA) based sustainable composites incorporated with cholecalciferol (Vitamin D3) (CC) at different concentrations (1, 3, 5 and 10 wt%) were prepared using solvent casting method. Performance analysis of PLA/CC composite films in terms of food packaging properties like thermal, optical, oxygen barrier, mechanical, anti-bacterial as well as anti-oxidant effect is carried out. The PLA/CC-5 composite showed complete blockage of UV-B light at 320 nm, which is known to significantly induce the photo-chemical degradation of polymers.

The detection and comparison of the amount of superoxide anion (O) released by different complexes in mitochondrial electron transport chain (ETC) can locate the main electron leakage sites in mitochondria. In order to realize this, we designed an ultrasensitive photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensor by in situ hydrothermal growth of MnO nanosheets on CoO nanowires array modified Ti substrate (NWA|Ti). Due to the formation of a core-shell p-n heterojunction with high specific surface area, tight surface contact and plentiful oxygen vacancies (OVs), MnO@CoO NWA|Ti possesses a strong visible light absorption, high charges transfer and separation ability.

Homogeneous Gold Catalysis for Regioselective Carbocyclization of Alkynyl Precursors.

Chempluschem

July 2023

Faculty of Chemistry, University of Wrocław, 14 Fryderyka Joliot-Curie, 50-383, Wrocław, Poland.

π-Activation of alkynyl precursors possessing an endogenous carbon nucleophile is one of the imperative topics in homogeneous gold catalysis as it offers Csp -Csp and Csp -Csp linked carbocycles. However, the exo-dig and endo-dig cyclization modes unlocks the possibility of both small and large rings respectively, thereby losing regioselectivity. Nevertheless, several gold-catalyzed carbocyclizations which permits one isomer by controlling or avoiding the formation of other went largely unnoticed.

Development of the multifaceted metal-organic framework (MOF) with in situ engineered task-specific sites can promise proficient oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and high-temperature adsorption cum mild-condition fixation of CO. In fact, effective assimilation of these attributes onto a single material with advance performance characteristics is practically imperative in view of renewable energy application and carbon-footprint reduction. Herein, we developed a three-fold interpenetrated robust Co(II) framework that embraces both redox-active and hydrogen-bond donor moieties inside the microporous channel.

The enhancement in the performance of metallic bone implants based on commercially pure titanium (CP-Ti) by incorporation of cerium (Ce) ions onto the surface was evaluated. The incorporation of Ce ions onto the CP-Ti surface was carried out by a simple two-step chemical treatment method, where an initial NaOH treatment and then a subsequent treatment with different molar concentrations of ceric nitrate solution followed by heat treatment at 600 °C were carried out. The modified surfaces were observed using field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive X-ray analysis (SEM-EDX), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), the laser Raman spectroscopic technique, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), and atomic force microscopy (AFM).

NU-1000, being a hydrothermally stable metal-organic framework (MOF), with structural robustness is viable for functionalization with various entities. A postsynthetic modification strategy called solvent-assisted ligand incorporation (SALI) is chosen for functionalizing NU-1000 with thiol moieties using 2-mercaptobenzoic acid. In accordance with soft acid-soft base interactions, the thiol groups on NU-1000, as a scaffold, can immobilize the gold nanoparticles without much aggregation.

Developing cost-efficient and noble metal free electrocatalysts is vastly anticipated for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Therefore, in this study, to lift the thermodynamic and kinetic activity of the OER, we attempted to synthesize a bimetallic nickel and manganese-based zeolite imidazolate framework system in a fiber form. For this synthesis, a bottom-up approach has been followed through wet chemical analysis, and electrospinning was utilized for fiber formation.

Transient potential oscillations in a self-organized system involve a sequence of mass-transfer-limited chemical reactions. Often, these oscillations determine the microstructure of the electrodeposited metallic films. In this study, two distinct potential oscillations have been observed during galvanostatic deposition of cobalt in the presence of butynediol.

Generally, graphynes have been generated by the insertion of acetylenic content (-C≡C-) in the graphene network in different ratios. Also, several aesthetically pleasing architectures of two-dimensional (2D) flatlands have been reported with the incorporation of acetylenic linkers between the heteroatomic constituents. Prompted by the experimental realization of boron phosphide, which has provided new insights on the boron-pnictogen family, we have modelled novel forms of acetylene-mediated borophosphene nanosheets by joining the orthorhombic borophosphene stripes with different widths and with different atomic constituents using acetylenic linkers.

The energy storage performances of supercapacitors are expected to be enhanced by the use of nanostructured hierarchically micro/mesoporous hollow carbon materials based on their ultra-high specific surface areas and rapid diffusion of electrolyte ions through the interconnected channels of their mesoporous structures. In this work, we report the electrochemical supercapacitance properties of hollow carbon spheres prepared by high-temperature carbonization of self-assembled fullerene-ethylenediamine hollow spheres (FE-HS). Metal-free, cost-efficient, redox-active electrode materials, combining graphene derivatives with nitrogen-rich polymelamine (PM), are widely explored as an interface layer for electrocatalysis and an electrochemical sensor platform. However, conventional chemical routes often yield derivatives of PM suffering from impaired redox behavior, restricting their electron-transfer kinetics. Herein, an optimal potentiodynamic method has been established to electrodeposit PM on electrochemically reduced graphene oxide (ErGO).

Porous organic polymers are porous materials that are interlinked with organic building blocks by strong covalent bonds. The functional groups on the building blocks can be carefully chosen to obtain a POP with desired functionalities. In certain cases, the pores or voids interact with the organic molecules via non-covalent interactions and hence they serve as catalytic centers.

Sensing acetylcholine has been predominantly based on enzymatic strategies using acetylcholine esterase and choline oxidase because of its electrochemical inertness. Electrified liquid-liquid interfaces are not limited to oxidation/reduction processes, and can be utilized to detect non-redox molecules which cannot be detected using conventional solid electrodes. In this study, a disposable micropipette tip based liquid-organogel interface, in the presence/absence of calixarene has been developed as a platform for sensing acetylcholine.
