One of the most pressing concerns in today's power networks is ensuring that consumers (both home and industrial) have access to efficient and long-lasting economic energy. Due to improved power accessibility and high specific capacitance without deterioration over long working times, supercapacitor-based energy storage systems can be a viable solution to this problem. So, here, tungsten trioxide (WO) nanocomposites containing reduced graphene oxide and carbon nanotubes (RGO-WO), (CNT-WO), and (RGO-CNT-WO), as well as pure WO nanostructures as electrode materials, were synthesized using a simple hydrothermal process.

Pakistan is an agro-economy country where hexachlorocyclohexane (HCH) pesticides are being used to improve crop productivity, as a result the risk of contamination of soil and sediment has been increased. HCH exhibits all the characteristics of persistent organic pollutants (POP), and was therefore added to the list of 'new POPs' in 2009. This review report revealed that the major rivers of Pakistan such as the Indus Basin, River Ravi, River Chenab and their tributaries all are contaminated with HCH and the highest residual concentration (4,090 ng/g) was detected in a pesticide burial ground in Hyderabad city.

The depletion of natural sand resources occurs due to excessive consumption of aggregate for concrete production. Continuous extraction of sand from riverbeds permanently depletes fine aggregate resources. At the same time, a major ecological challenge is the disposal of agricultural waste ash from biomass burning.

Nowadays, organic solar cells (OSCs) with non-fullerene electron acceptors provide the highest efficiencies among all studied OSCs. To further improve the efficiencies of fullerene-free organic solar cells, end-capped acceptor modification is made with strong electron withdrawing groups. In this report, we have theoretically designed five new novel Benzodithiophene core-based acceptor molecules (H1-H5) with the aim to study the possible enhancement in photophysical, optoelectronic, and photovoltaic properties of newly designed molecules.

This work presents a pilot method of hematological diagnosis about changes in: shape, size and rouleaux formation, cell count of leucocytes and platelet cells in the presence of different glucose [CHO] and water [H2O] concentrations. The 2D microscopic images after addition of ten different glucose concentrations to normal blood (0 mM- 450 mM) revealed the lyses (disintegration) of white blood cells (WBCs). This work provides a baseline to diagnose blood disorders and complications at labs and clinical environment.

Particular attention is devoting to the design of electrospun nanofibers (NFs) as new drug delivery nanosystems to overcome bacterial resistance and toxicological issues. Their advantages include high encapsulation efficiency, great drug-loading capacity, easiness in production, cost-effectiveness, and controlled targeted drug delivery. We aim to characterize electrospun chitosan (CS)/poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) NFs (CPNFs) loaded with cefadroxil monohydrate (CFX), a broad spectrum antibiotic.

Cocrystallization is a novel approach for tackling the lower solubility concerns when they can yield solution concentration a lot better than their corresponding parent drug in crystalline form. To get the actual solubility and dissolution gains offered by the cocrystals, phase changes in solution (dissolution) has to be interrupted. In current study, we selected commonly used polymers in order to study their effects on the super saturation of carbamezepine-succinic acid (CBZ-SUC) cocrystal during dissolution studies.

Background: amplification is a relatively novel type of genetic aberration that has been proposed to be a driver of hepatocarcinogenesis. Selective inhibitors of , a receptor of , have been developed as targeted therapies for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Despite the role of in mediating HCC progression, the clinicopathological characterization of patients exhibiting amplification remains unclear.

Polymorphisms in DNA repair genes may alter the repair mechanism which makes the person susceptible to DNA damage. Polymorphic variants in these DNA repair pathway genes such as Poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase- 1 (PARP1) have been associated with susceptibility of several types of cancer including thyroid. Many studies have been published on PARP1 gene polymorphisms and carcinogenesis with inconsistent results.

Introduction: The current study was aimed at developing a novel mucoadhesive thiolated cyclodextrin (CD) without ionizable groups and an intact ring backbone for drug delivery.
Materials And Methods: Thiolated beta CD (β-CD) was prepared through bromine substitution of its hydroxyl groups followed by replacement to thiol groups using thiourea. The thiolated β-CD was characterized in vitro via dissolution studies, cytotoxicity studies, mucoadhesion studies on freshly excised porcine intestinal mucosa, and inclusion complex formation with miconazole nitrate.

Oral tongue squamous cell carcinoma (TSCC) is a complex disease with extensive genetic and epigenetic defects, including microRNA deregulation. The aims of the present study were to test the feasibility of performing the microRNA profiling analysis on archived TSCC specimens and to assess the potential diagnostic utility of the identified microRNA biomarkers for the detection of TSCC. TaqMan array-based microRNA profiling analysis was performed on 10 archived TSCC samples and their matching normal tissues.

An accurate comparison of the interaction of furan, pyrrole, and thiophene with different gaseous analytes is vital not only for understanding the sensing mechanism of corresponding polymers but also for rational design of new materials. In the present study, DFT calculations at (M05-2X/Aug-cc-PVDZ) have been performed to investigate the interaction behavior of furan, pyrrole, and thiophene (as models for their corresponding polymers) with different analytes (NH, CO, CO, NH, HCN, HO, HS, CH, CHOH, SO, SO, HO). The interaction of heterocycles with analytes is illustrated by changes in geometric, energetic, and electronic properties.

This study accounts for the Hicks neutral technical change in a calibrated model of climate analysis, to identify the optimum level of technical change for addressing climate changes. It demonstrates the reduction to crop damages, the costs to technical change, and the net gains for the adoption of technical change for a climate-sensitive Pakistan economy. The calibrated model assesses the net gains of technical change for the overall economy and at the agriculture-specific level.

The present study was conducted to explore arsenic (As) tolerance and phytostabilization potential of the two tree species, buttonwood (Conocarpus erectus) and eastern cottonwood (Populus deltoides). Both plant species were grown in pots and were exposed to various soil As levels (control, 5, 10, 15, and 20 mg kg). The plants were harvested after 9 months for the evaluation of growth parameters as well as root and shoot As concentrations.

Combinations of antibiotics occur in terrestrial environments due to excessive prescription, consumption, and disposal and have adverse effects, including crop toxicity. We examined short-term (20-d) toxicity of the fluoroquinolone antibiotics ciprofloxacin, enrofloxacin, levofloxacin, and their mixture in a germination and a greenhouse sand culture study with wheat. We tested the hypothesis that oxidative stress plays a role in toxicity by examining stress products and antioxidants involved in detoxifying reactive oxygen species (ROS) during stress.

In this study, we examined the potential role of phosphate (P; 0, 50, 100 mg kg) on growth, gas exchange attributes, and photosynthetic pigments of Brassica napus and Brassica juncea under arsenic (As) stress (0, 25, 50, 75 mg kg) in a pot experiment. Results revealed that phosphate supplementation (P100) to As-stressed plants significantly increased shoot As concentration, dry biomass yield, and As uptake, in addition to the improved morphological and gas exchange attributes and photosynthetic pigments over P0. However, phosphate-assisted increase in As uptake was substantially (up to two times) greater for B.
