Background: Indications for Veno-venous (VV) or veno-arterial (VA) extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) after trauma rely on poor evidence. The main aims were to describe the population of trauma patients requiring either VV or VA ECMO and report their clinical management and outcomes.
Methods: An observational multicentre retrospective study was conducted in 17 Level 1 trauma centres in France between January 2010 and December 2021.

Segmentation in medical imaging is an essential and often preliminary task in the image processing chain, driving numerous efforts towards the design of robust segmentation algorithms. Supervised learning methods achieve excellent performances when fed with a sufficient amount of labeled data. However, such labels are typically highly time-consuming, error-prone and expensive to produce.

Background: Leishmaniasis is an emerging vector-borne disease that occurs in Thailand. Although Leishmania (Mundinia) parasites, the causative agents of the disease have been identified, the vectors of the disease remain unidentified. In the present study, we collected sand flies from three caves located in endemic areas of leishmaniasis, including Lampang and Chiang Rai in northern Thailand, and Songkhla in southern Thailand.

Background: Cystic fibrosis (CF) is caused by mutations in the gene encoding the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) channel. For people with CF (pwCF) affected by the most common pathogenic variant F508del, a tritherapy, named Trikafta/Kaftrio (ETI: elexacaftor (VX-445) /tezacaftor (VX-661) / ivacaftor (VX-770)) was successfully developed. However, in CF airway epithelial cells the calcium homeostasis is also disturbed; it is observed an increased calcium mobilization in CF cells compared to non-CF cells.

A strategy for the synthesis of 1--substituted thioglycals was developed from cyclic carbohydrate-derived ketene dithioacetals in a four-step sequence. The corresponding thioglycals, in two carbohydrate series, were first obtained by removal of the exocyclic glycosyl sulfoxide, followed by treatment with an organolithium reagent. Various electrophilic groups were introduced onto the thioglycal double bond after deprotonation and formation of a glycosyl lithium intermediate.

Cyanobacterial exopolysaccharides (EPS) remain released by cyanobacteria in the surrounding environment with the main purpose of protection against harmful environmental conditions. Recently, they have received significant attention due to their unique structural characteristics, functional properties, and potential applications across various fields. The current study describes the evaluation of EPS production under salinity stress from Arthrospira maxima.

Background: Since 2006, French hospital pharmacists have been able to document their interventions in the National Observatory Act-IP© and, since 2016, to assess the potential clinical, economic and organizational impacts of pharmacist interventions (PIs) via the CLEO© tool.
Aim: To describe pharmacist interventions in French hospitals from 2017 to 2021 and to evaluate their potential impacts using the CLEO© tool.
Method: The study was conducted to examine PIs documented in the Act-IP© Observatory.

Cerebrovascular segmentation is a crucial preliminary task for many computer-aided diagnosis tools dealing with cerebrovascular pathologies. Over the last years, deep learning based methods have been widely applied to this task. However, classic deep learning approaches struggle to capture the complex geometry and specific topology of cerebrovascular networks, which is of the utmost importance in many applications.

Unlabelled: There is growing evidence that bacteria encountered in prosthetic joint infections (PJIs) form surface-attached biofilms on prostheses, as well as biofilm aggregates embedded in synovial fluid and tissues. However, models allowing the investigation of these biofilms and the assessment of their antimicrobial susceptibility in physiologically relevant conditions are currently lacking. To address this, we developed a synthetic synovial fluid (SSF2) model and validated this model by investigating growth, aggregate formation, and antimicrobial susceptibility using multiple PJI isolates belonging to various microorganisms.

: The aim is to propose a model for predicting occult paraaortic lymph node (PALN) involvement in locally advanced cervical cancer (LACC) patients by including parameters such as reconstruction detection technology (use of time-of-flight) and parameters related to the primary tumor. This model will then be compared with the scores used in routine clinical practice; : This retrospective observational cohort study included patients diagnosed with LACC who underwent F-FDG PET/CT prior to PALN surgical staging between February 2012 and May 2020. The following parameters were collected on PET/CT: tumor SUVmax, tumor MTV, number of common and distal pelvic node involvements.

It is not unusual for naturally occurring compounds to be limited for their use in cosmetics due to their low water solubility. Recently, aiming at accessing novel phlorizin (a glycosylated bioactive recovered from apple tree wood and already used in cosmetics as antioxidant ingredient) analogues, we reported the synthesis of very promising - but low water-soluble - biomass-derived chalcones (CHs) and dihydrochalcones (DHCs) exhibiting antioxidant and anti-tyrosinase activities. Glycosylating bioactive compounds being one of the most common strategies to increase their water solubility, herein we report the enzymatic glycosylation of the CHs mentioned above, as well as DHC using cyclodextrin glycosyltransferases (CGTase), enzymes well-known for catalyzing the selective α(1→4) transglycosylation.
