A library of 57 compounds of natural andrographolide was designed, synthesized, and screened for studies against four human cancer cell lines: A594, PC-3, MCF-7, and HCT-116. Most of the synthesized compounds displayed better cytotoxic profile against all tested cells compared to the parent andrographolide (). The tested semisynthetic derivatives of andrographolide were found to be more sensitive toward lung carcinoma (A594) and prostate carcinoma (PC-3) cell lines.

Chronic exposure to Ultraviolet B radiation (UV-B) evokes a myriad of toxic signalling events in the irradiated skin. One of such response is ER stress, which is known to exacerbate photodamage responses. Also, recent literature has highlighted the adverse impact of environmental toxicants on mitochondrial dynamics and mitophagy.

Advanced glycation end-products (AGEs) form when glucose reacts non-enzymatically with proteins, leading to abnormal protein function, oxidative stress, and inflammation. AGEs are associated with aging and age-related diseases; their formation is aggravated during diabetes. Therefore, drugs preventing AGE formation can potentially treat diabetic complications, positively affecting health.

Cellular senescence, a characteristic sign of aging, classically refers to permanent cell proliferation arrest and is a vital contributor to the pathogenesis of cancer and age-related illnesses. A lot of imperative scientific research has shown that senescent cell aggregation and the release of senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP) components can cause lung inflammatory diseases as well. In this study, the most recent scientific progress on cellular senescence and phenotypes was reviewed, including their impact on lung inflammation and the contributions of these findings to understanding the underlying mechanisms and clinical relevance of cell and developmental biology.

The benign nature of aza-Michael addition reaction in aqueous solutions is demonstrated herein to conduct a direct glycoconjugation of amine-terminated poly(ether imine) (PETIM) dendrimers. Zero to three generations of dendrimers, possessing up to 16 amine functionalities at their peripheries, undergo aza-Michael reaction with unsaturated sugar vinyl sulfoxide in aq. MeOH solutions and afford the corresponding dendrimers modified with multiple glycosyl moieties at the periphery.

Although the belief that hypnotizability is a mental dysfunction has been refuted over time, there is still research today that seeks to explore and clarify this preconception. The results of recent research indicate that, on the contrary, greater psychopathology is more frequent in subjects with low hypnotic susceptibility. Using the Stanford Hypnotic Susceptibility Scale type A (SHSS-A) for hypnotizability, Symptom Checklist-Revised (SCL-90-R) for psychopathology, and the Somatosensory Amplification Scale (SSAS) and Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20) for psychosomatic dimensions, we found no relationship between baseline psychopathology, alexithymia and hypnotizability in 69 subjects with chronic pain in this retrospective observational study.

In present era, heterocyclic compounds containing two or three nitrogen atoms play a vital role in drug discovery. In this context, a new class of isatin-semicarbazone tethered 1,2,3-triazole hybrids was synthesized via Cu(I)-mediated azide alkyne cycloaddition reaction. Structural characteristics of the newly derived compounds were identified by various spectral techniques like FTIR, H NMR, C NMR, HRMS and single crystal X-ray crystallography.

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a common chronic, multisystem inflammatory skin disease in pediatric patients. There has been an increase in the incidence of AD in the pediatric population of the Asia-Pacific region. Studies have shown that genetic, epigenetic, environmental and cultural factors may lead to differences in the clinical manifestation and prevalence of AD between races.

A general electrophilic iodocyclization/nucleophile addition cascade transformation for 1,2-alkynediones for the synthesis of various oxygen heterocycles and access to regioselective alkyne hydroxylation is reported. Furan-tethered ynediones resulted in the construction of -enol ethers via carbonyl-alkyne cyclization-initiated heteroarene dearomatization, whereas other (hetero)arene-, alkenyl-, and alkyl-tethered ynediones resulted in the formation of highly functionalized 3(2)-furanones. Importantly, the developed domino protocols involve the construction of important heterocyclic scaffolds and installation of two functional groups in a single operation.

Rheumatoid arthritis(RA) is an autoimmune disease that seriously affects the physical and mental health of patients, but its pathogenesis is still unclear. At present, clinical treatment drugs include conventional synthetic disease modifing anti-rheumatic drugs(csDMARDs), nonsteroid anti-inflammtory drugs(NSAIDs), hormones, small molecule targeted drugs, biological agents, etc. These drugs can relieve the clinical symptoms of most patients with RA to a certain extent, but there are still many limitations, such as drug adverse reactions and individual differences in drug efficacy.

The inflammatory responses involving infiltration and activation of liver macrophages play a vital role in acute liver failure (ALF). In the liver of ALF mice, cannabinoid receptor 2 (CB2R) is significantly upregulated on macrophages, while CB2R agonist GW405833 (GW) could protect against cell death in acute liver damage. In this study, we investigated the molecular mechanisms underlying the protective effects of GW against ALF in vivo and in vitro from a perspective of macrophage glycometabolism.

Ultraviolet radiation (UVR) is the major exogenous agent that disturbs tissue homeostasis and hastens the onset of age-related phenotypes (photoaging). Exposure to UV-B radiation promotes apoptosis in human skin cells via induction of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS)-mediated Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER) stress by activating the PERK-eIF2α-CHOP pathway, which plays a major role in exacerbating skin photoaging. Alleviating the production of ROS and boosting the antioxidant capacity of cells is the foremost therapeutic strategy to avert the repercussions of ultraviolet radiation exposure.
