Introduction: Ectobucleotidases are a broad class of extracellular nucleotide and nucleoside hydrolyzing enzymes. Since they play a crucial role in mediating purinergic cell signalling, they are promising therapeutic targets for treatment of a range of disorders, including fibrosis, tumor metastasis, inflammation, multiple sclerosis, and autoimmune diseases. Hence selective inhibtors of ectonulceotidases are of great interest for therapeutic intervention.

Organic solar cells (OSCs) with bulk heterojunction (BHJ) structures consisting of electron-donor and electron-acceptor materials have achieved impressive progress over the past decade, demonstrating their great potential in practical applications. In this study, we have designed five fullerene-free acceptor-based molecules containing indaceno-dithiophene as a central core moiety. We studied the optoelectronic features of these newly architecture molecules by using DFT and TD-DFT approaches.

Among the lead halide perovskites, the photoluminescence quantum yields (PLQYs) of perovskite quantum dots (PQDs) in the violet region are the very lowest. This is an obstacle to the optical applications across the entire visible area based on perovskite materials. Herein, we report a novel strontium (Sr)-substitution along with chlorine passivation strategy to enhance the PLQYs of CsPbCl PQDs.

In recent years, significant progress has been made in the red and green perovskite quantum dots (PQDs) based light-emitting devices. However, a scarcity of blue-emitting devices that are extremely efficient precludes their research and development for optoelectronic applications. Taking advantage of tunable bandgaps of PQDs over the entire visible spectrum, herein we tune optical properties of CSPbBrby mixing Ndtrivalent lanthanide halide cations for blue light-emitting devices.

Because transethnic analysis may facilitate prioritization of causal genetic variants, we performed a genomewide association study (GWAS) of psoriasis in South Asians (SAS), consisting of 2,590 cases and 1,720 controls. Comparison with our existing European-origin (EUR) GWAS showed that effect sizes of known psoriasis signals were highly correlated in SAS and EUR (Spearman ρ = 0.78; < 2 × 10).

A series of N-((4-sulfamoylphenyl)carbamothioyl)alkanamides (5a-j) were synthesized by the reaction of sulphanilamide in dry acetone with freshly prepared alkyl and acyl isothiocyanates (5a-j). The structures of products were confirmed by IR, H, and C NMR. The synthesized compounds were screened as inhibitors of the bovine erythrocyte carbonic anhydrase isoform II (bCA II) and 15-lipoxygenase enzyme (15-LOX).

The descriptive cross-sectional study was planned to evaluate drug-related problems, including drug-drug interactions, dose error, use of nephrotoxic drugs and polypharmacy, with special emphasis on kidney disease patients. The study was conducted from January to June 2019 in the Nephrology Ward of Ayub Teaching Hospital, Abbottabad, Pakistan. Doses of medicine and drug-drug interactions were evaluated by comparing it with standard protocols in British National Formulary and Lexicomp.

Perovskite solar cells (PSC) have shown a rapid increase in efficiency than other photovoltaic technology. Despite its success in terms of efficiency, this technology is inundated with numerous challenges hindering the progress towards commercial viability. The crucial one is the anomalous hysteresis observed in the photocurrent density-voltage (J-V) response in PSC.

Plant salt tolerance is associated with a high rate of root growth. Although root growth is governed by cell wall and apoplastic pH, the relationship between these factors in the root elongation zone under salinity stress remains unclear. Herein, we assess apoplastic pH, pH- and expansin-dependent cell wall extensibility, and expansin expression in the root elongation zone of salt-sensitive (Yongliang-15) and -tolerant (JS-7) cultivars under salinity stress.

The biggest challenge for symmetric cryptosystems is to replace their static substitution with dynamic substitution, because static substitution S-boxes make the symmetric block ciphers more vulnerable to attacks. Previous well-known dynamic key-dependent S-boxes are lacking in dynamicity and do not provide optimal security for symmetric block ciphers. Therefore, this research aims to contribute an effective and secure method for designing key-dependent dynamic S-box with dynamic permutations to make the symmetric block ciphers optimally secure.

An alternative method of electrochemical oxidation was employed to degrade persistent compounds in the form of antibiotics using strong oxidizing agents such as hydroxyl ions. A 24 factorial design was employed to check the effect of four factors namely pH, current density, electrolysis time and electrolyte concentration set at their high (+) and low (-) levels on the antibiotics (amoxicillin, ciprofloxacin and erythromycin) degradation in water. The response was obtained in the form of COD (chemical oxygen demand) removal.
